Good point, and it's good to know that some people can maintain their composure in defeat.

We have 120 counties with many counties having multiple schools, but only 79(as of this year) have wrestling

Introducing the Approved Kentucky State Singlet
Dutch1873 replied to kdsmith27's topic in 2007 Season
This singlet is great. Congratulations to Coach Q for taking the bull by the horns and getting this design. I really think it gives one a mental edge when you walk into competition and know that you belong to a top notch team/organization/state. I would love to see all the kids wearing this singlet. -
I would take Richard Starks over everyone, just for his sheer determination to win. He really was an animal.

favorite wrestler to watch from a different team at state

While I think Courtney is a great wrestler, let's not get ahead of ourselves. He still has to actually wrestle and win the next two years before he becomes the next 4x state champ. Which I hope he is able to do. -

I have to say that watching Byrd's throws is probably the most entertaining thing to see. You don't often see big men fly through the air like that. As far as the Courtney-Thueneman debate you can say that the best team does not always win and I agree with that, but that can only be said when you've only lost once in a blue moon. Not when you've gone 0-3 and the other guy has two state championships. Let's just put it this way, they are both excellent wrestlers and when they get together everyone wants to stop and watch to see who will come out on top. -
Grapplehed, you hit the nail on the head with that advice. I would add plyometric (explosive) workouts as well. Do your research and get the technique correct first. How you train and practice is how you will proform when the time comes.

I'm sure you are. Someone's daughter may be in this tournament a few years down the road. But I'm sure you've already planned that out. -
Wrestlingforyears, what have you seen to make you say that Miller does not have sportsmanship? I'll agree that he may not have the technique but I've seen him wrestle quite a bit and while he does get upset at himself for losing I don't remember an instance where he was a bad sport.

Don't forget about Steven Butler of Woodford Co. He was a senior and looking to make a run at the finals before he was injured during the regional tourny.

Check the listings on ESPNU as well. I've watched Army wrestle live twice on sunday nights. I don't know specifics but keep an eye out for it.

Yes, they are brothers. Richard is the older of the two and now wrestles for the US Military Academy.

112 lbs. (the real state champion given the chance)

AllAmricn you are correct. There is no reason speculating on how someone could have done. If you want to start that then let's talk about what woodford would have done with a healthy Steven Butler and Coty Lewis. We can't though because they weren't healthy. So we deal with reality and not speculation. If someone wasn't able to qualify to wrestle (for whatever reason) at state then don't say they would have won. -
As a Certified Athletic Trainer I can tell you that this is being seen in other sports as well. It can spread like wildfire if not treated ASAP. If you suspect you may have it (it will look like a spider bite or ingrown hair) you need to get to a doctor.
