  1. wow that is alot. but are these strictly varsity wins? i jus dont remember josh having 31 wins his freshman year cuz i do remember WCI he went 0-2 and i know this because i was wrestling him in middle school the same time he was wrestling varsity, and i watched like all his matches i could. its completly believable and if josh himself told me, i would believe him instantly. this jus sounds...crazy cuz i dont remember him being that dominant of a wrestler in 7th grade.

  2. I dont think this has been mentioned due to Josh not wanting to make a big deal about it leading up to state, but he hit the 300 career win mark with the finals match. That puts him 2nd all time in the history of wrestling in the US. Outstanding career. Congrats Josh.

Could you post his record year by year? Because this means he won  60 matches a year or atleast averaged it. Is this like highschool carrer or summer, middle school records included?  what resource is this from?

  4. No, Abney was wrestling 125 before the 2 pound allowance when we wrestled Woodford and pinned logsdon. Zac Brown wrestled Bracco at 119

even though he is seeded higher, if they meet bracco will handle abney. the kid isn't on braccos level i mean i wrestled abney and the score was 15-4 when he caught me in a chancery< i say this because when me and bracco wrestle everyday its usually with in 2- 3 takedowns either way depending who is feeling the best. im confident in bracco hope not too confident

  5. While I won't suggest any kid get booed, you probably have to be a little more selective about your choices.  I've never heard a Union kid get booed.  I think those kids always conduct themselves in a way that reflect well on themselves, the team, and their school (should be the goal of every kid).  But guys like Coty Lewis have taken a differrent path and earned the dislike of opposing fans.  Regarding Mark Hall, I think most of the discussion has been more about the situation rather than the team or the kid.  I haven't heard a single bad thing about the kid and he has represented Ryle well every time I've seen him.  Yes, you are correct, everyone tends to have a different view of these things when their team benefits from the move in and scream and cry when it is another team.  Competition often brings out the worst in us.

What do u mean earned the dislike of opposing fans? was it not coty lewis after loosing to Kyle R. in the finals that held his head high and walked off the matt with a succesful year? was it not coty lewis that after being robbed in the finals against caleb wood still showed respect to the reffs, shook there hands and got off the mat, was it not coty lewis after sticking josh johnson in the finals, helped the kid up then started his celebration? so u judge a kid on how well he performed his last two years in high school and that completly masks the previous three years? so he pump-faked the crowd after a call he saw unfair, big whoop. and i hate these kids that say they heard lewis say so many things, not like coty lewis at all.

  7. Four Time State Champions

This is a list of Kentucky's four time state champions. If we are missing anyone or if you notice any errors, please post a reply so that we may correct them.

    In order from most recent:

Isaac Knable, St. Xavier, Coach: Jim Kraeszig, State Champion in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. Was awarded the MOW wrestler award in 2001 and 2002.

Joe Carr, Jr., Woodford County, Coach: Joe Carr, State Champion in: 1993, 1995, 1996, and 1997. Joe won state as an 8th grader. He also continued to wrestle in college where he was a national qualifier for the University of West Virginia. Joe Carr was a senior national runner up and a participant for the national dream team.

Robbie Clarkston, Conner High School, Coach: Wayne Badida, State Champion in: 1978, 1979, 1980, and 1981. Robbie was also a Runner-Up as an 8th grader in 1977.

James Earl Hardin KSB won state in 64,65,66,67

Issac Knable went on to wrestle for Indiana alos. i dont think he wrestled there very long, dont know details if it was burn out or not, idk. i just know he went there and like a few years later he wasnt there.  last i saw of him i thought he was helping coach St. X

  8. All of the above, plus putting in the time on the mat during the off season to get better and be the best they can be.

IDK bout the off season mat time. i mean there are kids that do other things beside wrestle in the off season and still are dominate wrestlers. Dont get me wrong, the off season is 9.999999 times out of 10 the most important/probable time to improve. im just saying that our opinion shouldn't differ about the best pound for pound wrestler in Kentucky, for what he did in some freestyle tourny in Indiana over the summer, it should differ depending on how he wrestles in our state, in our tournys, in our season. Although everybody on this poll wrestles in national summer/ off season tournys, haha.

  9. This tournament has been around for 39 years.  Is there an older one in the state?

WCI was started in the 70's. not sure of exact year. im thinking when Coach Parks came to the program in either 76, 77 something like that. so saying it was started in 77 would give us 32 years of WCI. not quite as long but close to it.
