Depending on the region, they may have different criteria in different order. Sometimes they only use records from current weight class, sometimes they use season record regardless of weight. In region 8 which I believe you are part of, as you said, if A beat B, A will get the better seed. After that they use common opponents. Next would be who they have wrestled who is good and how they did. If there is no discernable criteria they fall back on % wins.

Correction: Perry Central was first round with JC--Cory and Deaton both won. score 6-72. 2nd Round Perry Central over Pike Central 51-24. and JC vs McCreary. 3rd round Perry Central vs McCreary 36-48 and JC vs Pike.

McCreary Central is hosting Region 8 duals.

The Saturday of week 30 is Jan 29 to make weight. You must have four weigh ins or four matches to qualify for region. I don't believe a combination will work since one weigh in and three matches are double counting the same event. Is that correct?

i had heard that Sheldon Clark was on the schedule in place of Madison Central.

Good match with Perry County at 130--tied to the last second when a roll through was called a reversal for Moore with Cory ending on top. Like to see that one again at 125.

I am glad that Bert Brown has finally seen the light. We worked on him a long time to change his attitude towards wrestling.

Johnson Central is sending the whole team at 14.

East Region will be in Perry County on Feb 7 at the Sherman Neace Athletic Center.

I mean no disrespect to anyone who is working with the elementary program. I know the committment that is involved working as a volunteer. I have volunteered with my children's programs for over twenty-five years and appreciate the time and effort involved by the organizers. Hats off to you all. That said, I have tried to make it to the spring meetings since becoming a wrestling coach, but I have had prior committments on those days and could not be there. I am from Eastern Ky and winter practices are not consistant in our area. Snow days interfere with practice--parents are not going to risk their kids on bad mountain roads. Our school system currently has not been in school since Dec 18. The county was hit hard with extreme cold and snow and a broken water main shut down water to the whole county (parts of the county still are without water). School resumes tomorrow with water tanked in. That means that we have not practiced with the elementary for over a month and only have three weeks to get them ready for region now. I am the assistant high school coach and though we have tried, we have not been able to recruit anyone to work with the kids in our area. No one is willing to give the time or learn the sport. So if we want a program, I have to run it or wait until they are in high school. Those extra weeks were vital to us and we will miss them.

I don't mind the USA card for the wrestlers--we need the insurance anyway for the club. My concern is the early date for region and state this year. Why are we in such a rush to hold it this year? We don't have many knowledgeable people in our area to coach the kids so it falls to the high school coaches to work with the young ones as well. This is just too much at the same time and will destroy our youth effort.

At 215, Cody Hollon is now attending Pike Central instead of Perry Central.

That is not whining. We appreciate Central hosting the event and getting some wrestling in. However, we drove closer to four hours one way to wrestle and yes we were also a little upset about having to wait until 5 for a couple of our boys to wrestle. Several times we had to go ask why one of the boys hadn't had a match yet...The head table skipped over matches and let mats go empty for long stretches. They had five mats but only ran three or sometimes four at a time. They tried to go sequentially by weight class, but had some weights with 7 or 8 wrestlers which should have gone first to get through them quicker. By later afternoon many people had left which gave our kids only one or two matches. We appreciated the opportunity to get to wrestle but it could have run smoother. We were expecting a clinic on how to do freestyle and only got rules. Sambo was explained and demonstrated pretty well, but we were wanting to see freestyle to get another dimension in wrestling. You can only get so much from DVDs.

Hardy was inconsistent when it came to calling against popular wrestlers. He also awarded points to the wrong wrestler several times and had to be corrected.
