I posted this a few years back in a forum and found the picture again (albeit a small picture LOL.) For the old timers that remember Frankfort and the Dungeon. Not a "get off my lawn" post at all, but this was by far the best setup for state...........loved every minute of it.

Still no live feed so Gator was right. FLO says live but doesn't start until 4:00. NHFS still scrolling so I bet it's the wifi rule. About subscribing, you can cancel both at anytime so it;s worth it to wacth for the weekend, then cancel on Monday. Beats gas, food, lodging, etc. Issue is, if it wasn't at a high school, I probably would have went. My son is a coach now so I don't really have a "dog in the fight" and I didn't want to take up a seat for a parent, grandparent or family member that has a kid participating. So there was $500-$600 someone lost for what I would have spent easily this weekend. Wonder how many other fans did the same because of the venue. Sorry, not trying to bitch.

NHFS has it listed but I am having trouble getting it to load. Their issue not mine with a connection.

Don't know how this slipped past me, but the NWCA Multi Divisional Duals will be at the Kentucky Expo Center on January 6th & 7th. I saw one link saying it will be in Freedom Hall. That would be pretty cool if true. Reason I post in high school forum is that there are allot of recent Kentucky High School Wrestlers, too many to count, that should be participating. Pretty large college wrestling event for this city, biggest I know about. 86 College Teams. Hope some of the current high school, middle school and youth can make it if it doesn't conflict with their events. http://www.nwcaonline.com/past-events/nwca-multi-divisional-national-duals-2019/

My son texted me this news this morning. Just absolutely awful. Prayers from the St X. Wrestling family to Union Co. and the Sheffers. May God guide them through this tragedy.

Good stuff. Sounds like a great young man. Feel bad for Isaac, he would have made a run at it this year. I will be cheering for Damoreon for sure this weekend.

100% Class Coach McCoy. Good luck the rest of the year. -
Only photo of wrestling in the "Dungeon" as the kids called it, that I could find online. Great atmosphere for state.

I stated sometime last year I think, that not having accurate stats and more importantly, tracking hurt coverage which contributes to the lack of growth of the sport. I'm sure I was more articulate in my thoughts on the earlier post but bare with me here for a second to explain. Sports by nature are statistically driven, mostly in wins and losses. When the local media (newspaper) reports on a sporting event they talk about win-loss records, rankings etc. as well as the event itself. Being that the information on our sport is not always accurate and sometimes sketchy at best, how can local media report and thus help promote the sport? If it (matches) aren't documented or recorded, are they even important? If they aren't important, why would anyone care? In the largest metropolitan city in the state (Louisville), they have little to no coverage of wrestling. The Courier reports on wrestling three times a year. Usually a small snippet at the beginning of the season, Jefferson County Championships and a write-up after state, maybe the Dragon once or twice in the past few years. I don't have a dog in this fight anymore, but it kills me to see basketball, football and baseball flood the local sports scene while the best sport in the world doesn't even get a sniffle. Hell I've seen highlights of two basketball teams with losing records on the local news while two top five teams were wrestling a dual on the same night in the same city. I understand that recognition is not why kids wrestle, if you want that your'e in the wrong sport. But, if we want to grow the sport, we need to promote the sport. If we treat the sport like a third tier sport ourselves by not even recording our records and performances the why would anyone on the outside take it seriously? Another reason why the State Tournament could never be seeded, which will most likely never happen anyway. But without the tracking aspect, we have no leg to stand on if it were ever to be proposed. Just my two cents, take it for what it's worth.

Check my link Wrestling Dad. It includes the girls.

Yes sir Mr. Escalera, Very exclusive company indeed. The link below totals them all including NAIA, NJCAA and the like. Since many of our local (Kentucky) colleges are NAIA. Very proud that many of our boys earn this opportunity. It's a different world in the college ranks as mine will attest. http://www.scholarshipstats.com/wrestling.html

Jefferson County Tournament of Champions
Granby replied to Spectator123's topic in High School Wrestling
Absolutely nothing against any kid who is fortunate to win an MOW at any tournament but...it's subjective in several of the coaches minds i'm sure, but in my experience it is a popularity contest in most instances. Should it be the "best" wrestler in the tournament who dominated the competition, even though the competition was light? Should it be the lower seeded wrestler that wrestled a great tournament and upset higher ranked kids on their way to a championship? Should it be a body of work over a season or years, because iv'e seen it be a "reward" for seniors on more than one occasion. I have also seen MOW be a penalty to a team effort such as the example above. -
