Your boys have always represented you and Kentucky well. Cheering for them both. -
Where are our seniors wrestling next year?

If you don’t mind me asking, was the reason for Spencer doing that just to go ahead and get a jump on college wrestling? Excited to watch him at the next level, but selfishly sad to miss out on another year of him here in Kentucky. -
Interestingly enough I read a write up on Howard Schnellenberger at Flaget High School being recruited by Bear Bryant. I bet those were fun times.

That would make sense. I wasn’t able to see that on the camera. Hope the best for Seth in the future.

It was a close match and he got pinned in the third then threw his headgear and walked off without shaking hands. It wasn't terribly egregious but the officials looked justified to me. Unfortunate for Seth.

What’s with the second trinity at the bottom of the list, GOO?

Today Jude Powell lost to Ty Lehman in the finals of State First Round 2 by a regular decision score of 2-7 but it is recorded in track as a fall for Lehman. This won’t effect us (Fairdale) in any way but with team points carrying over to state finals, Trinity being awarded an extra 4 points they didn’t earn could have significant impact on team title race.

If nothing else at least we have new things to discuss. Woodford County with only 2 “placers” doesn’t feel real to me.
-
Thank you thank you! Best of luck to you guys as well

I’m an idiot. Thanks for the correction.

Cattan officiated this match. Not sure if he is on this forum or not but I believe he can probably recall the match and that it was not a fall.

A literal 2 second video of a wrestler being cross faced and OP saying essentially the two wrestlers fought and were both DQ’ed.
-
There’s still time to delete this

Wrestling is and always has been an extreme afterthought to AD’s in Louisville. The only time public schools in Louisville have had any success it has been directly because of insanely driven head coaches. Seneca, Southern, Fern Creek. When the coaches leave, so does the success. The same can be said of Moore and Coach Thomas although he is obviously still there.

I’m a lifelong region 3 wrestler/coach/fan and I’m here to tell ya... there’s gonna be some terribly unfair state medalists this year
-
Sorry I’m late to the party, but am I understanding correctly that the 2 finalists from this “first round” will then advance to the next round where all 8 are considered state medalists? If so, this is insane.

Thank goodness. Thank you for all you do. And congrats to Ryan on a fantastic year. -
Kentuckywrestling.com 2020-21 Rankings - March 9

Thanks for the update Ranger. I am not sure if anyone has asked on here or if you have addressed it, but do you plan on continuing with rankings after Spencer graduates? These rankings have been THE rankings since I started wrestling in 2004. I can’t imagine our community without them. -
I am a Louisville boy so am quite used to this problem. Coached at fairdale for a year and we often had to have combined practices with PRP for both of our sakes. Perhaps we could combine teams that could not field full teams, in the event of such a drastic circumstance. Have seen it done on a much smaller scale such as dual tournaments, combining several B teams.

Solid list!

It amazes me just how little the khsaa does for wrestling. They basically let ranger and a few others run the entire sport for them. When ranger steps down, there will be no rankings.

I don’t recall much if at all very dirty or unsportsmanlike going on at state this year. If you’re going to come on here and make aloof accusations at least be man enough to speak to specifics. Say what team you’re alluding to. I’m just a dummy from Louisville but I feel like everyone forgets that woodford co. won 5 state championships in a row in all of our life times. Union County is certainly in the Ky Wrestling history books but a lot of people who are older than me act as if what they’re doing has never been done. In all seriousness my 2 ultimate takeaways from this years tournament were 1. the state of wrestling in Kentucky is in a good place. And 2. I really worry about what will happen once Spencer Moore graduates...
