    Question about Alltech Arena

it looks like from the video online that it should be able to hold 6 mats without modiifying it anyway. It says the surface area is 300x100. But compare this arena to one at a large state that has 8-10 mats down then there isn't a bad seat here if it looks like it will on state.

    160

Yea I did too, just not the exact score as one of our matches was starting right before that one ended. It was tough...

    160

hhmmm...I could have looked there I guess!! It shows 4-3.

    160

I am thinking 4-3 or 5-4 for some reason but I could be way off base. I know it came down to a last second takedown.

    160

Many very questionable calls in this match too. There were alot of them the whole night at Region 4, not sure why. I saw one match that ended 5-4. 5 of the points that were awarded were from fleeing the mat and another one was for unnecesary roughness while riding a cross wrist....very odd match.

    North Oldham Results

I don't know, but that made 160 real hard at region with Pledger, Jarvis and Hitchings.

    North Oldham Results

Tinity 1st, Oldham 2nd, Moore 3rd. There were many good matches, a couple that stick out...Rosado/Kahl, Jarvis/Hitchings. I know there were others, but not sure of the names.

    Mustang classic at North Oldham

I would assume this is going to be Trinity's JV team?

State Duals Split into Big School/Little School

I would not be in favor of a split. What would it be based on, the football states like Jacket said or do you do it based on total school enrollment since girls wrestle more then play football? Then do you still invite the schools based on the region? If so what do you do if a region doesn't have a small school (or a big school) in it's area or if it isn't really good enough to even compete (ie not a full team). Would you just invite the best 12 teams in small/big divisions, maybe based on what the coaches association office holders vote on?

    results????

The results were put up hours ago by Coach Smith. Look under the title for the Hardin Tournament started by someone else, he just didn't put it under a different thread...

    Trojan invitational

If wrestling starts at 10 is weigh ins not until 8? Anyone know? Thanks.
  14. You also have to remember that Trinity wasn't there so that would have changed the outcome some of the team scores, especially at the 138, 152, 195 and 220 weights. I think Southern gained the most points with those individuals not there so it's kinda hard to rank a team just based on that tournament. I am sure Ranger will look at several tournaments, Southern did good at the KOB too, I don't know what teams were there but it will all be considered I am sure.

    Trojan invitational

It is also Moore's JV team as well.
  16. I would say Jarvis is a bit (alot) underranked as he was out all last year but he was tough before that injury for sure.

  18. I went to J-town a few years after he graduated and I know Coach Haydock had nothing but great things to say about him and Larry Little. He always told how those two would go at each other and everyone would get out of the way because if you didnt you would get run over. He was only about 190# and wrestled heavyweight because he didn't want to take a spot away from Larry. I have met him a few times when I was in high school and he would come up to the room. He was an impressive character for sure. Sad to hear.

    2011 KY JV State results

There were a few teams that opted not to come at the last minute. We hope to get more participation each year and get it to actually grow to full JV teams. I hope some of these other teams/regions will participate in future years. It was some good wrestling all day long and a pretty smooth tournament, thanks to everyone who came and participated.

    Mark Hall

I don't think anyone is hating on him for doing well, it's the side stuff that is bad. Why can't he just stay on grade level and keep competing just as well? Maybe he really can't handle the school stuff if he spends too much time doing other stuff. I dont feel good that he came to KY for one year (actually a few months) to wrestle and then leave and go somewhere else. It did nothing for our sport in our state and it is a shame. Leave the morals out of it? That's sad if you truly are a coach here and you say that..the morals should be first and wrestling next. I am glad you weren't my coach or at my school, I would be transferring somewhere else for sure.
  21. I don't think it will affect the Jefferson County School from fielding a FULL team, but it will lower the numbers for sure. There weren't many full squads in Jefferson County to begin with. I can think of maybe 5 and don't think those will really be affected from the middle school kids, but the ones that had maybe 10 weight classes filled will probably be the ones that will lose some kids and then go down to maybe 7 or weight classes.

2011 State Tournament Will Be @ Frankfort Again

Wow, 4hours? I don't know how you drive, but it's 2 1/2 hours max on a good traffic day. I can get down to Harlan KY in 4hours. I used to go to Livingston in 2 1/2-3 hours and that is 25 miles past Richmond. My sister used to commute to EKU from Louisville for 2 semesters and she would do it in just over 2 from where my parents lived so it wouldn't be that bad of a drive for any team here. But it is far for the Western teams.

2011 State Tournament Will Be @ Frankfort Again

It has been mentioned before to go there. The problems that were previous stated were the cost to rent it, current rent is free, and some stated there weren't enough hotels in the area that would be able to support it. Another was that the high school that does all the running for the tickets, is franklin county? not sure. They wouldn't be there to do it since it wasn't their city so who would take that over? Is there a high school near EKU that has wrestling?

2011 State Tournament Will Be @ Frankfort Again

I think it's funny how everyone is worried about advancing the sport in KY...it is farther than it was 15 years ago, but is never going to get to the likes of Indiana, Ohio, Florida, etc. There just are not that many kids in high school for one compared to those states and not as many schools. The upper level kids are getting better in KY there is no doubt about that and I think that other schools are better than what they used to be too. If state is 2 days or 3 days it makes no difference to the quality of the wrestlers that win it. If you go back to district, region, state it wouldn't advance the sport in this state any, it would be a minor decision that noone outside of the state would even care or notice! If it gets a few more kids to participate because they stand a chance to go to state then good. What if football went to only 3 divisions for schools, do you think it would affect the quality of the top teams that win state...no. But it would make a few schools not stand a chance to be able to compete for a state title because they are in a division with some powerhouses. When it comes down to it, the way to advance the sport in this state is to try and keep all the kids that graduate involved in the sport by either, refereeing, coaching and continue to compete. It would be good if more youth teams could get started in different parts of the state, that is where you will start to see the advancement of the sport, not with high school. By then it is too late. Just my .02

    Food Concessions

That's the best way to get it done...The more people that do it the better it will be, fans, parents, wrestlers and coaches. Of course if you are a coach make sure your AD is aware of the situation before you do it. I found out about that last year the hard way! Apparently, at least in JCPS, it's a chain of command and not an open door policy like at other employers I have been at!
