  1. None of that made sense, Shawn quit talking.

is not that i had anything to say that whole 2 weeks or so

but the onlt reason it that so much as the fact that if i did have something to say, i wouldnt have been able to say it

    =[ but its cool

im back now and things can get back to normal

  2. No it won't prepare you for Parris Island.  My brother wrestled for 6 years and went to boot camp about 2 weeks after school graduation and was still in good shape from wrestling as we did tournaments after the season and continued to run about 4 miles a day and work out.  He said his easiiest week at Parris Island was twice as hard as any week of wrestling practice.  So no it won't, but you will be better off, maybe, than others who have done nothing.

I'm just waiting for my chance to leave next summer. I've ran 3 miles a day along with other excercises on my own for the past four days. Hopefully this, along with wrestling, will get me somewhat prepared for Parris Island.

  3. I don't believe title IX is truly an argument as females are allowed to wrestle as well.  Contact julian Tackett at the KHSAA, he should be able to help.  Or Coach Fiser at South Oldham would probably help as well.  if you go to khsaa.org you can get to Julian's email address as well as a list of current coaches.  Fiser should be on that list too.

  4. I would assume he was probably referring to the recruitment practices more so than transfers...you are right there are very few transfers to either of those schools but many encouraged to go there.  It will continue forever so most people need to just accept it and be mad about it but not much else you can do.

Don't speak of what you don't know.  There have been very few, if any, transfers to either St. X. or Trinity for football and definitely none that have helped their programs.  Where people focus their attention when dealing with the X & Trinity football programs is on "unfair" recruiting of middle school kids or at least that is what most try to claim.  Now off the football subject because this is a kentucky wrestling forum.

  5. Some things come easy for some people....kinda like "egszisted" or"exzest"...Remember the source it's coming from.

Every team on here with the exception of Lloyd memorial had a wrestler qualify for the state tournament.

I know Lloyd had a team in 1983 and 1984 because we competed against them and I knew there only Regional qualifier. (this is when you had to place in the top 4 in District to qualify for Region)

I also have a copy of every state championship book back to 1971

    Thomas Edison had these qualifiers

    1980

    Harris, Juan-----------167

    Hornback, David------185

    1981

    Peals, John------------119

    Peals, Greg------------132 6th

    Jesse, Mike------------Hwt

You make yourself look less intellegent when you make fun of someone when you are the one who is incorrect.

  6. According to the KHSAA site both Walls were seniors....it seems as though they have been around for awhile!!

When you compare ranked kids, BC has Bennett and both Walls (at least one was a senior, right?).  Woodford has Courtney, Bracco, and Kraziewicz.  Based on ranked kids it looks like BC has an edge.  But who honestly sees Woodford finishing that low?  That would be hard to believe.

  7. I agree with you, as I think coach Anderson is often overlooked when talking about good coaches.  He was lucky too to get a 103 that is an gymnast!!  Could you have a better off season than that?  I think he would be hard pressed to stay at 103 next year though.

Another example of what good coaching (Chuck Anderson) can do.

  8. What my point was is that both guys are required to stay in bounds, so why should the guy who shot get a point because the other guy sprawled and went out of bounds...the one who shot may be no where near getting a takedown but gets a point because the other sprawled out of bounds?  When one is just as responsible for staying in bounds as the other...I saw that called this weekend too.  Once the offensive wrestler wasn't even close to getting a takedown, but shot in three times and the defensive was called for fleeing the mat, but he had just enough time to stand up and sprawl again.

if a kid shoots in, gets a leg, and is getting ready to get a take down, why would he rush the kid out????

  9. There is a difference between trying to stay in bounds and pushing his opponent out of bounds.  He is required to try and stay inbounds regardless of offensive or defensive.

i am sure that the off wrestler is not going to try and push him out if he is gonna get two....and no the def wrestler does not have to put himself in danger but he will give up that penalty point.

  10. I will say I like the way the matches are officiated at state with stalling being called more.  But with that being said no ref calls it the same during the season....I think every coach and wrestler will agree with that.  We had seen everyone of those refs this season with the exception of Walls and there was an obvious difference between this weekend and the rest of the season, there always is.  I wish the season was called like this so that it would keep the action going more and make kids keep moving, not stalling or hanging on.

  11. 1.  Ford

    2.  Walls

    3.  Shaw (except for the illegal slam he called against us that cost us the match, it was a 6 point swing and we lost by 2).

    4.  Cole

    5.  Barnett

    5.  Shumate

    5.  Cattan

    8.  Durham

I think alot of this is prejudiced too base on seeing them through the year.  This was the first time I had seen Walls ref and I think he did good.  It's hard to not have a prejudiced when you disagree with some through the year as well.  I would say 5-7 were really equal.  I will have to hand it (no pun intended) to Ford for battleing it out this weekend after getting his thumb dislocated early on Friday when someones foot came flying through the air from a headlock and hit his hand.  One of the trainers put it back in and he iced it en between matches and then had it splinted.  I saw him go over to the middle of the mats and I thought he was going to pass out.

  12. Gotta be careful with that so they don't end up going to other schools and hurt yours instead of helping it.

How about Choate beating ashbrooke and Issacs.  Excitement is an understatement.  WOWe wow wow.  !52 lb state champ.  Thats awsome.  Region three just keeps producing state champs more and more every year.  Coaching has stepped it up big time.  The athletes were always there just interested in other sports.  Look out Ky.  Look for one of those underdogs every year to be nippin at those heels.  Wait until they get a fedder system going.  It will be like fern creeks everywhere.

  13. I hate to see that being a J-town alum, but they seem to be getting a little bit better now as they have a real young team but good athletes.  Hopefully Dean will be able to get them back to where we were years ago...mediocre.  :-D

Boone County did good at beating Jeffersontown, Perry County and University Heights. They Also tied with Paducah Tilghman!

  14. I was just wondering about Chris because he is listed in the handbook that all coaches get in their packets as being a ref for the 2008 tournament so i was wondering about that as I never saw him officiate this year like I have in years past.  The masters would explain that I guess.

Chris was never listed as a ref for this year's tournament because he didn't officiate this year while finishing his masters. And one of the West Virginia guys who does a heck of a job had already said he had Air Force duties that weekend, but he supposedly told KHSAA that information early in the school year. I do have the good fortune of talking to all of the referees who are worth a dime and no one that I talked to turned it down.

  15. WOW, lies and crap?  I know for sure of one ref that couldn't do it this year because of work issues...which is the reason I said that.  And i know a few years ago Barnett couldn't do it because it fell on his national guard duty and couldn't get out of it...so I know it happens and it is true.  Chris Shaw was listed as a ref for the state tournament originally anyone know why he didn't do it?  I saw him there on Friday for a little while.

Coach, that isn't accurate so don't perpetuate lies and crap. Having talked to most of the officials in the state, I haven't found a single one who has turned down the request to work when the state called. Not a single one. Now are some not officiating AT ALL during the season due to conflicts, probably so. But to imply that there are better officials who somehow turned down the state because of work, just isn't true.

  16. No, it's state tournament time when all the administrators are watching so it's time to step up the calling stalls.  I know they would rather see more called than less.  If the season were called like this all season I wouldn't have a problem with it, but it was stepped up last week at our regionals and then even more in the state tournament.

I was glad to see some fleeing the mat called, I do agree there were more called this weekend than the previous 10 years combined, but again, if it was called correctly through the season you wouldn't see it so much at the end.

Legs I have a whole issue with.  if you can't turn someone from their base position in 10-12 seconds than it needs to be a stalemate as there isn't anything the guy on the bottom can quite often do without putting himself in jeopardy.  And like you say G.O.O. if the legs are repeatedly put in and results in a stalemate than it should be and is stalling.

Any stats on stalling calls?  I bet Ky set the national record for stalling calls.  Did the refs make these calls all season?  :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o

  17. It's also because they are the ones who are able to afford to take off work for 2-3 days or can even get off work.  For what they get paid to do it it is hard/not possible for some refs to go.

Mat Mama, I think you should be an official.  You seem to have all the right calls. You seem to know 4 refs only.  Do you know the others and how many times each has been at state.  I have seen them all at tournaments all year and they are the best.  They are called back for a reason.  Lots of people want jobs but can not do them.  Maybe, they can add your name to the job list next year.

  18. Even more of a shame than those teams that aren't around is Waggener.  Anyone on here who was around in the late '80's and early '90's knows that that was once a powerful team.  And really for any Jefferson County school to no longer have a team is a shame, there should be enough people around here to be able to keep it and of course there is enough competition within a short distance not like some schools out in the state that have to travel for hours every week.
