    Wrestle Offs for Team Kentucky?

The champions already won the wrestle off in my opinion. The only spots that should be contested are the ones that don't closely correspond to a KY weight (80 lb.) or that the champion has decided to not fill (96 lb.). With the exception of maybe 75 because there is no weight class at Danville for the 70 lb. champ. I say if the 70 lb. champ can beat the 75 lb. champ then take the best. In this case Binder is out 4-6 weeks with a bad shoulder so Wiley should have no challengers. It really comes down to integrity. Accept your defeat, move on, and let the ones who earned the spot have it. My son is one of those that came in 2nd, and there is no way I would allow him to wrestle off a champion at any weight for their spot.

I didn't mean any offense tc125 or hrvstrofsrrw. I was just trying to make the point that no one really knows what they are feeling or thinking except those close to them. To answer your question. My son will wrestle MS region and state whether he earns a HS varsity spot or not because to him he has unfinished business, and I'd tell them to mind their own business and deal with it. He's a 12 year old kid who will be a 13 year old kid at MS state next year. No one has a right to take MS wrestling away from him or anyone else in a similar situation just because they're good enough or needed to fill a spot at HS. As I said before, if this were to happen, we are only hurting the sport and the kids. This same argument has been raised at the Elementary level in the past. If you're in elementary but you're good enough/needed at MS, your participation at the Elementary level should never be taken away. It is just plain wrong. It's adults thinking only about their program or kid not about KY youth wrestling as a whole. Wrestlers whether youth, MS, or HS only get better by practicing with/wrestling kids that are at their level or higher. Take the best kids away, you hurt the sport as a whole, you hurt the kids, and you have KY wrestling never catching up with the surrounding states. I also coach my daughters select soccer team, and the same can be said about soccer, basketball, football, baseball, or whatever. We built our soccer team around one great player and it has helped develop the other 11 players. They work harder, try harder, practice harder, etc. to compete at her level. Tell her she can't compete on our team because she played here or there only hurts soccer as a sport, her, and the other 11 players on our team. Next year as a 5th grader if she was asked to play for the MS or HS soccer teams, we would play with 11 and would take her back after the school season with open arms.

TC125 is obviously a HS wrestler from Tates Creek, so unless you are a MS wrestler or a parent of one of these MS/HS wrestlers, which your not because your posts are too grammatically correct and you wouldn't have made these comments, neither one of you can speak for what these young men feel when they wrestle at the MS level. I'm sure Kevin Cooper, Holtsclaw, and the many others took great pride in their accomplishments. I went through the HS rankings looking for MS state qualifiers, and if I'm not mistaken, not all of them even placed at the MS level. So the argument that they just do it to beat up on inferior competition and to collect medals doesn't fly. Each season MS wrestling is getting more competitive and harder to place. My son won MS state as a 6th grader last year, and this year came up a little short placing 2nd. If he gains enough weight, next year as an 8th grader the plan is for him to try to fill a HS spot, but I can guarantee you that he doesn't feel like he has accomplished all that he can at the MS level, far from it. He's already working harder than ever starting to prepare for next season. He's worked all week with a HS friend to help him get ready for region and state, and he's already asked me to start registering for off-season camps and tournaments. I know for a fact that he isn't this determined and focused just to go and collect a medal. It is to accomplish what he set out to do and came up short in doing. Elementary and MS wrestling, I assume, were started to promote this great sport and for the kids. Both are hurt when we as adults try to restrict their participation, or try to make it more than it is. It is MS wrestling with young men/women student athletes (kids) participating. Let them be kids, compete, and enjoy it. Without these great young wrestlers at the MS state tournament, I'd have found the wrestling rather boring and would have preferred to stay at home. Congratulations to all of the champions and placers! Take pride in your accomplishments and ignore topics like this! Like I should have!!!

From what I've been told the only choice they will have to make is to wrestle HS State Duals or MS State Duals. The region and state weekends stay the same as they currently are, MS state the weekend before HS regional.
  5. It can be found on www.kyswa.org. However, it is not kept up to date. The last year listed is 2007.

When will State Brackets be posted

This is a very competitive weight class. The one side has Wiley, Erdman, and Gilkey, and the other side has Emerson, Roth, Goshorn, and Auxier. All 7 are tough good kids. I don't see anything jacked up. Auxier almost beat Gilkey at state duals, and Wiley, Erdman, Roth, and Goshorn have taken turns beating each other. Should be fun to watch the brackets unfold. They all better come prepared.

    State Champ Predictions

Not to make excuses for Goshorn because Wiley totally dominated him, but Matthew wasn't himself. He had stuff coming out both ends the day before regionals. The Wiley/Goshorn match at Fern Creek is what we would have seen if Matthew was at full strength. Fern Creek came down to the last second. It could go either way, but as WHS98 has said, the clear favorite is Gilkey (I've thought so since May-July @ all of the summer tournaments) with Wiley, Goshorn, Erdman, Roth, and Auxier waiting for him to make a mistake. I don't look for him to make one though, Chris will come with his "A" game.

    82

    Yes, Fausz will be 82.

    TEAM KENTUCKY?

I'm pretty sure that the MS association president (Jay Yenter) is taking care of this.

    82

Which tournament did they face each other, and what was the score? This weight class is Ervin, Fausz, Blackwell then whoever peaks at the right time. I could be wrong, but I don't see Hines making 82. He's much thicker than the other 3. Has he certified at 82? If he does make it, then throw Hines into the top four. Would make for a very interesting weight class.

Top ten freshmen in the state

Brent Hitchings - 2 or 3 time M.S. state champion should be considered. I guess when Fahy is on your team you get overlooked.

    Jake Burroughs

Sean is only a 3rd year wrestler. His first full season was his 4th grade year. So he is only a 3 time champion, and a 1 time M.S. champion. M.S. championship was much more rewarding for him. From what I've seen of Jake the last 3 years, I'd say he has the potential to be the next John Fahy, totally dominating at the M.S. level.

    Youth Regionals

Patti, expand your search. I think it is Prestonburg that is about 11 miles away. I believe they have 5 hotels.

    Best in the State

This thread has become ridiculous. We saw some very good wrestling this weekend from some very talented young wrestlers, and all anyone can find to talk about is someone's age. This group of state placers along with last years are going to produce many state champions in the next 4-8 years at the middle and high school level. They're all the best in the state in my opinion. The talent level across the state continues to rise, and the future of Kentucky wrestling look bright.

    Regional results

Will the complete regional results for all 4 regions be posted on here or www.kyswa.org? When? It would be nice to see the brackets from the regionals including the score of each match.

Corrnett- Dixie Frank - CC Kersey - CC Ruschell looked unbeatable. He was hands down the best wrestler in the tournament yesterday. There wasnt really that many close championship bouts. Fausz, Brown, Yenter, Ruschell,Vickers, Cooper, Mooris, Woltinezek and the Heavyweight all dominated there matches and looked really good. Bachman- Heiro was an awesome match as was the 140's they were going at it! Logan Jones got a defensive pin on Ard with about 30-40 seconds left in a bout he was losing. Overall i thought it went very well, there was some bad calls but it never affected our team as much as it did others. There were experienced refs there, Cole and Hardy. And the hospitality room was awesome as well!! Please someone fill in the rest or change anynames that are on here Filled in what I know. CC placed all 14 of their A-team wrestler's and 2 of their B-team. 11 of the 16 qualifiers were in the finals. Great job boys, and a great job by coach Holbrook, Barrett, and Yenter this year. 2 more hard weeks of practice and then the big show. Keep up the hard work.
