  1. Today, on my fb memories a post came up from 8 years ago asking for prayers for Jeff and his family. He was in a terrible accident on I-64 heading back to Fern Creek from the MS state tournament. I saw him the following year at the HS state tournament but, have not seen him or his sons in the past few. Just wondering how he and his family are doing these days. Good man and a great family. Hope all is well.

  2. I went Friday and thought attendance was better than in the past. Had to do trackwrestling yesterday. Someone needs to remind the table workers that the mike is hot. A lady overheard in the finals sounded like a blithering idiot. I'll admit that having it on track was really nice plus it is cheaper than a single session pass.

  3. I have a long history with Danny dating back to when Woodford, Wayne and Oldham County were in the same district. As previously stated, I thought Upchurch was more in control. I'll not comment on ethics.

Why do you say it was an illegal hold? I did not see it and there were no penalty points awarded. That is why him never losing consciousness is the only logical conclusion.

Tilt, according to your post, Danny "Upchurch knows his stuff" lol,  but the "WC coaching staff, not so much." Please explain your expert opinion.

Upchurch does know his stuff relative to the rules. The comment regarding the WC coaching staff was pertaining to being in control. To that end, I am sure I would have been just as emotional were it my wrestler I believed to have been choked out illegally. Rules being rules, the WC kid should have been a injury default. It wasn't. One must assume that he was never unconscious.

  5. If a rule was broken and is correctable, it should be corrected.

I don't think anyone is mad except Danny Upchurch. That also leads me to believe that the Woodford kid was not unconscious. Upchurch knows his stuff and was totally in control while they were tending the injured wrestler. The WC coaching staff, not so much. But, I think they may have been more upset that there wasn't a penalty.

Yes. He essentially started the match down 4-0 before putting on an absolute takedown clinic. But it was just scary, I had a good view of his face from where I was sitting. He was unconscious for maybe 5-6 seconds before they even pulled Nevels off of his throat.

I did not see what exactly happened even though it was on the mat right on front of me. People around me were saying he was choked out. Others said he tapped. Either or, if he was unconscious at all - he should not have been permitted to continue. I did not see any penalty points awarded and therefore The Wayne County wrestler should have been awarded the victory as a medical default.

  8. Well, he is on loan from the Buckeyes who do a lot of camps and promotions here. Anyway, he is awesome and it goes to show what a fluke his NC2A finals was.

Regarding the Worlds', people need to wake up and see that Iowa bullying crap doesn't work on the biggest stages in the sport.

  9. I've always felt our officials could learn a few things when watching other state's. Good to see some putting in the extra work to get better. The female, Toska I think her name is does female college matches and I think has the ambition to do some international competition.
