Reitz Hill Classic Evansville, Indiana results

ptwrestling1, I apologize for the mistake. I was not aware of who Pitman was. I only knew that Connor Houchins had not be beaten all weekend. Even so, Pitman was not awarded outstanding wrestler.

ptwrestling1, I think you have your information incorrect. At the 145 weight class, Reitz's Connor Houchins went 6-0 and the Outstanding Wrestler was awarded to Tanner Babb from Reitz at 140. Judson Pitman was defeated by Connor Houchins. Bernard Franklin also finished the tournament 5 and 1. You can visit the Reitz Wrestling website for team scores and undefeated wrestlers. You are correct in that Hopkinsville did not show up.

In respose to the Indiana State Tournament. One weekend was for divisions Pee-Wee through Novice and 790 kids wrestled. This past weekend they had a tournament for divisions Schoolboy/girl through Juniors and 1200 kids wrestled. The first weekend it was held in a huge sports complex with 14 full size mats in Indianapolis. The tournament started at approximately 8:30 am and finished around 8:00 pm. It was a long day and that is why we would like to see it back to two days. The tournament this past weekend was held at Huntington High School in Huntington, In. They had 6 full size mats in one gym and 12 full size mats in a indoor football practice complex. This tournament ran 2 days and finished fairly early on Sunday. In Indiana, you do not have to qualify for the Folkstyle State Tournaments. However, for freestyle you must qualify by placing in the top 4 at any freestyle meet held in the state. Our tournaments are ran through the Indiana State Wrestling Association and they do a good job. They did have one set of bout numbers for the entire tournament and all weigh-ins were completed Friday evening. This past year, they utilized trackwrestling and that worked out fine.

Indiana just had their Folkstyle State Tournament two weeks ago. They had a total of 790 wrestlers and finished in one day. Their system seems to run well. They go by the USA wrestling guidelines of Pee-Wee, Bantam, Midget, Novice, etc. They give each match a bout number and call you by division, weight and bout number and tell you what mat to go to. They also will announce the wrestlers names. The wrestler listed at the top of the bracket is to report to the head table to pick up the bout card and take it to the assigned mat. At no time did we have to wait for a long period of time once at the mat. There was not a ton of people standing around a mat. Our only complaint was that they completed this tournament in 1 day and our son had wrestled 8 matches in one day. In the past, this has been a two day tournament and we would like to see it go back to that.

    Gable Tournament at Union County

Indiana is holding it's state tournament for wrestlers schoolboy through junior. I wouldn't expect as many as you think from the Evansville area. There will be a few at Pee-Wee through Novice.
