    Super 32 Update

Brock got 3rd one year. Fahy placed twice. Got 3rd one year and 4th another year. The brackets aren't easy to go through. There's probably been a few others but not that easy to find.

The Great Debate - Public vs. Private

This thread is beyond stupid. You can make many arguments as to where someone can get a quality education both public and private. You can do well at either and it is not going to be resolved because of what someone posts on this site. You can throw out whatever statistics you want. Most people have already made up there mind and chose accordingly. Sometimes its financial, sometimes education, and sometimes (gasp, gasp) it’s sports related. These 2 kids from what I understand are 8th graders and therefore not TRANSFERS. They have finished Middle School and are now enrolling in High School. It is the choice of them and their parents where they want to go. Pistolpete this has obviously had a negative effect on your personal situation but don't try to throw out this crap about how these families have somehow been duped and tricked into laying out $50,000 (or whatever the amount is, just going on numbers from some of the OH schools) for their kids education and how you know better. Why don't you call them up and explain all your reasons why you think they are wrong and you are right if you are really so concerned. You think the school you are sending your kids to is better than the one they chose? Great, then send your kid there. No one is trying to convince you otherwise. They obviously saw it different. I am sure they can figure things out for themselves. So go ahead and write your letters to the KHSAA and whine about recruiting violations and how unfair life is and how the KHSAA won't do anything because of how much money they stand to lose (which is nonsense) but I don't see any thing wrong with it.

GOO you are leaving Fahy off the list. His are in succession as well 09, 10, 11, and 12. Also I don't see anyone stopping ervin in the next 2 years.

    STATE DUALS CANCELLED

The decision is being made on what MIGHT happen. Adjustments can be make to delay the decision to see if it ACTUALLY happens.

    STATE DUALS CANCELLED

I completely agree with the previous 2 posts. There are certainly some alternative plans that could be made to ensure safety. Have remote weigh-ins tonight, delay start tomorrow to re-evaluate. There might not even be ANY snow or just a dusting. This seems like a premature decision. I have heard that some teams are already on the way!

    STATE DUALS CANCELLED

Also MS State Duals are tomorrow and are NOT cancelled. Teams from all over the state are travelling without a problem. Come on, the Lexington area is forecasted to get 1 INCH of snow. This is ridiculus.

Why diminish what some kids work hard for and accomplish? A MS State Title has meaning. That's like saying High School is just to get you ready for college and if you never wrestle past high school it was a waste. I don't agree with that the same as I don't agree with saying middle school is ONLY to get you ready for high school. Again, under the current rules only some of our MS kids have the option to wrestle HS. The rest are shut out. Totally unfair.

One of the problems with allowing middle school wrestlers to wrestle varsity is that under the current rules it is only permitted for some and not all. For a lot of middle school kids that don't attend a "feeder" school/program they are not eligible. Either open it up to all middle schoolers or get rid of it. States that don't allow it is not because they don't have kids that aren't good enough. It is supposed to be a HIGH SCHOOL Championship.

  19. I think the issue with Sullivan is that he never challenged himself outside the state of KY. He never wrestled at a single high level national tournament like the Beast or Fargo, etc. Then at Senior Nationals he went 0-2. Even toward the end of his HS career it became obvious that he was a one dimensional wrestler. As soon as his opponent took away his throws he had no answer. Despite all of his wins he never got any recognition in national polls because he never beat any top national caliber opponents. It has nothing to do with his weight class. That is where Murton and Ruschelle have the edge. Even over Courtney, Knable, Wolseffer, etc. All were great but I think Murton probably did the most outside of KY. The young talent coming up it seems has even more of an edge in this area. Wrestlers like Fahy and Ervin don't seem to be afraid to lose a few matches at the national level. This is a tough question because I really don't think there is a clear winner. Unlike the decade before where the best is obvious.

  22. On Intermat State Rankings South Dakota is ranked 33. KY is ranked 34. According to WresgtlingUSA Alabama has also had several 5 timers and one 6 timer.
  23. I think there have been several 5 timers throughout the country. I believe there have even been some that have won 6. Not the same as high school but I think John Fahy has won 5 middle school state titles in KY.
