    DERRICK LAWSON

Good Luck kid, you were always one of my favorites. I just knew from what I had heard about you this summer with your size and strength you were going to shake up the heavyweight class this year.

How Many Wrestlers Are Squating Over 450LBS

Standup, I guess I know how you got your name. You sound like a stand up type of guy. The kid I referred to in another thread was the Lawson kid from Doss. I had heard he lifted with the CHRISTIAN POWERLIFTERS OF AMERICA and was very strong. I am sure from what I heard about him he would come and lift. But as I stated (no excuse) he is out hurt and not even wrestling this year except, I had heard he wrestled one match so far trying to come back for regions. That he hurt his back multiple buldging disc and a pinch nerve. I had one coach email me and told me he was one of the strongest kids he had seen. I don't know for sure as I have not seen him in for a while. As I nowlive out of state. I hope to come back soon would like to watch state finals always enjoyed Kentucky Wrestling.

You are correct if you powerlifted in your high school. But there are many organizations that are available besides your school. There are a lot of kids that powerlifted so their competion does not see how strong they are. There are Christian powerlifting teams that only lift for god. They have competions and strength demonstrations in Church's throughout the US. These kids do it right no drugs, tobacco, or alcohol. Tested once every two weeks. There are many kids that are very strong that you will never hear of because they do not choose to compete in their high school areas. To some of them records and bragging is not what it is all about. CHRISTIAN POWERLIFTERS OF AMERICA ttp://www.criticalbench.com/powerlifting-federations.htm

who do you think is the strongest in you weight class

the strongest kid I've seen, is the Lawson kid 285 from Doss. I heard he is out hurt. But I have been told from other powerlifters NO BODY is benching, squatting, or dead lifting more than this kid did during the summer. But I heard the lifting took a toll on his back and can't lift any more Doctors orders. But this is what I was told. I now live out of state but I miss watching the wrestling in Ky. But I still have a few connections that tell me evrything going on.

Doss High NEEDS A HEAD COACH?

Well I am a teacher, and it is very hard to transfer from my county to Jefferson. It takes forever. I am not trying to blow smoke here, but my friend said you did a great job there. And after you pm'd me I tried, but I had a dead line and it was running out. No answers from the AD so I gave up and just assumed you were going to go ahead and take it. I have met several of the fathers on the team and they seem to be really nice. I believe 3 of the fathers I have seen at several of the tournaments. One I know was the 215's father and one was the 285 and the other was a smaller kid. They all seem very nice and spoke highly of you and they just knew you were going to be the coach next year. Gee I hope your wrong about them waiting so long again. You should knock down the door and tell them to give it to you. Or better yet, get the three fathers I met and have them go to the ad and tell him they want you. They all seem to like you enough. Well nice talking to you good luck. I will see you later this year. Bed time some of us have to teach summer school!!!!!!!!!

Doss High NEEDS A HEAD COACH?

Like I said I have a coach friend of mine I went to school with that lives in Jefferson County. He has been trying to talk me into moving down there. I saw you and the other coach last year and I loved the way the team tried hard and the way your state champ wrestled. Like I said I tried to reach the AD and after 6 phone calls and no returns and a few emails no replies. I gave up. The school I was at had to know now if I was leaving or not. They offered a few things so now I am staying. I just heard they did not have a coach yet and it seemed that the way this team did someone would like to coach them. I am all for the kids. And my friend told me last year they had to hurry and find you guys and you did a great job. Anyway enough said about that. I already have a job and I hope Doss will hire you. At least you know the kids.

Doss High NEEDS A HEAD COACH?

I don't know who you think I am, but if you want to coach my son you may have to wait. he is 8 months old. My name is Ed Peterson they call me Tyler and I don't live in Jefferson County. But I have a coach friend of mine that contacts me with info. I tried to contact Doss ad he is on vacation and I couldn't reach him. I have already taken a job. So when the season starts and you are coaching Doss I will come over and introduce myself to you. Thanks and Good luck

Doss High NEEDS A HEAD COACH?

I just got a private message that said Doss needed a head coach. Why isn't everyone jumping all over this. I was told they have a returning state champ and all their team has been practicing all summer and going to tournaments and camps. Sounds like a GREAT place to be. Also was told they have new equipment and they have great parent support. I think some of us better look in to this. I had asked sometime ago and thought they had filled it but they have not. Whay coach in his right mind would not want this.

    Next years Top Five wrestlers.

Bailey you come on here and say it's always about you. YOU are the one that comes on here telling everyone what you are going to do. You open the can and we all jump in. Next, no one ever said you weren't good. What I said was why are all the heavyweights ready to hand you the title when all it takes is a mistake. I believe you when you say you are working hard and you want it. But the only other heavyweight that has not just handed you the title is Fuller. I am tired of everyone acting like its a done deal in the heavyweight class, when you don't hear this in the other classes. I hope you do well, but I would just like for someone else to say they are ready for you. Then lets all settle it on the mat.

    Next years Top Five wrestlers.

I don't understand something. Someone please help me. Has all the heavyweights in KY (except fuller) all rolled up and quite. It sounds like Bebop is in love with Bailey and already has resigned to the fact that he will lose. Come on guys you don't hear this in any other weight class and Bailey is not that great. Good yes but not great. All it takes is a good wrestler to make a mistake and he's beat. Bebop you sound like your great and I believe you must be a good kid, but I don't think you ever won your region yet and never placed in state. Yet you act like you are the one to beat. I think all of you might be in for a surprise. Maybe someplace in this state is a heavyweight that will step forward ( not that I have seen him yet) but there could be. Guys like Fuller,Turner,Lawson, Bell, Rinestine, Bullock, and Whiting need to step up. They all have size and skill and yet they are not on here giving up. Fuller seems as the only one to step forward and say I AM HERE YOU HAVE TO GO THRU ME. Good for you Fuller. This is only June and from the way I hear on this board, we should cancel the heavyweight class and just give it to Bailey.

    Re-alignment???

I really think all these ideas are great. But I believe nothing will change this year. I think maybe next year you may see some realignments and maybe weight change. I think for the up coming year everything will be as it has been
  12. down and dirty

Add a weight class between 215 and 285?

YES we should but I don't think it will happen for the up coming year. Which is a shame because we could have a lot more kids out that won't wrestle the heavier kids.

    Re-alignment???

Well guys I got my answer back today from the man himself Quote:You have been given some terribly incorrect information. The National Federation held their rules meeting in March to detemine next year's rules, and there will be no changes in the weight classes for our state or any other for the coming year. So that's it for this coming year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    CINCINNATI THREEWAYS

I have talked to a lot of people today and they all have said what a great job our Kentucky kids did. This is one tuff tournament and we all should be proud of our kids from the school boy all the way up to our heavyweight, they did a great job. A special thanks goes to Mr. Frank Gercak and all his coaches for the job they did.

    Re-alignment???

I have sent several emails to Jullian on the weight change. I think if we did a poll it would show the majority of the coaches would want a 245lb. class. I can see working on realignment and taking time to do so. You could have some that would feel they didn't get the right region and think it was unfair to be in this region and etc. So take your time on this, weight change in the heavyweight class is a no brainier. Make up your mind and do it. Not a lot of discussion needed on this one.
