All 3 were at the state tournament. Very lucky and thankful.

Tom Jurich's son wrestled at Ballard. I saw him many times sneak in to watch his son. Can't say the same for his football coach, John L who had a son wrestle at Louisville, Eastern.

Thank you

Hey Matt, thanks for sharing. I cannot find these bylaws from the middle school website link. Is there a better place to look?
-
The TOC remedied the idea of not keeping team scores as was voted on. So, according to this bylaw is the 2014 state meet not keeping scores and if voted on again this year back with team scores in 2015? Whatever, it's all good.
-
Because I was unclear that it would happen at all if that piece had changed. I'm on record that I personally am fine with anything that promotes our sport and increases the numbers. I am equally on record that we should not vote on things that we are not going to implement. I am guilty of not being aware of said bylaw. When voted on, I don't recall it being close or much discussion afterwards. Could someone have spoken up then?tilt, I'm really confused by this statement. Why would you stop promoting the tournament because you noticed team trophies?
I should know in a few days if the 3/30 TOC date is on at Fern Creek. Someone else posted earlier the difficulty of holding it at a Catholic school during Holy week.

This could be the best thing for us for UofL moving to the ACC:

The KY TOC has been on the KY USA from the beginning. Promoting the event at Alltech was kicked to the curb when the trophies were spotted. In no way it is the intention of a TOC to diminish a state champion. It, as stated before, was an avenue to address some of the inequities your revisions of team scoring was trying to do. Did this year's revision not violate the same bylaw? It is a good idea. Why was it not brought at the meetings when the opportunity was there? As I understand it now, you will be fine with no TEAM scoring at State next year. You mean the TOC that no one knows about? If anything, your TOC attempted to diminish the youth state tournament by having a "super" state tournament after the actual state tournament...lol. Furthermore, all I did was point out the actual bylaws to people to prevent them from doing things that they did not have the right to do. You need to get your facts straight.
-
At the meeting, we kind of made a "big deal" out of having a Tournament of Champions to address the issues of inequities in team scoring as well as the inequity of elementary age kids wrestling on middle school teams. Your use of that clause has under minded the good intentionsThe original youth bylaws state that any change voted on will be implemented the following season. Hence, any change voted upon this year would not affect the upcoming season. To be honest, I thought some of the decisions made, including eliminating team scores was a mistake, and I used that clause to fight to keep team scores in place. Ranger, aka Poobah, made a nice compromise to make three divisions and give trophies out to the top 4. This put the team race back in play, but also gave every team a chance to take home some hardware.
of offering wrestlers an opportunity at a TOC for Kentucky Youth Wrestling. Under minding is a bit strong. Diminished would be more appropriate.

Won't take them long if they get Wirth to buy-in.

This is America and he can say whatever he wants. It is the grammar and spelling that is so, so, so.... someone help me please. I don't want to encourage him. Here is the thing, people complain about him, his posts, etc., but take a second to look at the views on these threads. The ones with the most views are all ones where he has gone off on a wild "tangent". This leads me to believe that people do take an interest in what the man has to say, the numbers don't lie folks. Then people get on here to complain just to have something to post about. People have even went as far as to create screen names just to complain about it. If it bothers them so much, why even take the time to do that? I take an interest in him because he does have a lot of insightful things to say, and I have spoke to him a few times about training, youth wrestling, etc. Was very cordial with me, answered my questions, amd I bet he'd be willing to answer anymore I have. So like the thread starter said, the choice is yours. But I bet more people will continue to read his posts than ones who choose not to. I think there was a thread like this before telling people how to ignore users, but the same people still continue to bash his ramblings. People are allowed to voice their opinions, if he doesn't like a person, he can vent about it, its his choice. You don't have to agree with it, that's the beauty of you having your own opinion, choosing to agree or disagree with his.
Keep on keepin on Mpire, i enjoy your posts and will continue to read. And like i said before, its been a pleasure watching your boys these last two years, and i will continue to follow thier careers.

USA/KY wrestling scheduled that date. Sunday is Easter. The day/date may change to get a proper venue.
Stay tuned....

Isn't it The Houchens Industry Girls State Basketball Tournament?someone else posted on another thread about getting businesses to sponsor the awards. i think that could work provided the KHSAA allows it.

I think enough money is involved that by state law it has to go through a bid process. How about a rotation? Get the State Universities to host. One year at Northern Kentucky, the next at Morehead State, the next at Murray State, then Western Kentucky and so on. This would allow the sport to be showcased around the state, & save on travel for those teams the years it's close to your school. Why should the centrally located schools never have to travel and spend the money those schools who are always traveling have to spend. It could be a 6 year rotation with Lexington & Louisville included. It would allow those universities to showcase themselves as well. Each of the Universities has a arena that is big enough to hold 6 mats. No more dirt and allergies, nor cold arena floors.

I am sure they will be favorites going in and should be.ST.X has many returners in the room and some possible champs should be strong next year.Algeier brothers/ Frankrone,Binder,Lampe brothers and some others i am sure i am forgetting.
They have a couple studs coming up from River City that will also score them some points.
It will be a different challenge for their coaches to keep them from being over confident.
-
You can bet that with St. X winning it, the boys at Trinity will be raising their game too. They have a solid core of young wrestlers.

I know you said you voted against team scores. That is not the problem. The problem is you voted on something that was decided on a state basis in a regional meeting. Someone should have said this issue was already decided, let's move on to other regional business. Someone put in thought and effort into how to score this. Document it and bring it to a vote in Spring.
-
Lexington does not deserve our $$$. Take a look at the coverage in the Herald.
-
Who is taking over at LaRue?
-
Why have the spring and fall meetings if we are not going to adhere to what was voted on? You n ky coaches can get together all you want and decide it is something to vote on when everyone has a say. This action does nothing to get coaches to attend the spring and fall meetings. Ranger, you once described the youth "elementary" as still the wild west. IMO, you shot the sheriff. Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with team trophies. I have a problem with surprises. As one of those involved with organizing this event I have to say it came off better than expected. Huge thanks to a lot of people for their efforts.
My understanding is that gene wolf (president of the youth association) left the team score issue up to the hosting region. I was originally against team scores. The n ky coaches got together and decided to take a new approach to team scores and I believe it was very successful (aside from the Scott co snafu). I'm very confident a better tabulation system will be in place next yr.
