    Helpful state duals info

Sorry, for like I said, I didn't want to get anyone mad and I appreciate Lindsay willing to host, I would have just felt bad knowing what I saw and not sharing. Kids may have grandparents attending and I would have felt bad not asking for everyone. Ever since I found out the venues I had planned on bringing a folding chairs just in case. This old body wouldn't do to well standing for 8-10-12 hours. We (X) wrestled Union two years ago in Large vs. Small School after it was all said and done. We got there at 9:00 AM and left at about 10:00 PM!!!!! Good times but I was up in the stands doing nothing but watching and I was beat. LOL. The gym is a gym, so your good there. Just wanted to find out about seating in the Wellness Center. Hopefully Coach can let us know so everyone can be prepared.

    Helpful state duals info

Thanks Coach. I understand it now. Caveat to all attending, unless something has changed for this event, the Wellness Center didn't have any bleachers last time I was down there. At least not large bleachers but the small aluminum bleachers you would find at a little league baseball field. During Team Kentucky practices, they were hosting large volleyball tournaments and parents and spectators were standing against the walls. Not trying to start anything here, for like I said I do not know the setup, but can you confirm if they have installed some bleachers in the Wellness Center or should we bring fold-up chairs? Crowding around the mat in a fold-up chair is fine by me. Right by the action!!!

    Helpful state duals info

Sorry can't see on the bracket which division is in which location. Am I missing it?
  4. I know it was mentioned on some earlier posts, but I didn't believe it until I saw it. This is awesome news. Allot of talent to draw from around here and around the state. Bellarmine is a great school with tremendous athletic programs. So excited to have college wrestling in Louisville!!!!! Think of how much good this can do the sport in this city and state for that matter. Knights hall is a perfect venue. From the Courier - Journal Bellarmine announced Tuesday that it will be starting a men's college wrestling team to compete in NCAA Division II beginning this fall. The move will be completed "by essentially absorbing the former Saint Catharine College team," according to the university.' "Upon the announcement of the imminent closing of Saint Catharine College, Bellarmine University's administration and trustees began exploring programs that could be transitioned from Saint Catharine to Bellarmine to the mutual benefit of both," Bellarmine Interim President Doris Tegart said in a statement. "The wrestling team fills that bill and is a natural fit for our athletics program." Wrestling will become the 22nd Bellarmine sports program. Matches will be held in Knights Hall. Per Bellarmine, "Last season, St. Catharine competed at the NAIA level in wrestling with 41 team members. Head coach Spencer Adams and assistant coach Gary Canter will remain coaches at Bellarmine, and all former SCC team members wishing to transfer will be retained as well. In addition, Bellarmine will honor the commitment to all of the St. Catharine signees for the 2016-17 season, provided they meet Bellarmine admission standards." The Great Lakes Valley Conference now has seven schools that feature wrestling, while 59 schools compete in wrestling in NCAA Division II. http://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/college/kentuckiana/2016/06/14/bellarmine-start-mens-wrestling-team/85873752/
  5. To put it into some perspective..Not that it matters, because it's not happening. Only picture I could find from "The Dungeon" that shows a wrestling setup. Only space for four mats. I think we might still be there wrestling now from last week if we only had four mats.

    Region 4 brackets

The unfortunate thing about something like this is that there are certain family members that physically can't get to see kids wrestle all the time. (elderly grandparents / wrestling out of town, etc.) Being in town for once, they would like to come watch, but if your wrestler gets a bye, then it's a wasted trip for some people who have a tougher time than most getting out of the house. Hell, I have had some family members that wanted to schedule time off of night shift to come watch, but I then had to tell them forget it, because not sure he won't get a bye tonight. I doubt anyone ever thought these things through. Sad that most likely, all of this could be remedied with a few clicks of a button. I guess I could stop whining now right? :-)

    Jefferson County Tournament of Champions

Man I hope it doesn't screw things up. That would be a damn shame.
  10. I concur. Many of the teams travel outside the state and face some pretty stiff competition, and may absorb a few more losses than others that stay local. It all comes out in the wash though. That's what drives me crazy about seeding criteria in local tournaments based on won/lost % (Sometimes). LOL More should be taken into account about past state placements and tournament performances. But that's an entirely different thread.

    Mater Dei Holiday Classic

The kid that beat Lee was Jared Timberman from New Palestine. Didn't look up how he finished last year, but definitely a very good wrestler. Was impressed with him at MD last year. New Pal is very tough.

    Region 1 Rankings 12/22/15

Do you compile rankings from other regions? I thought I noticed that you did. Anyway if so would you consider giving region 4 a shot? If not, my bad.

    Lampe Boys @ UT Chat

Lampe boys with three wins, back to back to back in the lineup. Awesome. http://gomocs.com/news/2015/12/10/WR_1210155722.aspx
  15. Bearcat Brawl Depending on the pools for which I haven't seen. (1) Walton Verona (2) Fern Creek (3) Woodford Co. At Moeller, not sure how X and Trinity will do for I do not know much about the teams up here. Trinity and X will wrestle the last dual of the tournament, but I do not see Tyler Frankrone. Wild guess would be Moeller and Father Ryan toss up. X or Trinity should have an opportunity.

    Today's Predictions

X and Trinity wrestle for 3rd. X wins 39-34 but both teams not at full strength. Barton and Frankrone out for Trinity Dallas Miles out for St. X

Help make BGSG bigger and better

We skipped it for a couple of years but came back this year, our first at Tates Creek. Thought you guys did a great job. Like the outside idea, heat don't bother me. More participation is the goal, but it's tough with the timing. Anyway, once again, thought you did a great job. Appreciate the effort in trying to make it BIGGER and BETTER.
  20. Hadn't checked the website in a while and came across the video. Awesome job guys! Loved it. Keep the title of "It's Not About Your Kid." For that is perfect. Get yourselves a professional hair and makeup artist and you'll be ready for ESPN! JK , for real though, great job. Keep the videos coming.

    Postponed!

I think the 9th is the day they setup the arena. The actual wrestling will begin on the 10th and finish up on the 11th.

    SNOW!!!

There really is no good solution here, and I guess all the kids are in the same boat but..... It does stink if you had a kid that was peaking at the right time, now has to cool his jets and wait. (Talk about a momentum killer.) Would love to see us get a dual, or at least a dual practice with some live wrestling, but nothing can simulate live matches. Then you have to worry about possible injuries, etc. On the other front, if someone is banged up. they have time to heal now. Injuries could also happen at practice anyway, but well, you know what i'm saying. Just stinks all the way around.

    Semifinal Predictions

I know, it was another poster that threw in the "low ranked" guy comment. Sounded like a slap at both of them. I agree on the match. Looked as if it was not in the cards that day. AJ was in control until the end. You know I got much love for ya Binder. We didn't mean to hijack the topic. Let's get back to the Semifinal predictions.

    Semifinal Predictions

4-2, but in fairness, Binder scored two takedowns and gave up the 2 by going neutral on the restart twice. Kid hit a nice post high c I think, and they went to a scramble. It happens. I'm just giving him crap, because we are buds.
