    State Team Scores

Just wondering why you are constantly going on and on about the boys wrestling "UP". Why the need to pretend that they are overcoming some major disadvantage because they aren't cutting down to whatever weight the fat test said they might be eligible for? I would guess that 70-80% of the kids wresling in the state competed at some weight class above what the fat test said they were eligible for. Ervin was eligible for 120, is he wrestling "UP"? Fahey was eligible for 132 and I am told walking aroung at 143. Is he wrestling "UP" at 138? Same for Cooper. He was eligible for 138. I guess he deserves more credit for dismantaling everybody at 145 since he was also wrestling "UP". Jude fat tested for 152!!! He's wrestling "UP" 2 classed as well! Stephen was at Reading a month and a half ago weighing 156. And don't give me the BS about not being in wrestling shape. When you train 12 months out of the year since 1st or 2nd grade your never that far removed from being in wrestling shape. I am sure they both weighed about the same as everyone else in there weight class. Normally wreslting "UP" means that you weigh in at a lower weight class as in a dual meet and the coach bumps you up to wrestle a higher weight class for team points. So give it a rest about how remarkable their performance was considering they were wrestling "UUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPP"!!!!! By the way, they both wrestled great .... just not "UUUUUUUUUPPPPPPP" Same thing with the constant comment about Austin being an amazing "FRESHMAN". For pete sake he's as old as some kids that are juniors and probably has twice as many years on the mat. Amazing "FRESHMAN" wrestling "UP"!! You don't need to pretend that they are anything more or less than what they really are. Both kids are tremendous wrestlers but are not at any disadvantage! Both have been held back. Which is fine by me, a lot of the top kids are holdbacks ie Jude, Carr, Brock, etc. I have no problem with it. I think it is more impressive when kids accomplish the same without being held back like TJ, Cooper, Fahey, etc but it's OK either way. Just don't go off ACTING like he's some young baby FRESHMAN competing against older upper classmen. That's not the reality of it.

Will Ranger be updating the rankings based on regional results or are the existing ones the final version before Thursday? Only interested because of the bonus pick.

    Thoughts from Middle School Tourney

I disagree with you regarding Knable. I realize that this is a middle school discussion however if you are going to bring up the same issue as it relates to high school you need to understand the rules. HS rules are based on where an individual attends school, not where they live. If someone lives on a border between 2 states as in the case of Knable they compete with the school they attend. He was not eligible to wrestle in Indiana. Saying that St. X should render someone inelible to compete because they live accross the river in IN is nonsense. That would just mean that he couldn't compete at all. There are lots of kids all over the country that this affects. I am not positive about this but I believe KY MS rules is based on where an individual lives. Someone should be able to check the by-laws and post the rule. In either case Wedding is eligible because he both lives and attends middle school in KY. Once he goes to HS and starts to attend a school in IN, then that is where he will have to wrestle. He will no longer be eligible for high school wrestling in KY.
  4. Full list now updated on KYSWA. Interesting to see the number of multiple middle school champs who went on to very successful high school careers. http://www.kyswa.org/Home/OutstandingChampions/tabid/89/Default.aspx
  5. where is the full list posted?

    REGION 2

Just because a move is legal, doesn't mean a ref can't stop it for potentially dangerous. There is a difference between an illegal move (full nelson) and a legal move that can be stopped for being potentially dangerous. I am not saying this was the case in the situation you are discussing but just as an example, if the top wrestler is running a 90 degree bar (perfectly legal) but the bottom wrestler has his arm or leg posted to the side so that he cannot roll, a ref will stop this as his arm/shoulder is getting bent behind his head. The primary responsibility of any ref (especially at the elementary level) is SAFETY.

  8. Are the WIN rankings considered the most highly regarded? What other rankings are there? I know that Wrestling USA has rankings as well.

    WOODFORD COUNTY!?!

I agree. Many of the kids that prevuously wrestled for the Fern Creek MS program weren't even from the Fern Creek area in the first place! They just wrestled there because it had a quality youth program. To imply that they didn't go to Fern Creek HS because they were recruited by Trinity is just nonsense. There are several other HS programs in Jeff Co. that have quality kids that at one time wrestled at Fern Creek. Were they recruited as well?

    norbury vs. murphy dragon

#2 v #3 It should be a good one but hardly the match of the year I would probably give that to the Zarth/Osbourne overtime match at Ryle.
  12. I don't see anyone from Woodford Co. at 112. Is Shane White wrestling?

RUSCHELL NOW IN THE FINALS AT MIDLANDS

Not sure but I think 27 is between 25-30. Olympic ages would be no different than the ages of the World Teams the other 3 years. Cael was 25 when he won gold in Athens.
  14. 112 11 Un Co Keaton Thomas Thomas will end up much higher. I see him as high as 3-4.
