Thanks, we are headed back to the Orthopedic specialist tomorrow. I know he feels like he let a lot of people down and he is working hard to get well and make amends.

I think the 165 lb class was a huge shock. Nelson had a heck of a season winning districts and regionals undefeated, but injured his hip in the 3rd match at state and was basically out of it after that. But never fear he is under doctors care and he will be back next year bigger and better and I see a state championship in his future.

Have to agree with you 100% a little rain and it all gets called off.....I think this is a joke And I feel sorry for the kids who have worked their butts off all season and now they get nothing because someone is scared of a little rain

And who is going to refund all the money parents have put out for hotel rooms, lost days from work. I was lucky my hotel canceled my reservation without a charge but I know others who are stuck with a huge hotel bill for nothing. Not to mention these boys have worked their asses off this year and someone has the nerve to call this off because of rain. Makes no sense this forecast his been up for 4 days and you couldn't plan an alternative site in 4 days...right

Are you telling me there isn't an auditorium somewhere in ETown big enough to hold this tournament? Sounds fishy to me maybe someone who was supposed to win couldn't make it this weekend..............I say find another facility and those who have the stones to show up wrestle those who don't forfeit.

Who ever made the decision needs to take driving lessons because they apparently think those of us with a brain can't drive in rain....idiots

This is nonsense. I can't believe this. Who can't drive in RAIN............Idiots after these boys have worked so hard for this they have the nerve to call it off over rain. :x

Blake Nelson Madison Co is in the 165 lb weight class. I think he has a really good chance of taking his weight class at State, he has been undefeated for last 6 weeks, and hasn't been pinned all year, only lost by 1 point in the two matches he lost. He turned around 2 weeks later and pinned the kid who beat him. Nelson is a strong wrestler and a good kid.

Actually our 140 lb wrestler was cheated out of 8 points during his Championship match. If he had been given the points he actually earned he would have won 1st in his weight class. So yes I would still feel the same. But I don't feel it's necessary to cause an uproar because it only teaches the boys to be poor sports. Like I said I saw several things happen that day that I don't agree with. I'm sorry if any of the boys were treated unfairly, because that's something I don't agree with. All of the wrestlers at the tournament have worked hard all year to get where they are and it's a shame that they couldn't have a fair shot. I'm sorry for your wrestler and I hope he does well at the State tournament.

I would like to say that Madison County had a great day yesterday. Thanks to all the coaches and parents who have given so much of their time and effort to the wrestlers. Our boys have come a long way since the beginning of the season. I am so proud of each and every one of them. Our parents and family members showed great pride and support for each team member. I'm sure we all agree that not everything went as fair and honest as we would have liked, but I have to give the parents and coaches credit for not causing a scene, unlike some of the other schools. All in all the day was a great success, and I wish all the Madison County Wrestlers, as well as the other participating wrestlers, good luck at the State Tournament. :mrgreen:

I agree. My son wrestled against a boy from Bourbon county. On the mat they were fighting it out like true champs, but after the match they were like best friends. I love to see the boys wrestle but more than that I love to see the friendships that grow out of these tournaments. I think wrestling teaches our children to handle life's ups and downs with grace. I hope my son continues to wrestle throughout high school.

I don't understand why everyone wants to argue on this site. Isn't this all about the wrestlers? Not the opinions of the parents. I have a son who wrestles, and to be honest yes I love to see him win, but if he doesn't win I don't go off bad mouthing other wrestlers or parents. Any wrestler can have a bad day. I have seen my son pin boys in the heavy weight group and the 185 group but I have also seen him get pinned by wrestlers who were smaller and less experienced than him. Shouldn't we be on here to support our wrestlers and encourage them? I would love to see my son win his division in state, but if he doesn't then we just encourage him to work harder and be a good sport no matter where he places. Remember we are the adults here our children learn by our example. If we argue and belittle other wrestlers, teams and parents then our boys and girls learn that is proper behavior if they don't win. Lets set a good example for the wrestlers by keeping our comments positive and supportive and I think that will benefit them far more than the bickering and judging. And I wish every wrestler the best of luck on Saturday. As long as you do your best then you have nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of.

He wrestles for Madison County he went to state last year and won the 140 pound weight class. Best of luck to your son on Saturday I hope all the boys have a great day win or lose.

Why does everyone assume that just because this is the elementary level that these boys are little children? My son is 12, but he is 5'7' and 150 pounds. He is a great wrestler. He has practiced with the high school team and even pinned a few guys who wrestle 185 pounds and heavy weight in the middle school. True enough there were some little fellas there just getting started but if you payed attention you would see that there are larger boys who wrestle elementary and who are very good. We need to stop acting like this level is just a bunch of tiny toddlers play wrestling. Give these boys the praise they deserve, they work just as hard as the older boys so lets stop treating them like babies, and more like the great wrestlers they are.

I really enjoyed the tournament yesterday it went by rather quickly and that is a plus. I was also happy for our boys from Madison Co. they had a great day and I hope they each do as well in the state tournament.

I would have to say that coach Gene Wolf from Madison County is a great coach He finally got a great wrestling program started n Madison county and he really cares about the kids

I'm glad to hear that Fair did well he is a great wrestler and a really good kid another question how did matt hall do in the 150 he is a great kid but i know he had a lot on his mind with his fathers illness
