There are 12 teams in region 8. You left out Pike Central. You make that 3 and 1/2 hour bus trip one way that are kids made last week-end and see if you are still in favor of region 8 as it is now.

Why are we not looking for another host for the state duals tournament? Most of the top teams in the state would have made plans for the weather and would have been there before the bad weather. See which of the top teams are not wrestling tomorrow. My guess - NONE

I disagree. Some regions are a lot tougher than others. I know of a former wrestler of mine who never made it to the state tournament even though his senior year he beat 6 of the 16 kids that made it to state. I know that year 3 of the 4 wrestlers in our region were state placers. The 4th place kid in our region (HC) got beat by 1 of our own region kids to keep him from placing.(They only placed 6 then) I'm not too sure if my memory is correct but I believe the 3 wrestlers who placed from our region were: Chris Dunn of Woodford(2X state champion) William Farrington of Wayne( at least 2 time state placer), and Derrick Mollette of Sheldon Clark(state champion). Oh, by the way, I know of another kid who finished 5th in our region during this time span, and finished 4th in the state. The state tournament may be all about money for the KHSAA but it is not for the wrestlers who make it there. I know this kid deserved better. He had plenty of heart and drive..

The Fern Creek wrestling Club won the middle school state 2/3 years in row with these same wrestlers. They chose Trinity. Is someone in Louisville stepping up and saying, Why not us!

I saw the match and with any of the other officials at the state tournament IMO Brown would have been hit with stalling more than once. 1 hell of a match in the semifinals.

How many years have the teams you mentioned sent guys to nationals?......

Great Job by Coach Lange and Oldham County. Can't ever remember anyone selling state dual t-shirts for the price of $5.00. They ran out early and Coach Lange told all the coaches if anyof your wrestlers didn't get one that wanted one he would order more and bring them to the state tournament. This is just one of many great things you could say about the state duals tournament hosted by Oldham County. Thanks to all that helped to make this a great tournament.

"I'm sure the Ryle coaches thought there was a chance they would not qualify for the state duals when they chose to go to swoca, and they're probably fine with the consequences. I gotta admire the coaches at Ryle and how they put their kids success above team accolades. Like grapplehed said, there were college scouts there and if their kids knocked off a highly ranked kid that would really open doors." I think I stated that in less words.. I also think they made the right decision to make their team better.

I don't voice my opinion very much on this forum. If Ryle chose to go to a tournament in Ohio and bypass the qualifier for state duals in their region, They should not be in state duals. Maybe they thought they would still qualify. If it was for making their program better, we as a state are heading in the right direction.

Bruce Stepp in my opinion was 1 of the best wrestlers to ever come from the state of Kentucky....Period..
