just want to put my two cents worth in... as one of the coaches i have to say i am very pleased with all the young men who have chosen to sign up. its a great group.everybody is working hard, and i can tell they want to progress with their wrestling skills.we are growing very fast.if everyone continues throughout the summer and attends as many tournaments as they can.the benefits will be seen come next year at regionals and state. thats a guarantee.also we will pick a few tournaments this year to enter as a team.with the group we have we will do well.keep it up guys, and thanks for joining southend wrestling. shawn cosgrove

wow derek wrestled like a man possessed all through the state tourney. he finished with a bang tonight when he destroyed chaney from fern creek in the finals.everytime deon tried his lat drop derek was ready. now doss high has its first state champ in 20 years. congrats derek. no one works harder than you and you earned it. your coaches, your friends, your family, and especially your dad are all very proud of you. i thought i saw your dad floating home. he was with out a doubt on cloud nine. you are a great kid and a great wrestler. everyone at doss is glad you are part of their family.way to go big boy

derek nickel deserved it more than anyone. mitch irvin got it. hes a good wrestler, but derek is now the lowest ranked wrestler to win a state championship in the state of kentucky. he did it in grand style . he beat the 2 in the quarters. the 7 in the semis. then dominated chaney in the finals.what a show he put on wow he was possessed

wow!nobody put nickel from doss in their finals predictions? he made the semis tonight. he destroyed winters. dials lost also. region three has an outside shot at three champs this year. i say outside because i dont see seeders beating ech.but choate from prp, and nickel from doss have very good chances. nickel is wrestling like a champ.if he gets to the finals look out. he matches up very well against dockery (nickel beat him last time out) and chaney (lost to him by one point this year)

nickel destroyed winter tonight. that should be good for his ego tommorow. dials lost also.green was beaten by chaney.yes its looking pretty good. derek will be in the finals against either chaney or dockery. i think between the three of them,they wrestled he wrestled dockery three times. dockery won the first by one point.the second in o-t. derek won the third by a point. chaney beat him by a point in the k.o.b. this should be a great finals. if derek takes care of business tomorrow in the semis. so far he is taking care of business.

im impressed with the thompson kid from n. old at 135 too. he lost a tough one to cosgrove from doss in the semis, after beating whitson from valley fairly convincingly. then went on to beat kruetzer from fairdale for third. i cant believe hes just a ninth grader. if he works hard he will be very good.

gatsby, i have a question for you. maybe you could clear up for me. what happend in your eyes in one weeks time that made you switch your rankins in the 135 class? durden, phillips, to my knowledge didnt wrestle. even though they had the chance. the reasoning was already explined by archibald. cosgrove wrestled the mustang and reached the finals. how did that bring about the switch in your mind from a rank of 2 to a new rank of 4.

prp lost to doss twice. cosgrove also beat allman of laff. by pin yes it will be interesting

nickel the 215 from doss finaly makes it over the hump. he beat jordan dockery in the finals today in a thriller. he escaped as time was running out and the score tied. that made two state ranked wrestlers in one day that he beat. his team had a good showing also finishing fifth. cosgrove at 135 lost in the finals to zach poulton. wes lewis took third at 119, and billy cahill took third at 130. only ten teams showed up, but there were some exiting matches. one of the best run tournys of the year.the team finishes were 1. senneca 2. south oldham 3. central 4. north oldham 5. doss 6. fairdale 7. valley 8. all stars 9. holmes 10. kcd

wow! iguess i saw that wrong, you put him at second.you trully think that phillips is the second best 135 in the region?losing to cosgrove everytime they step on the mat doesnt count for you . or maybe you just want him to somehow stay above the southern kid.

you can keep your guy at 135 at third on your poll. he will be seeded fourth at regionals though. everyone knows thats where he belongs. there is no way he deserves to be above cosgrove.

nickel of doss beat two wrestlers ranked ahead of him today at the mustang classic. he beat hartman of south oldham in the semis, and he beat dockery of sen. in the finals. cosgrove (doss 135) lost to poulten in the finals. cahill (doss 130) took third. lewis (doss 119) also took third. cahill lost to kusiner in the semis, lewis lost to chui in the semis. doss finished fifth as a team. ahead of the other region three teams.

o.k. you are right. they all will have to wrestle at regionals. point taken. lets be honest though. none of us are stupid. it is all about the seed. if you are a 2 or 3 seed you have a better shot at facing walls in the championship. if you are a 4 seed, you are probably getting third or fourth. dont get me wrong, under the right circumstances a couple of these guys can beat him. but wrestle him in the semis or the finals?lets get real...thats what its all about right? at state... correct me if i'm wrong, doesnt a 1 from a region wrestle a 4 from a different region? a 2 gets a three? in my book seeding is important. you tell your kids to wrestle to the max of their potential so the road to state will be a little less dificult. but hearing the prp coach say it doesnt matter to him should make it a little easier at the seeding meeting. they can have the 4 give southern the 2 doss will take the three. thanks coach

did phillips wrestle walls after he had the opportunity to wrestle durden? if so that is sooooo.. wrong. thats pretty bad. that was a golden opportunity to clear this up before regionals. if thats the case, i think he goes to four seed. cosgrove to three, durden to two. its the fairest thing. i personally like seeing cosgrove at #2 i also know that both durden and cosgrove would of wrestled in that situation. so now i ask myself, does his coach not think hes capable of beating durden again? what a shame. i guess now we put three names in the hat for 2-4 seeds and let fate decide. wow! c'mon coach let 'em wrestle.

well why didn't phillips wrestle durden? i figured hed be wroried about a ranking at regionals and wrestle? :?

i agree with dragonmaster. prp and bc are for sure the favorites. probably between doss southern and i think fairdale for third. i watched the matches between doss, fairdale, mead, and holy cross tonight. saw some kids that will go deep at regionals from doss and fairdale. i am impressed with how far meade has come in just one year, and i think their 112 has a good shot at advancing to the finals. and possibly 3 to 4 or even five more placing. that would give them a good shot at top five if everything falls perfect for them. i also agree that next year they will be a force. top seven or maybe five would be awesome for a first year team.

135 top two look good, but i think cosgrove from doss is third, and phillips from prp fourth. if prp doesnt go then thompson from no fourth. cosgrove has beaten phillips fron prp convincingly every time out this year. he also beat thompson at the dragon invitational 10-1. 215 will be the best weight class. should be some great wrestling all the way around. we have gone to this tournament every year since it started. it is always very well run and a pleasure to be involved with.

who all is going to the mustang classic? anybody know?

i think cosgrove at 135 definitly deserves the # 2. in fact he has earned it. yes he did lose two close matches in a one week period to durden. one by a point. the next in o-t.however, he has beaten phillips handily every time they have wrestled.also,he has beaten whitson from valley the last two times they wrestled.add the fact that he has beaten state ranked opponents like allman from laffayette (pin in second period)the only other notable loss was to the bc kid (walls)and it was fairly close.i think that walls from bc is obviously the one seed. but cosgrove also deserves the two.

it was good to see hunter back at 135 for southern.i know he went 3-2taking fifth.he is a good wrestler and a great kid.not sure who he lost to. cosgrove from doss.went 3-1 and took seventh.he lost by 2 to the simon kenton kid then won out to take seventh.looks like 135 is still going to be a tough one in region 3.it looks like deshon batts the 145 from doss is wrestling well also. he went 3-1 and took seventh also.pretty good for the dragon inv. tough tourny.doss took a very light squad, alot of kids banged up and healing right now.most teams are in that situation it seems.we are proud of the kids that did make it though.

looks like the 135 will retain its excitement. just got back from the dragon invitational. hunter durden is back and wrestling. he looked healthy. glad to see him back. i know he went 3 and 2 and took fifth. cosgrove from doss did well also. he lost a tough one in the first round to simon kenton 7 to 5 but won out to go 3 and 1 for seventh. batts for doss at 145 went 3 and 1 also. nickel at 215 took fourth he didnt wrestle in the finals due to injury. we had a couple other kids win a few matches too. it was a very deep tournament. the kids can see they need to win that first match in this format or the best you can do is seventh.

well put raider.i know all the doss coaches. they are dedicated. they both put in alot of their free time.also they both have newborns and one on the way.yet they still find time to show up for the kids...always...not to trash alan, i think he is a good kid.a bit misguided.but a good kid.but for someone who "knows all about wrestling", where were you on the day they said you should be at practice every day?come on. just because you lost to a couple of tough kids doesnt give you the right to throw a fit and trash your coaches in the middle of a gym full of people.what you did and how you did it is a reflection on you and you alone.the other wrestlers at doss think very highly of their coaches.as for their knowledge...i guess we will see come regionals. i think it will be the best year team wise in a long time
