  1. Just for the record the whole thumb wrestling thing... although is fair and legit as can be. Is completely a one-sided competition, its to my knowledge that SnapDrag has never lost a thumb wrestling match. Hes ranked first with a 223-0 record, according to kentuckythumbwrestling.com  Now I'm just spitballing here. But i believe the only fair way to solve the rankings is a madden tournament between the coaches. Sounds Fair to me. Maybe i'm a little off though... :-D

thanks for exposing my skills, unfortunately i suffered a thumb labral tendon tear and have been forced to retire from thumb wrestling. im down with the madden tournament however as i have adapted my feet to use the controller.

in all seriousness, who in the heck has a current list of teams entered this year. so far from n.ky , i know its ryle, simon kenton, and walton verona.

  2. Now thats funny!

I never go for the shinny new thing. I'll stick with tried and true. Besides i don't think there are any rental vacancies left in the district.

Obviously I was joking about the recuiting. I wasn't kidding about how good that group of kids is though. More importantly, most of the freshmen mentioned wrestle all year round.

Well that's too bad, he would fit right in at Paris graham south aka-walton verona.ha ha. If you change your mind we got a church parking lot and I know an old ryle  family selling a camper you could stay in. It's only been used for 3 months.

  3. There are more kids on the team than these five, and they are just as good or better. Glad to see interest in the Walton program and excited to see some very talented kids coming back and moving up to varsity from last years program.

I think we will see some good things from some of the returning guys as well ie; Zack Compton, Quincey , and of course the Higgens Brothers. Should be an exciting year for Barnsey's group.

Hey Raider-there still is time for your boy to make the move (legally of course). ha ha

  4. great room tonight barnsey, about 20 tough kids. i think there has been 2-3 state champs, few state runner ups and a few more placers . suppose to be some etown boys coming over the weekend as well as some lexington guys. looks like ky is putting in the time to get the results at nationals.

  5. ohio just had their first girl state qualifier in their wrestling history.  paige nemac took 4th in her district in d2. i thought the stout girl from bourban would qualify this year in ky, not sure what happened but she looked tough this year.

  6. Josh Johnson--2010 152lb Champion

                            2009 135lb 3rd place

                            2008 130lb Champion

                            2007 119lb 3rd place

                            2006 112lb Runner up

I dont think this has been mentioned due to Josh not wanting to make a big deal about it leading up to state, but he hit the 300 career win mark with the finals match. That puts him 2nd all time in the history of wrestling in the US. Outstanding career. Congrats Josh.

  7. The Frankfort Civic Center is rented for the week of State already for at least the next two years.  Hold the Youth on Monday, Middle on Tues/Wed., High School the rest of the week as normal.

This takes control of the event out of the hands of an individual school system, allows multiple teams to make money for their programs instead of (1), and brings all levels of competition together for one big show.

The Youth association allows different teams to be the host team each year.  That team is responsible for recruiting tableworkers, hiring refs, setting up the tournament and running the tournament under the supervision of the board.  This allows different teams to make money for their program every year.  Enough money to fund most programs for several years.

stan, first off nice job on locking up the civic center for youth, you are obviously a couple years ahead in your thinking over the middle school board. secondly, this is a great solution to the problem if in fact the civic center is already rented for the week. i believe i was told you are the one who locked this up for the youth, if so would you communicate your idea to the middle school wrestling board. my only thought i would offer for consideration is to wrestle the first night of middle school in the evening so the middle school kids who wrestle high school would only miss three days of school instead of four. thanks for your out of the box thinking you have brought to the state.

  8. Slaughter me if u must for putting this out there but can we present the idea of canceling youth regionals to have state for middle school next Saturday

and still have youth state the weekend after

they already automatically qualify for state they'd just have a easier pass Into it

but it beats the hell out if no ms state at all! Or having it close to march which I pray will not be a option

instead of elementary regionals being a warm up for the state , where regardless of placement everyone still makes the state tourney in frankfort and we have a 1000 elementary kids there, how about we take the top four from each region in elementary and allow only those kids to go to elementary state in frankfort. this will free up valuable mat space at the tourney in frankfort to hold the middle school state championship simultaneously.
