The tournament is now full!! We have 16 teams: Fern Creek Central Male North Hardin J-Town PRP Moore Nelson County North Bullitt Bullitt Central DeSales Fairdale Scott Spencer County Tecumseh, IN Atherton Contracts and more info should be coming shortly.

Fern Creek will host a 2 day tournament December 28th and 29th. Day 1 will be a dual tournament. Day 2 will be an invitational tournament. The top 3 teams each day will get trophies and the top 3 individuals on day 2 will get medals. Entry fee is $200. We are limiting the number of teams to 16. So far Fern Creek, Central, Male and North Hardin are confirmed. Call me or email me to reserve a spot. This is the perfect opportunity to meet solid competition in 2 different formats. Cole Procter (SO) beat Deshawn Barrow (FC) in the 145 final. Looks like they will meet up for the tie breaker this weekend.

The most interesting story of the tournament, in my opinion (I'm a little bias), was Deshawn Barrow from Fern Creek weighing in at 147 but bumping up to 152 for "better competition" and winning the whole thing. He knocked off Grubbs and Hinkle which is no easy task.

Just to throw this out there...What would the interest level be of putting together a Regional All-Star Team and having a dual tournament this off season? Probably early March because of weight issues. I would guess region champ gets dibs on the first spot and it would roll up from there. Each school within the region could host practices (as long as they are a USAW club team). I'm not sure who would coach or if we could just get volunteers from each region? Any ideas?

From PackAttack: What was 145 like. I saw the Whalen won, was it an easy path for him. What about Barrow from FC and Proctor from SO, thought one of them would be in the finals. Barrow and Proctor wrestled for 3rd. Barrow won 3-2. Whalen was really strong @ 45. He pinned in the 1st period in the finals and he beat Barrow in the semi's 11-3, I think.

Fern Creek is going to bring 3: 130- B. Cleveland, 135- J. Scheler and 145- D. Barrow.

I think you have to know who "stand-up" is to truly appreciate those posts. He might be a "stand-up" comedian. lol

Got sad news this morning that Rashaun Graham, former 135 at Iroquois High School, passed away this morning at his mother's house. He was one of the first state placers for Iroquois and he will always be remembered as a kid who loved life and hated to lose. He was attending Lindsey Wilson and was part of the wrestling team there. I will keep everyone posted when I get more details. Keep his family in your prayers.

X beat us badly but it was not a shut out. Thank you Deshawn Barrow. You should say, my how X has changed. They are looking tough. Maybe we can get Weixler, Branch, Mann, Waller, or Hardin another year of eligibility. They were all in that class and finished that season.

Thanks to everyone for their support. We are still looking. We have had 3 candidates that have not worked out for one reason or another. I am hoping one of our alumni will step up, but we shall see. If you are interested please call the school or PM me. This team has some great kids coming in over the next 3-4 years.

I am stepping down as head coach at Fern Creek High School. With two little ones at home, I do not have the time it takes to run a successful program. We will be looking for someone to replace me as soon as possible so that we can keep the guys going this off season. Message me if you are interested or know someone that would be a good fit. I will still be teaching in the building and will help out as much as possible.

What happened to Huffine from Southern? He suffered an injury against us...hope that's not the reason.

The Fern Creek Tournament is always the Saturday before Derby. This year it's April 24th. We will do Folk and Freestyle with staggered start times. We are also working on a Triple Crown with Moore, us and then finishing with state at Central. I let you know more about that when we work out the details.
