Congrats to Union County for another state title.....by the way how many ervins are there seems like half the team????? This seems to be a thing for Kentucky wrestling.....you have the ervins...then the coopers.......then the stark brothers....and I heard Courtney has a younger brother in the middle school program who will be on the woodford team in a few years and his dad also was on the Woodford team at one time.....and I am sure there are a few more family names across Kentucky I just don't know them..but one heck of a way to bulid a strong program in Kentucky...I heard the ervins have had a long history in the Union County wrestling program......so I guess they are a big family. any way A big congrats for Union County.......you guys did a great job!!!!!

    Congratulations WC

I was impressed with sheehans finals with Mitch....I have heard alot about Mitch...someone even told me the other day the kid went to Russia........but even if sheehan didn't win he held his own and didn't let Mitch pin him....seemed he made Mitch work a little more than what was excpeted...that finals was a great match.....two great wrestlers sheehan and Mitch.....but as for the others I did hear Courtney had a few injuries the first of the season that was why his record was not over 40.....and the others I don't know about.

    MOW!!!!!

Yea I did see some unsportsman like actions this week also....but like you said I want to focus on the kids that showed what the sport really is about...and I seen alot of that this weekend....not only Harrison but alot of other kids. One thing I forgot to say.....Harrison seems to have alot of engery like you said lol....I notice when it is time for a match he seems ready to get out there......he reminds me off a caged tiger the way he paces back and forth....but he gets the job done.....and it seems the kid really loves the sport.

    Congratulations WC

Thier program is a true power house when you look at all....I mean all thier records they hold..13 team titles...and I lost track at 20 something of individual state champions..and they seem to be a team that has a cycle from thier history....they have a few off years but after that back to the power house statues.....and everyone as some of you said loves to hate the best. You have to say it for these kids....from what I understand they were ranked 12th this year.......if I am correct.....they had a tough start the first part of the season for some reason.....don't know why.......but when it came time for state.....they pulled it off sending 4 kids to the finals..having two individual state champions ....and going from a 12 ranking to placing 3rd at state......Congrats to them.......I think they proved this weekend you should never underestimate a program like Woodford has.

    MOW!!!!!

I am new to this board and have been following Kentucky high school wrestling for a year...but now I am a big fan!!!!! I want to congratulate Harrison Courtney for being named Most outstanding wrestler of the state tournament. This was my first year going to state and I can say I am impressed with all the talent Kentucky has!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seen a few of Harrisons matches and was also impressed.....this kid seems like he has natural talent..the stuff some seem to be givin to at birth...but the one thing that impressed me the most about this kid was how he is off the mat......I got to speak to him for just a minute to wish him good luck in his finals.......and it suprised me....I was expecting a kid that would be full of himself but what I seen was a down to earth...friendly...respectful...focused kid. So on and off the mat I think Courtney is one heck of a wrestler ..I am sure his coaches.....Woodford Co.....and his family and friends are very proud of him. He deserved in my book that award last night....I did notice on here some of you are not Courtney fans..maybe becuse he is from Woodford.....but I am here to tell you after this weekend.....I am a Courtney believer and fan!!!!! and I am not from the Woodford district... we should be proud when kids like this REPRESENT OUR STATE......"Kentucky". I want to congratulate all the kids who made it to state.......it gives me another reason to be proud to be from Kentucky......job well done guys.........and of course.......congratulations to Harrison Courtney for his 3 peat and being named MOW.
