  1. Scotty Hogan is the wrestler for Henderson at 130 lbs. His only regular season loss comes from a Ravenwood Tenn. wrestler in the finals at the Orange and black. I believe he is 14-1. Bryce Alexander was handed his first loss of the season. After beating Luke Ervin in Union County, he lost by a close decision to Jake Skinner. Brandon Brack is at 140 and convincingly beat Christian County
  2. Brandon Brack is at 140, not 130. Ranger, did you get the memo that Bryce Alexander at 135 beat Luke Ervin from Union County. 9-7 at Union County. Alexander is undefeated and just won the Orange and Black tournament. Finals match was like 11-2 over Eric Martin from Hopkinsville. Just saying that the boy does deserve a quality ranking. He is a three time state qualifier, and nearly defeated Woodford Countys 119 at state last year. The match went into overtime, and Alexander nearly pinned him. Thank you, otherwise, as usual, great job.

    12-08: Hopkinsville Orange/Black (Top 3 by Wt)

Could anyone beleive that Brentwoods heavyweight was only 15? :-o
  4. Henderson County placed above Fort Knox at the Orange and Black tournament. THey actually placed second behing Brentwood Academy in a 13 team tournament. Fort Campbell was there also. 46 may be a little low, but 24 for Fort Knox seems to be a huge mistake unless they are just missing alot of key guys. Their heavyweight wrestled Brentwoods heavy weight in the finals. Thought it would be a better match. Brentwood dominated. That 15 year old 285 pound beast was mean! Lets just see how the year shapes up. Should be interesting.................. :-D
  5. I dont think that Big Daddy is trying to build this kid up to State Contender status. Union County is good. I wrestled for Union County. Ervin

    henderson county duals

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Henderson County Duals has been moved to December 1st. I know Anderson County comitted on the nov 24 day. I want to know if they are okay with the change. Anyone else interested. We have 6 teams committed not including Anderson County. Thanks Brandon COle
  8. I didnt make it to the dual meet, but is it true that Bryce Alexander beat Luke Ervin at 135. Bryce is truely an underrated wrestler as far as rankings go. Rankings though as most true wrestlers know mean nothing. Bryce has made major strides and will most likely shock some people at state this year.

    Warm-up music list

Whatever happened to kids getting fired up to some really hard rock. The Rocky soundtracks are great. But I know when I wrestled it was Pantera, Metallica, etc. that fired people up. I dont think I could get pumped up and in the zone to a rap song.....Not judging, just couldnt do it my self. Bring Rock back, Cole

It is funny you say the Kdsmith guy doesnt talk much but when he does it is really wise. KdSmith (Kevin Smith hence silent bob) That is awesome.

    region 1 rankings 10-26-07

I dont see him beating Burke or Wright. It may be a while before he has a varsity spot, but he is very aggressive. Havent heard if he is wrestling or not......

How much wt. does the average state champion lose?

That isnt even 20 pounds. Thirty would have had him in the single digits. It is not safe to lose it all at once. A routine is nice. Lifting and dieting is great, but the running you do after the practice is over can push that extra mile as far as endurance....

    Mitch or Harrison?

You hit the nail in the coffin...Danger

How much wt. does the average state champion lose?

Alot of weight for a little guy...That is the way it used to be. I was in shape as a sophomore weighing 120 before season and I dropped to 103. Senior year I weighed 147 after a full soccer season and I ended up wrestling 125. Everybody cut weight that wanted to compete at a high level, unless they were just a beast at an upper weight.... :-D

    Dream Match

Vision Quest was awesome..... And prep wrestling parents are meaner than high school parents. I could see the two fathers staring each other down as the match goes into overtime and of course the guy cutting weight

How about them Cats! #14 in AP poll!

I know this is a wrestling site, but the Kentucky Wildcats are ranked nationally. Isnt that awesome. 4-0 with wins over Louisville and Arkansas. How will they end their season? I have to talk about my college team. I have stuck with them through many bad seasons, and my pro team the Miami Dolphins are 0-3 :|

    Who will be at 145

145 was probably the weakest weight class in region I. Union County had a first year wrestler. I dont know about this year. Kids weight fluctuates so much from season to season. Who is at 145 in the beginning of the season across the state will change by the end of the season due to body fat and hydration tests.
  22. Last year 119 was a monster of a weight class. What weight will be the toughest this year? What weight was the toughest last year?

Is Frankfort the best spot for the state championship?

Did you read my last post? You should have added to that thread. This is basically the same conversation, but it seems other people have the same idea. I would love to see a 2-day state tournament with 32 participants in each weight class at a bigger venue. Of course people had problems with refs. Every ref makes mistakes, but the wrestler should not put himself in the position to allow one bad call to cost him a big match. NO EXCUSES, 2 day 32 man state tournament, much more exciting and affordable for all schools.

Why have state in Eastern Ky every year?

Funny you say that about the high school. Danny Lovell who wrestled for Union County in the early 80
