  1. I think all of the winners are correct but some of the scores posted by wrestlingforyears are wrong.  I know, Davis beat Allman by a score of either 18-14 or 18-15.  He did what he does best.  He took Allman down and let him back up.  Allman didn't wrestle a bad match though.  Wolseifer beat Vaugh 21-7.  Houchens pinned Lewis.  Chaney beat Green 6-2.  Bodenbender beat Mastrovich 3-2.  That one was a real stall fest.  Bodenbender was awarded a penalty point late b/c Mastrovich was called for stalling.  Mastrovich kept trying to get the head lock / hip toss and couldn't get it.  I don't know about the rest of the scores listed.  By the way, does anyone know how Cody Mann from FC is doing?

  3. Region 3 does have some decent 135's but they're pretty inconsistent.  Therefore, I agree with Ranger.  Allman could beat either of the top 2 from Region 3.  I also know that if the top 2 135 wrestlers in Region 3 actually wrestle like they can, they can beat Allman.  Case in point, Cosgrove from Doss pinned Allman at the Moore Mustang Classic this year.

  4. pridewrestler,

I can somewhat see your point.  However, if Nickel beat Baker and Baker beat Griggs and Griggs and Nickel had never met before Saturday, I would still think that through process of elimination and a little logic, Nickel gets the 1 seed.  Maybe I'm wrong.  If you were presented with that information and also knew that Nickel was ranked higher in both Ranger's Rankings and the KWCA rankings (done by Eastern's coach), than either Griggs or Baker, how would you have seeded them?  Like I said, I'm not complaining, just wondering.

  5. Mrs. Baker,

The Doss coaches were not at the seeding meeting b/c they were not invited.  Not all coaches were invited, only a select few.  This is a topic that we had previously discussed last week.  The same thing happened at the JCTC.  Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, the criteria they use, as previously stated by thegreatgatsby is 1) winning record, 2) head to head meetings & 3) common opponents.  They usually do not have to go much beyond that.  Well Derek had a winning record & did beat Matt earlier this year.  Regardless of by how much, he did beat him.  He never faced Griggs before Saturday.  He is ranked higher than both Baker and Griggs in the Ranger Rankings  on this site and the KWCA rankings, which are done by Eastern's coach.  As for him losing to Travis, yes you are correct but he also beat Travis this year, so that is a push.  When the Doss coaches inquired as to why Derek was seeded lower than both Griggs and Baker, the answer they recieved and I quote "we didn't have enough time to look at everything".  That also must be why Dakoda Choate was seeded lower than Ty Wolfe.  Dakoda had two losses this year and they were both to Wolseifer.  In addition, he beat Wolfe on the Wednesday before the Eastern tournament.  I'm not complaining about any of this, I'm just stating facts.  Regardless, it was all put to rest Saturday when Nickel won.  I wish Dakoda would have had the opportunity to face Wolfe.  I also wish Dakoda a safe and speedy recovery and hope your son is recovering from his illness.  I wish him the best.

  6. Gatsby, once again, thank you for posting the region 3 rankings.  First of all, to Hacker, Cahill is a decent wrestler, but you can't say he's better than Graham.  He did lose to him Saturday.  He did lose by injury default, but at the time of the default, Graham was leading 6-4, so until Billy beats him, or should I say if he does, then Rayshawn is in the correct spot in the Rankings.  I appreciate your enthusiasm Hacker.  As for a post on last week's rankings about Marksbury.  I'm assuming he is the one who talked about his coach not knowing anything and the other coach just laying on the mat.  First of all, you were having a decent year.  I think at the time you were 26 or 27 - 6 when you had your incident at Moore.  Yes, Coach Pry does not know much about wrestling.  He's the CC coach at Doss and only took the job b/c the school was going to cancel wrestling on account of not having a coach.  So, as for Coach Pry, don't bash him.  He's never attempted to instruct you or even act like he knows wrestling.  All he did for you was give his time, and when you have two infants at home that is a lot, so you could wrestle.  I know at the time you were probably upset when you did it, I have been in that situation myself, but bashing him is classless.  I've made that mistake in an earlier post about Coach Coomes and regret doing it.  As for your other former coach, Coach Hare, you are positively wrong about what you said.  I'm friends with him and know for a fact, he does not do that.  Your six losses were as follows.  You had two at KOB, two at the JCTC and two Wednesday night at Moore (Fuller-Sen & McCain-Moore).  The two practices before the KOB, you showed up but did not work.  You sat on the side and did nothing but ice you shoulder, no wrestling.  The Friday before JCTC, you missed practice b/c you said you were sick and the following Monday, you missed practice for a reason that was less than acceptable.  Mind you, that was the same week you were to face two of the top ten 125's in the state.  When you returned to practice on Tuesday, Coach Hare, worked specifically with you, and the other kids on the Doss team will agree with me, on defeating leg rides b/c he knew that's what both Fuller and McCain would do to you, which I might add, both defeated you with.  You half-heartedly worked during that practice and did even attempt anything he showed the following night.  He didn't lay on the mat, he was giving you undivided attention.  As for the weight lifting issue, why would he want to take you to the weight room, when you are so close to moving one weight class up.  Trying to add muscle mass to your body during the season, when you're trying to maintain weight, would not be smart.  Also, he is coaching a wrestling team (technique), not coaching a weight lifting club.  Also, your earlier promise of being back with the Doss team, you may want to check again.  Coach Hare will be the head coach next year and unless you apologize to your teammates, you will not be back with the team!  He doesn't care if you apologize to him or not, but letting your teammates down and distracting from them, he does care about.  One final thing to add, Marksbury, how many off season camps or USA wrestling tournaments did you attend?  Like RaiderCoach said, even kids who have wrestled all their life need more than just the 4 months during the wrestling season to get better.  Best of luck to you Alan.  I hope the best for you.  Now to everyone else, I apologize for this long post.  I just felt like those were some things that needed to be said on behalf of the Doss coaches.  Thanks

  8. Hacker is talking about your varsity 160, Nathan Kelch.  He beat Mark Monroe, from Doss, 4-2.  It would be a different story now.  I'm pretty sure it was Meade's first meet of the year.  It was a tri-meet b/w Doss, Iroquois, and Meade on 12/6.  Anyway, Meade has the making of a good program.  You just have to work hard in the off-season, and most of all, try attend as many camps and USA wrestling tournaments as possible.  There is no substitute for mat time.  You're coaches are class acts and that shows in your team's attitude.  I don't think you will decide the outcome of Region 3 this year but with one more year, you guys will definitely be a major player in the Region.  Best of luck to you guys.

  9. For the most part, I like the predictions.  Kraft beating Eck and Ervin may be a little bit of a stretch, but not impossible.  I think Choate beats Wolfe at 160 but we'll see if that happens or not.  I would like to see another match between Nickel and Baker at 215.  The last time they met, Nickel won 5-3 on a takedown in literally the last second.  It should be the same this time if they were to meet again.  I would also like to see another re-match between Rupp and Florence.  That was a great finals match at Jefferson County.

  10. Ballard4Life,

What really gets me are people like you who put other Regions down and talk about how good your Region is.  Yes, your region is good (FC, Eastern, All three Oldham Schools) but your team, Ballard, does nothing to add to that.  You're the doormat of that Region.  I wish the KHSAA would re-align a team like yours into Region 3.  It would be more wins for the kids of Region 3.  Another thing, people keep talking about how other Regions are way better than Region 3.  Take Region 1 for example.  That Region is carried by Union County.  If you take Union County out of the mix, then Region 1 earned less points at state last year than Region 3!  If Region 3 had Union County, then they would have had the 4th most points per Region at State last year.  And to piggy back on what Ranger said, Doss wiped the mat with you guys in a scrimmage this year and when their coach tried to schedule you guys for a tri meet, your coach declined.  If were just a Region 3 school, seems like he would have jumped at the chance to wrestle us again.

  11. Yes, Hunter has beaten Cosgrove and Whitson, but he's also lost to Graham and Phillips who I know Cosgrove has beaten.  Outside of Walls, If I'm not mistaken, it looks like Gatsby is going by the order in which the 135 weight class finished this weekend, which makes sense.  Since Hunter was unable to wrestle, that's why he's down there.  Anyway, in this weight class, there's really no difference from number one to number seven.  On the Friday of Regional, this will be the most wide open weight class.

  12. #1 Fan,

You are right, Dockery did pin Chaney earlier this year.  As for Dockery's two lateral drops, I only saw the one that was called OB when Chaney had to take the second injury time.  When was the other one?  As for the Jeff Co. Tournament of Champions, it usually rotates East End / West End and yes Eastern does usually host when it's in the East End.  Valley usually hosts when it's in the West End.  Next year it's in the West End and at Doss.

  13. Ridge45, I have to agree with eville dad on this one.  Dakota was defensive almost the whole match and all of his points were escapes, no offense.  Don't get me wrong, he a very good wrestler and there's nothing wrong with second, but Wolfeiser is just at another level.  Besides, Dakota is just a sophomore and by the time next year rolls along, it could possibly be a different story.  But for this year, I don't think the result would be much different if they met again.  Onto another finals match, was anyone else impressed by the guts Chaney showed against Dockery in the 215 finals.  I mean he lost to Jordan earlier this year by 4 or 5 points and comes back yesterday and in the final seconds, set up Dockery perfectly for that lateral drop.  He executed it to perfection and got the 5 point decision.  Nice job Chaney!

  14. OCMVP,

If you think it's a waste of time and and the Region 3 rankings shouldn't be posted on this forum, why did you take the time to read it?  Either it's not a waste of time or .....  The bottom line is, people do care about who is ranked 3 or 4 in Region 3 and they do care about who is ranked 20th in state, you're just apparently not one of them.  That's o.k.  You're entitled to your opinion.  I just recommend that you "don't waste your time"  reading this unworthy forum.  If you do, what does that say about you?
