I think this is a great thread and the link sums it up perfectly, but Packattack I need to point out a slight mistake. if you stop lifting your muscle starts being converted to fat or just simply breaking down If you stop lifting you lose muscle tone, which in reality means that you are not using as many of your muscle fibers. Muscle is never converted to fat. You are born with all the fat cells and muscle fibers that you will ever have. Fat cells expand as sugars and carbs are stored. Muscle fibers lay dormant until needed for use. When you lift weights your body will need more fibers to lift more weight, that is how your muscles "grow". If you lift for endurance then you may not need to use more muscle fibers, but your body will learn the use the same ones more efficiently. The result is muscle tone. If you lift for bulk then your body will have to use more fibers and you will see more size gains such as larger biceps, triceps or quads. I hope everyone has a great summer and comes into practice in great shape!

I think this is a great opportunity, but I don't think you will see anything happen at Georgetown. The leadership there is, to put it lightly, not very good. I don't think they will take the opportunity to expand their athletics department.

What JV wrestlers to watch out for next year. (That will be VARSITY!)

you get an applaud just for your username, nice work. -
I think some people are confusing the off season, which begins immediately after the season ends and continues until June 1st. During this time a coach cannot directly give instruction but they can have team workouts or conditioning. The dead period is a 2 week window that occurs before the start of practice for fall sports. During this time all coaches are required to have no contact with players. If we did not have a dead period there are large amount of kids that would never have a summer break of any sort because they would be practicing.

From what I have heard you will most likely not see Scott co. start a wrestling team as long as the football coach is the athletic director. Apparently he's anti-wrestling.

Bill Semones signed with Lindsey Wilson

Congrats to Harrison, a class act.

Bill Semones may be headed to Lindsey Wilson. -
While I have read some good information on this page I am wondering about the level if education by those posting. I'm not saying that those posting are not smart, but how much nutritional, medical, biological education do these posters have? I've stated before that I am a certified athletic trainer so my profession is in orthopedic evaluation and rehab. I have a base of information on the subject of supplements but I resist posting on the subject because I don't want to put forth incorrect info. I have seen more damage done by good intentioned and well meaning individuals giving anecdotal evidence. What I am trying to say is that if we are going to discuss things like this, lets find someone that is qualified to educate us on the question. Grapplehead did a great job of explaining how creatine works. Grapplehead where did you get your info? Just wondering, and thanks for the good info for everyone.

More importantly, did you watch any part of the webinar? I don't care if you can spell, but rather if you learned how to prevent MRSA and Staph. You and your teammates will be safer for it.

http://www.nwcaskinprevention.com/prevention.htm Check out the webinar. It has some great info. and it's MRSA, not mersa, Staph, not staff

Congrats and good luck!

From what I have been told, the ref admitted later that he missed some calls during that match.

It's called criminal negligence. Coach Stinson was not trying to harm a player. He was trying to motivate but unfortunately the athlete's body could not deal with the workout, for whatever reason(that we don't know). I feel for the parents, players and coaches for losing a son/friend/student/athlete, but I wonder why the parents did not get an autopsy. It would seem that an autopsy could have answered a lot of questions, but then again, I'm not a parent that just lost a son so I don't know what was going through their head.

Actually the coach doesn't have to give money to everyone. The coach as a scholaship budget and can give money as he sees fit. The lack of money is usually made up in acedemic scholarship money and if they can't qualify for that then you shift to any sort of grant-in-aid that can be found. Unfortunately we are stuck with private schools offering wrestling here in KY. So you have to find more money to make up the difference if you don't get a full athletic scholarship. To be perfectly honest most people could find acedemic scholarships and go to a public university a lot easier then they could get a collegeiate scholarship that may not pay for everythig.

He has signed/committed to Campbellsville

I know that all three of them did not start until their fresman year and Gentry didn't start until his sophmore year. Hid dad wanted him to put on weight for football so he worked on that his freshman year.

Have you guys noticed that you're doing the exact same thing with this thread? The moderators need to start enforcing the rules and ban people if need be.

White singlets are just plain wrong. Seeing someone in a white singlet is like seeing a girl in a wet t-shirt contest, expect for the fact that it's a big dude in a singlet. Who in the world wants to see that? I think I just threw up in my mouth a little just describing it.

I couldn't agree more. I'm sure it's been talked about over and over again, but I think its a shame that the KHSAA/coaches won't get together and figure it out. The tournament would be even better than it is.

Watch out for the droogies...

Don't expect to see Harrison much. Collegiate sports are a job. Harrison will be there once in a while, but not as much as you think. I hope Ethan will help at the middle school, but you need someone at the middle school level to get guys to come out like coach Carr and Parks used to.

It was a high percentage for Coty Lewis and his super duck, but I only saw a few use it this year at state. :-D

Travis, I smite you just because I can...
