Even the softballers lost. I can go with Gable as coach. I was at Stan Able's camp when Gable was training for the Olympics. He wore a shirt every day that said "Beat Russians".

This was bad. It is time for John Smith to come back as coach. Who was worse? USA wrestling or boxing? Track had some world class melt downs too. Cormier not even making weight. Ok. He did make weight but, not the right way. Crap. Brands and Jackson need to be held accountable too. There's no telling how far this has set wrestling back in America. They're trying to get rid of softball and those ladies are winners. But, all people will talk about and remember from this one is -- PHELPS

I disagree. I would bet that for most athletes their largest gains in strength are when they jump from 18 years to nineteen. This is a huge advantage in wrestling.

3rd Annual Zanesville PAL Summer Wrestling Tournament July 19th
tiltfor3 replied to z_villepal's topic in Events & Marketplace
Z-PAL, I didn't see any KY kids but, I did check out your tournament Saturday. Guys, this was a well run tournament. I'm not sure how many were registered but, there were 6 mats going the whole time I was there and I counted at least 8 officials. Plus there ere tons of midgets for those of you who can't seem to get your kids matches because of low numbers. I saw at least 1 exhibition because this young heavy didn't have anyone in his weight class. Anyway Z-PAL, I encourage you to let us know about your next one. -

Gopher wrestling recruit makes U.S. Olympic history

Training with the Gophers since the 8th grade? There's something wrong with that. IMO -
Are you kidding? That'd be whole different level of abuse.

Henderson County program needs your help!
tiltfor3 replied to Nathaniel Bryan's topic in 2008 Season
I fail to understand how this is a title 9 compliance issue in high school. Are females not permitted to wrestle on high school teams? I thought Title 9 is suppose to be about opportunity. College, that is a different story. When I coached at public school we had to accept girls. At least give them the opportunity. I didn't like it. -
RedMan? It is suppose to be beef jerky when your messin with Sasquatch. Your just gonna p*ss him off even more.

Henderson folks, use this to help save your program.

Henderson County program needs your help!

This is unAmerican. Lay this one on them...... Wrestling is Innate The skies roared with thunder and the earth heaved, Then came darkness and a stillness like death. Lightening smashed the ground and fires blazed out; Death flooded from the skies. When the heat died and the fires went out, The plains had turned to ash. The Epic of Gilgamesh The ominous stanza was a dream. In ancient times mankind wondered about his position, his place. Were the gods aligned against him? Life was not a simple task full of convenience. Food, shelter, and security were never taken for granted. Simply living was a constant struggle. Upon receiving this dream Gilgamesh turned to his comrade and searched for meaning. Gilgamesh, two-thirds god and one-third man, the most feared and respected of man still did not know his place and was overcome with fear. Enkidu, a wild-man from the forest, was once his rival, but now together they were on a great expedition. They were headed into the dark cedar-forest, a place full of fright shrouded in the unknown. The forest was guarded by a demon named Humbaba. No one dared to enter the forest. Nearly four thousand years after Gilgamesh and Enkidu approached the edge of the forest with trepidation, Ralph Waldo Emerson put a poetic spin on their attraction to the place. -
Bulldog leader, thinking like a lawyer is more likely to bring change than being the voice of a victim IMO. When it comes to the educational bureaucracy we live with, the only thing that speaks louder than $$s is parents.

I'm just going to put this out there: 1) We can't expect our kids to close the gap on other states at national tournaments with a couple of more weeks of preparation because of the timing of state tournament. Nothing is better than mat time. Growing up in Ohio, I was introduced to it in the 4th grade. It is awesome that we had such a large contingent of underclassmen but, the real impact is going to come from the kids that competed in Danville. 2) Regarding the KHSAA, it governs all sanctioned sports and is difficult if not impossible to grant an exception to one sport over an other. Think of the inequities that could arise if every basketball, soccer, or volleyball team would coach their high school players in AAU or club competition. Relative to the volunteer or graduated wrestlers on the mat, here

Go here: http://www.wrestling-videos.net/ and click on Levi Duyn 2003 Senior Nationals If that doesn't get you stoked, you are dead. Look at his record versus some of the guys the wrestles. Last I heard he was at The Citadel. This is why you need to go to national tournaments.

I saw Peace beat Courtney in Oldham County last year or, the year before. Granted it was freestyle but, Peace won. Don't remember at what weight either.
-
PeaceMaker, Don't you live in Union? Who'd you think I was talking about?
-
I like Poeta too. I'm a BIG TEN guy but, here's the up side for you all. Jordan Leen is from Soddy Daisy, Tn. He is now a national champion. Can Soddy Daisy be that much different from say, Union,KY? See, it is possible. Just keep working.

Kyle is still alive in the Big Ten consy. He has to beat Keith Sulzer of Northwestern then, most likely will face Jaggers from tOSU for 3rd. Jaggers pinned him earlier this year then Kyle beat him in their dual. Tough weight class but, nothing like 149. Anyway, his ticket is punched for the big dance. Finals @ 3pm.
