  1. We'll in football he's going to West Point and playing for army so he's not like hes a football prototype going to Lsu or Alabama to play football now that would be amazing playing in front of thousands of people. but what I was just saying is I wish people like this would focus on only one sport instead of not three like Austin quit football to focus on wrestling and look at his success I think all we can agree my point is it's better to do one and succeed and a little success at three

    I could not disagree more.

  2. My heart wants him to end up at either Penn State, or Ohio State. PSU because he's the perfect size to benefit from Cael Sanderson's style, and tOSU because I'd love to be able to drive up on a whim and watch him. My brain, however, tells me he'll be a Gopher or a Cowboy. No matter where he decides to go, I'm excited to see him develop.

I have heard ASU is in the hunt.

  3. From looking at the Region 4 brackets, it appears Dominic Lampe isn't the only wrestler who won't be participating in regionals for St. X

As a former sports editor, here is why this is a story:

    1. To explain why a returning state champion is not wresting in regionals (and from probably the most well-known wrestling family in Louisville)

    2. St. X was a slight favorite to win the region against rival Trinity and that advantage seems lost

    3. It's a story of a school sticking to it's rules even though they may not seem like they fit the "crime"

    4. Why wouldn't wrestling be newsworthy?

Point 2 - Trinity lost the favorite at 220 and a big point scorer at 138 to injury. Does that make X the favorite again?

Point 3&4 - The story IMHO is about school policy and less about wrestling. Today's C-J also featured Mikey Smith from Moore. That story was about wrestling.

  4. "Let's get ready to rumble"

By trademarking his catchphrase, Buffer has generated over $400 million in revenue, selling the rights to music, video games, merchandise and while making personal appearances. His business venture is so successful, Buffer doesn't even have to say his catchphrase to make money. He makes more from the trademark than he does announcing in the ring.

  5. Also forgot to mention team scores. I have a dead heat at the top with Trinity and Union (alpha order for now). A small gap back to FC and CC then the pack.

Without Tate Smith I have to say Union is the major favorite at this point.

I thought every point scored at 220 was going to CC since he is the only one in that weight class. There are other injuries to point scorers that will have an impact on the team race. You just never know and that's what makes our sport the greatest.

  6. Kids do stupid stuff. That includes Mr. Lampe's. Seriously, does anyone think there would have been reason to look in lockers or backpacks if they weren't setting off firecrackers in a locker room? That is stupid. It is unfortunate but, in the grand plan, it won't mean a hill of beans.

This can be an amazing opportunity for St X wrestling. They have numbers and will use the next-man-up mentality. Did we not learn anything from the college football season? I mean they won it with a 3rd string quarterback.

As far as an asterisk at 170, there are plenty of times the #1 man didn't get to wrestle at state. I believe the moderator on here can back me up on that one.

  7. I'll believe it when I see it....binder going 138. Kid above him was pretty big. Not sure if decent plans will make it work...and if FC is going for team title

Physically, AJ looks like he needs to go up. I can't help but think that with a little more strength Duncan doesn't get that reversal. Hitchings will do what is best for the team.

  8. Just my two cents, but that's ridiculous.

What's one Saturday to set aside for this? Qualifying for State Duals used to be a big deal, because a lot of folks felt that it crowned the true team state champs. It's almost sad what it's become now, with teams choosing not to participate for whatever reason. If an illness has hit their team, that's one thing.

You say it used be a big deal because Gary Canter who was an easy interview for you made it out to be something bigger than it was. I don't blame him. I would have done the same if I wasn't ever going to win a KHSAA title. We have a single tournament for a state champion and it gets further diluted with this big/small school thing.
