  1. Yesterday, the regent's for Nebraska University of Lincoln announced that the school will leave the Big 12 and go to the Big Ten. I was wondering if anyone has any idea's how this might affect college wrestling, both in the Big 12 and in general?

push for more KY college wrestling

I am a senior this year and I am looking to wrestle in college. at the school websites of union college in kentucky and university of the rio grande in ohio I asked if there was any chance of them starting wrestling teams anytime soon. I still have yet to get a response from either school. but I think if either of these or any colleges get enough prospective students asking for a wrestling team, this might be a way to get them to consider starting teams.

I just found out that a new high school is opening in shelby county in fall 2010. I belive it's called Martha Layne Collins High School. This might be a good school for trying to start a new team at.

now that i think about it, schools like taylor county, corbin, campbellsville, williamsburg, and adair county, who have local college teams, are most likely to be some of the newest teams we'll see in the next few years. surely some former college wrestlers with teaching majors from one of our states current college teams will apply for a teaching job at these schools, and they'll ask if the can start a wrestling team. and, if georgetown, union, and pikeville start teams, we might start to get schools like scott county, boyd county, somerset, hazard, paintsville, southwestern, pulaski county, bell county, and the schools in pike county all starting teams.
  9. In kentucky I would like to see union college, georgetown, and pikeville start wrestling programs. their already in the mid south conference, which now sponsers the sport. other mid south schools to convince would be virginia-wise, shorter college in geogia, lambuth university and bethel college in tennessee, and faulkner university in alabama.

yeah, i heard about that too. personally i hope they do. i think if we could get all the JCPS's to start teams it will encourage other schools in the state to pick up the sport.
