KentuckyWrestling.com HS Rankings - 2007/2008 January 30

who has harrison courtney beat this year? he is still ranked number 1....there are some wrestlers who he may not have results for, or they may wrestle out of state so much the only results they have is from stuff like state duals... -
99% sure they will. The only time they haven't was when they had Scherer, Scott, and Murner. They have no surefire state champ competitors, so I bet everyone will be there.
-
I remember that match and thought there was nothing wrong with it.
-
dont make me laugh, morlatt will annihilate him, pin, if not then he'll win by 8+
-
I wrestled for a few reasons, in no particular order: -I was finally better than my brothers at something. -I liked to win. -I liked to do physical things. -It was fun. -It may sound bad or mean, but there is a pleasure when you embarass other wrestlers on the mat.
-
Courtney would win by 5 points max against Beau, and he would lose if he wrestled at 160, I'm not sure about 152.
-
I still strongly dislike this idea, for 2 main reasons. First, it will not achieve the main goal it is setting out to achieve, which I believe is to get more fans to watch. This will discourage fans from coming because of such a far drive, and the general public is not going to be there...sorry, but I'm a realist. Second, because I've heard nothing so far as to how school's are going to profit off of this, it should be known Regionals is a huge fund-raiser for schools. Also, why is wrestling going to be the only sport that does this? Not even football, basketball, volleyball, any sport does this except for schools that don't have a proper venue to hold such an event, like swimming. Terrible idea all around.
-
highly doubt that...most of them will be at the same weight class
-
I'd say 135 with 125 right behind them... 135 has more "top-notch wrestlers" and better overall wrestlers through the top 12-15, but as a whole 125 has better depth. Harder weight class to place in? 135. It's no coincidence the weakest weightclass this year (besides 103), is 130.
-
My Team... 103 - Myron Bradbury 112 - Michael Osbourne 119 - Matt Zarth 125 - Coty Vinsant 130 - Josh Johnson 135 - Matt Slone 140 - Korey Shotwell 145 - Harrison Courtney 152 - Dakoda Choate 160 - Mitch Ervin 171 - Brad Hitchings 189 - Ryan Kelly 215 - Derek Nickel 285 - Jordan Whiting (if he wrestles senior year, if not then Billy Fuller)

.05% is actually 5 out of 10,000. On top of that, it's not absurd for some kids to have this kind of strength. Riordan was nuts, at the Oldham County Strength and Conditioning Tournament that they hold before each football season, he did bench somewhere around 420. Also, taking supplements like creatine, and generic products like NO-Explode for several years and also lifting extremely hard for those years will make you very strong. I lifted very, very hard for only 4 months while taking NO-Explode and my bench was at 270 before cutting weight, and only dropped to 245 when I cut to 130. That was only for 4 months. My brother wrestled at 160 and maybe cut 3-5 pounds, but had the best work ethic I ever knew and he bench 325 his senior year...he had also been lifting and using creatine on and off for over 5 years. Lift for a long time, and you WILL be VERY STRONG.

who do you think is the strongest in you weight class
130alum replied to fortknoxhwt's topic in 2008 Season
Daniel Miller of St. X and Jordan Whiting of Trinity are definitely the two strongest kids in the state for weight class. -
Why does South Oldham shake their coaches hand first?
130alum replied to Olympic_wish's topic in 2008 Season
i like what south wrestlers do, its not like they are disrespecting anyone, they still shake the other wrestler's hand and the other coach's hand, so whats the big deal? why does the other coach deserve to get their hand shaked first? i want to thank my coach first by shaking his hand, and then go congratulate/show respect to the other coach. it seems to me like south wrestlers have their priorities set right. -
I don't think so. He's been out for too long, and doesn't have always have his head screwed on right.
-
Yes, they have a team this year. They have between 4 and 6 wrestlers, mostly underclassmen.
-
Unless another incident happens like last year's State Duals, when something like half of their team was out with injuries or illness.
-
Why is it Brandon's responsibility to travel to Ohio to duel St. Ed's or Graham, they need to travel to Florida. A champion doesn't need to go around proving their superiority, rather have teams come to them so they can defend their superiority. They had the target on their backs, so why go strut around the country with it in plain sight?
-
It looked like he was going to lose to Wheeler from Larue in the second match at state. One point match.
-
the 130 from St. X looked really good when I saw him wrestle a few days ago...he's my bet to take 130 at Jefferson County.
-
Not really. He only beat Wheeler by one point last year at state, and Choate by 4 at state. And what has he accomplished this year? Reid took 6th at Beast of the East, what has Wolsiefer done at national tournaments? Reid stuck the #2 kid as well. I think Wolsiefer used to be the best wrestler in the state, but not anymore. A few people have passed him up.

NO vs. FC 103 - South in a pin. NO 6 FC 0 112 - Wiexler in a pin. NO 6 FC 6 119 - Rusch in major decision. NO 10 FC 6 (don't know anything about FC kid on this) 125 - Zeppa in a pin. NO 16 FC 6 130 - Dudley in a major decision. NO 20 FC 6 (don't know anything about FC kid on this) 135 - Branch in a decision. NO 20 FC 9 (could go either way) 140 - Aretakis in a pin. NO 26 FC 9 145 - Barger in a decision. NO 26 FC 12 (could go either way) 152 - Mann in a decision. NO 26 FC 15 (could go either way) 160 - Wolsiefer in a pin. NO 26 FC 21 171 - Waller in a decision. NO 26 FC 24 (could go either way) 189 - Hardin in a pin. NO 26 FC 30 215 - Chaney in a pin. NO 26 FC 36 285 - Gooch accepts forfeit. NO 32 FC 36 If everything goes as predicted, it's a close one. However there are several things to look at. Sever matches could go to the other team at several weight classes, so in a duel this close anything can happen. Also, I think it is VERY VERY important which weightclass the dual starts at. 119 would be ideal for North Oldham, as usally a few wins usually makes teammates wrestle exceptionally better in North Oldham's case. However, a start at 160 could kill the spirits of North wrestlers, and a lot of times in the past starting off slow has hurt them more than it should in duels, and wrestlers don't wrestle as well as they normally would. It'll be a good one.
-
Actually, it's doubtful Zeppa and Parks will wrestle b/c they are in different pools. However, if Lewis can make it down to 130 by this time, he will wrestle Morlatt who is more than likely already at weight. I'm pretty sure he weighed around 132-134 last year, naturally. Zeppa v. Carmen will be an interesting match, as they both are quicker wrestlers on their feet not really relying on their strength and both throw in their legs rather effectively. Assuming the top seeded teams move on, I think North Oldham v. Central Hardin will be a really good match, with neither teams having very many "top notch" wrestlers but a few guys who are pretty darn good and have a decent chance at placing 5-8 this year at state. My money is on Seneca to win the whole thing, as I think a lot of Woodford wrestlers won't be at weight yet.
