Is PRP really going to be that strong this year? An assistant coach in Henderson County, Jermaine Pointer said he used to wrestle for PRP. Just wondering if anybody got to see him wrestle.

Dont think I see South Oldham or Campbell County in the top five. Union Trinity Fern Creek Wayne County Woodford/John Hardin maybe a push, but could be there year to shine

Union will dominate. Christian, Henderson, and Ft Campbell should be a tight race. As far as individuals that will surprise people. Kyra from Apollo will probably make it to state. I could see any kid from 145 surprising the region. That was probably the weakest weight class last year. 215 will be interesting with the return of Cody Johnson from Henderson. 125 will be a really tough weight class. 119 was definately the toughest last year. Scotty Hogan, if he gets in a good weight class could surprise some people. Good work ethic. Austin Conner is a sleeper from UHA that could step up this year. Let the games begin

I use to coach Henderson County, now I am the sports editor in Spencer County. Only 15 minutes from Owensboro. I am trying to get South Spencer and Heritage Hills to come to the Henderson Duals. I talked to Kenny, he said that Apollo would be coming to the Henderson Duals.

The site that I adore on a basketball floor are wrestling mats from door to door. I had countless guys from other sports always want to get on the mat with me during PE. Most of them outweighed me. I particularly liked the match where I put a 190 pound football/basketball player in a fireman

County is what Christian County refers to themselves. I wrestled there my sophomore year with Anthony Smith, before finishing out at UC my senior year. Its just what they all call it, because there are city schools.

The state tournament is a special place. I dare any former state tournament veteran to come back to the tourney and not get chills when the lights go out. We always had some silly music, but last year I really got a kick out of that rap song that was sang to the music of the Beegees Staying Alive. LOL Anyone know what song im talking about?

What is the point of arguing between a fourteenth ranking and a 22nd ranking? State only goes back eight places. The best part of wrestling is: rankings dont mean anything. Sure it gives you an idea of where a kid is, but if a higher ranked wrestler does not train, work hard, and want it, a lower ability kid that has put in the hours of running after practice and in the gym, will beat him.

Where is Pike Central. Never really heard of them. New Program?

It is good to hear that someone is getting pumped up about wrestling. Yes Apollo has a few talented wrestlers, but to place at regionals they will really need to step up their game. One third place finish last year and a handfull of sixth place finishes. I like Kenny Stone, and Kara has the heart of a champion, but I just dont see them placing. Well find out if the people in this discussion board have been eating cheetos and typing away on their computer or actually training this summer soon enough. Let the games begin. Wrestling tournaments are only two months away!

You guys chill on Scotty Hogan. I have coached Hogan for two years. He is the hardest worker in the practice room. He is settling down, and taking a different approach to wrestling. Has done some offseason tourneys and such. I could see Hogan wrestling 125 if Bryce Alexander goes 130. If Hogan wrestles Bryce every day in practice the 125lbs guys in his weight class will not seem so bad. I wouldnt be surprised to see ol scotty make it to state again this year. Also, does anyone remember Cody Johnson. HES BACK. Could be a factor at 215.

I have watched Mitch wrestle for a few years. I am from Union County, but it is really tough to say. Harrison is tough. Last year Mitch found a way to win the close matches. That is the final I am looking forward to see this year at state. I think the winner will get MOW.

No, Dont think UC is going to send any team. I talked to Dennis, and they are some where else that day. Anderson County, Apollo, Daviess, Christian, Henderson, a Mater Dei Squad, possibly Tecumseh in Southern Indiana, Callaway Co. Also working on some more Southern Indiana teams, but we will only allow 10 teams max. Would Like to see Fort Campbell, and Hopkinsville if they are reading this. Still waiting on some teams. A tennesse team backed out. Should be some good matches for Henderson

Henderson County Wrestling will be holding a duals tournament on November 24. This should be a ten team tourney with awards going to the top two teams. At this point the tournament has around 5 teams interested. Two teams from Indiana would like to attend. Mater Dei, Ind is suppose to send a team to the tournament. About three other Western Ky teams have been invited and plan to attend. Teams throughout the state are welcome and should contact Coach brandon Cole at sportseditor@psci.net if interested. Each wrestler regardless of skill should get a full day of matches in, as some individual tournaments see new wrestlers get two matches and then sit around for the rest of the day.

I dont understand all this talk about caldwell and Hoptown.....Now if Willie could get a motivated team he could turn Hoptown in to a state contender. Caldwell will not be a top two. I want to see what team Christian County brings to wrestle. There will be a tournament this year and the top two teams will go to the state duals. All of this talk is just idle chatter until then. I think the number one spot is taken, obviously. I see Christian, Henderson, and maybe Fort Campbell vying for the number two spot. Caldwell will be in the running if they can get t afull team.

The main name that comes to mind is Anthony Smith from Christian County. I wrestled for Union County and beside smith at Christian County for one season. I cant believe he lost to Whitfield in the finals in 99, I believe. I wrestled Whitfield in the state tournament my freshman year, and was defeated 5-4. Smith had a mean shot that was just relentless. He shot like 20 times a match. I should know I wrestled against him when I was a freshman and he was a sophomore and it was not that pretty. Other than him I can not think of a real dominating wrestler that failed to win at least one state title.
