With Union County the clear favorites, the region is pretty wide open. Ohio County lost most of their talent. I think 6 or 7 seniors. I would have liked to see Burdin have wrestled his senior state tournament. Christian County is coming up, and Caldwell is always hanging around with at least 4 "good" wrestlers a year. Teams shouldnt over look Henderson County this year. With Bryce Alexander returning (Nearly had a huge upset at state against Woodford's 119 at the state tournament. The boy tapped out at one point) Chris Merrywether back at 103, the possible return of Cody Johnson (sophomore 215 pounder, did not compete last year, undefeated in middle school) Jimmy Jones freshman, middle school state champ, and a few unheard of's that will surprise people this year, alongside 4 or 5 seniors. I think they are a top three team. The light weight classes are going to need some new blood. Ft. Campbell is usually pretty decent. Their 119 pound kid was tough. Who will be the top three. I say Union, and then its going to be a dog fight between Caldwell, Christian, and Henderson)

I know in Region I that Dennis Walls from Union County mentioned something about a regional duals, to find out who should go to State Duals. We know Union County will go, but who will go with them? He was saying that there is no reason another Western Kentucky team could not go and do well. So who is it going to be? Does anyone know when the regional duals in region I has been set?

Rocky music is always great, but I would like to hear some hard music played at state. Patera Walk, Disturbed Down with the Sickness, etc.

Who most influenced me to wrestle.

My dad wrestled on the 1976 Union County State Championship, so I guess it was just fate. We both had a great time. Kids keep me interested in the sport. I coached for two years after college. I still help out, Wrestling will always be a part of my life. -
What will be the most competitive weight class in the state?

seems to be the opinion of most. You still going 130 -
who will go to state from region 1

Jackson, Its Cole, I heard you were cutting down to 171 and Brack to 135, maybe 130. It seems like you two are getting the wrestlers bug. I will make my way down to watch some matches this year. Good luck and bring home some hardware this year. -

Youll have an excellent shot at being in the finals if not being a regional champion at that weight. I believe Union is looking at MATT YOUNg and Christian County has Austin Jones. Both are underclassmen with limited varsity experience. Good luck Brack. Cutting weight was fun. Oh the memories. lol -

What will be the most competitive weight class in the state?

seems to be a safe bet -
The Starks were tough.

Yes experience is a good thing to have at state. Just curious Jermaine Poynter a coach that assisted with me in Henderson went there and Im sure hell be talking about them this year.
-
160 may be an open weight class if Tim Mckenney, a freshman is at the top. Interesting. Caldwell County will have a few decent wrestlers though. They always do. Mickey knows all the rules and makes sure that all the refs know he does.

This team lost Matt Green and are young, maybe oneday they will grow, but probably not this year. It is tough to get a new team going. Believe me.

Danny Lovell versus Brad Hagedorn UC alumni Good match, but Danny grinds him out

who will go to state from region 1
colonelcoach2007 replied to Apollowrestling's topic in 2007 Season
That would be a help for the next season. Dont think you can switch schools out of your home district unless it is a bona fide move. Exp. Your parents divorce, an actual move in residence. I believe that is how it use to be, unless both of your schools will take kids from anywhere in the county. -
I keep reading this PRP in the finals. Are they that tough? Will they still be at the Christian County or Caldwell County tournament. They were at one of those last year I think.
-
Sounds like 215 will be very competitive. Matt Green is pretty tough in that class too.
-
I dont know about that day, but Henderson County is hosting their first dual tournament since the 70
-
Brandon Cole Union County versus JR Bryant Webster County! hahahah just kidding big guy. :-D

who will not return to state from last year
colonelcoach2007 replied to k00kymonster's topic in 2007 Season
I would have to say, barring an injury next to none........ You have to wrestle under pressure in the postseason. Those who deal with it get it done, those who dont, well they wait until next season. -
As much as I dislike Woodford County, I would have to say so.
-
Anthony Smith Christian County 2000
-
I would like to see D.C Evans versus Travis Sullivan again.

Top Freshmen and under, top Sophomores and Top Juniors
colonelcoach2007 replied to enthusiast's topic in 2008 Season
I would definately say Josh Johnson. I have worked with Bryce Alexander from Henderson. He is a tough kid for his age. Johnson is a freak. This kid is as tough as nails. Doesnt seem to let the pressure get to him. More impressive than Tommy Warren at 103, because 103 lbs weight class is prone to having young competitors.
