From what I am told, as many as they can until either it gets too late or until 5 match rule hits. So i would think it would be most everything but the placement matches.

Coaches meeting is tomorrow at 7 for seeding and meeting. Weighins are 7-8 with wrestling hopefully starting around 9 depending on the outcome of weigh-ins to see if everyone made it. They said we will go as far as we can on Saturday (5 match rule I imagine) and then finish on Sunday at noon for weighins with wrestling as soon after as we can.

Only if you make it to the second day. Some kids will but not most of them.

I just heard that OC is closed for school tomorrow too, so that may change some stuff.

Are they still going to have it since they didn't have school today and who knows about tomorrow yet?

Oh that would explain it then. As Ranger has stated many times, off season tourneys don't really count for much. But good luck the rest of the season.

I think something most of you kids forget is that not all coaches or refs are teachers and have that type of schedule for work to allow us/them to do this. Quite often doing reffing or coaching is a big sacrifice for us with our family at home. There are several times through the year i can't make matches because I have to work or I try to get to my son and daughters basketball games too. So if he had to leave for his regular full-time job that pays his bills then even if he agreed to do it there is no way anyone should get upset at him....now if it was at noon than that's a different story but I don't think anyone expected to be there that late. IF the unattached teams and the jv teams weren't there then it would have been much earlier a stop time in the day and wouldn't have been an issue, or one more mat for the number of schools.

Moore hasn't been to a tourney in Lafayette, so it couldn't have been Levi Shafer and he hasn't wrestled at 130 yet due to weight loss plan. So not sure who you think you wrestled if you are from Tate's Creek we haven't seen anyone from there yet...good luck tho!

It is always a 2 day tournament because of the fact there are 20+ teams in it. Usually 2 rounds on Friday then the rest is done on Saturday.

I was not there to see that particular match as I had to leave early but I would say that the refs that were there did a great job overall throughout the long day. I would find it very hard to believe that any of them would call it as bad as you say. All the mats had short out of bound areas so its hard to believe that they would land out of bounds every time and would get credit for a takedown. Are you aware that you can land out of bounds with the offensive guys feet inbounds and it is still a takedown? Many wrestlers do not know that. I also doubt that he would be celebrating with any team, as there were no refs there that are fresh out of a wrestling program and so wouldn't still know any of the other kids there.

There's not really a way of winning the weight class in this type tournament because you only have 5 matches and there were 24 teams. So it just came down I imagine to who looked most impressive throughout the day.

It should be Moore, Manual, Southern, Providence IN ( i believe that's the right Indiana school), Valley and Fairdale. We had another school back out this week because most of his team is sick or ineligible. I believe they were down to 4 or 5 wrestlers.

The KOB also has North Hardin listed as being there as well....At this rate it might be a short day!!

The JV state isn't meant to take anything away from any other program or tournament. The thought was that if it is a light (relatively) weekend that it would allow a time for teams to send jv wrestlers for a shot at something they may not otherwise get to do. Yea there are tournaments and matches through the year for jv wrestlers but not near as many as the varisty level, so this is something that was brought up as a goal for jv wrestlers to shoot for and to keep them in the sport and not just get 3-4 matches a year and get beat up on in practice all the time by varsity level guys. We always hope that teams are able to send some kids and coaches with them to do it and have had many teams come. Of course it would be great to get even more teams involved in it but it is yet another expense the schools would have to burden so that is understood as well. But we hope to keep getting more kids in it each year and keep them shooting for a goal. And even though they aren't on the varsity level, it still makes more good matches due to the fact that so many of them are on the same experience level.

Yes we will when it happens..hopefully we will still have enough coaches and fan support to be able to do it. It just seems like the best weekend of the choices that are out there

Yes it is very stup....I don't think there is actually a single coach that agrees with it and i don't think there are many AD's that agree with it either, but the Head athletics guy and his right hand person think it is a good idea and good for the sport. Kinda weird considering all the people who are against it and don't think it is a good idea but they do what they want to do. And I am sure everyone on here who has been to one the last two years will agree it is not as good as at the high schools, but what can you do? i gave a couple suggestions last year but kinda got scolded for it for not a good reason. But that's another topic.

Granby nailed it. I went there about 6 years ago when I lived pretty close to it and tried to talk to them about getting a program started there for the above mentioned reasons and was told it wouldn't happen. It was never specifically said but that's the reason I infered from the conversation. And it is a shame becaue I think they would be really competitive especially since as southern112 kinda backwardly points out, most of their students don't come from around that area and wouldn't pull from just one school.

I find it hard to believe that the referee didn't see it. If it was the finals match there should have been two refs so one of them should have been able to see it due to positioning. If they didn't see it then how was it called? Did the coach point it out? Just wondering how it came about and if he got disqualified or if he just lost the match due to an illegal move.

region 6 is already posted on the khsaa.org site so you could check there. Looks like Ryle is taking everyone and ran away with it.

Does anyone know if regions 1 and 8 are going to participate in J.V. state this year? If so have you all had a region qualifier tournament to decide who is going to go? It's only 2 weeks away for the actual tournament so time is running out on the chance to do it.

I would find it hard to believe that a medical trainer for a school would have an override compared to a doctor. A trainer can't determine that an athlete is not allowed to wrestle in a meet, only a doctor can do that so I don't see how in a non-meet that they can do that.

Well then I will reiterate what I said earlier. We need to tell our parents of our kids as well as neighbors, friends, etc. to call Jerry Wyman and let him know that it should'nt be this way and needs to go back to the way it should be. I have already called and sent a snail mail letter as well. Next will be my parents and siblings..

Believe me i don't think it should be at Hoops at all. I hope that region 3 is able to go somewhere else and while I don't know about wether or not BC is bound by anything up here or not I am sure that Jefferson County has some say in it as there are so many schools in that region. I still encourage all parents, fans, wrestlers, coaches, anyone to call and email jefferson county athletics department and specifically Jerry Wyman and let him know that you don't want to go to Hoops for whatever reason and encourage it to go back to the schools like it should and always has been. If region 3 is able to pull out and region 5 not doing it again this year I don't see any way that region 4 would have to go out there and do it. Just my .02

Barnett graduated from Central, I don't think Moore was around then. The stone tablets hadn't made it out that far to the burbs yet...jk. and I thought Shumate was from Indiana.

I think everyone needs to call/write to the athletic director at their school as well as at the school board and tell them that we don't want to have it together and needs to be separated...I think if enough parents and fans voice their opinion they will have to do something about it. JCPS is more likely to listen to parents then they are to administrators or coaches of the schools. Just my opinion.
