    Campbell County 04' vs 12'

Never heard of someone judging a certain year team on what the team members did in their career? Most judge them on their ability the year in question, not what they achieved in later years or previous years. You yourself critisized someone bringing up Ruschell saying they were going by what he did in college, but according to this statement then you would use his college achievments in determining a superior team. If Cambell wins it this year then you can say the ATM of 14 beats the ATM of 12 same goes for Fausz and Mathews. You need to look at the team as a whole and thier abilities in the year in question.

    Campbell County 04' vs 12'

Using your criteria you are correct the 12 team (or big 4) wins hands down. But dynasties are not built on a couple of individuals, its built on the team concept. The one thing that CC has done throughout the years of Bankempers tenure there. 83-present. I am on your side that Campbell is a dynasty with very little doubt. And with the framework that has been built there, after Bankemper finally leaves, the team will still continue to be dominate. That is the final criteria of a dynasty. Can they survive after a legendary coach leaves. And I think when Boggs finally takes over, the team will continue without missing a beat. They have a framework built to succeed. (and man you know how much that hurts for me to say this, but its the truth.).

    Campbell County 04' vs 12'

With that type of thinking then you only need SAM ATM Yenter and Fausz at that big tourney to beat any of the other teams. As stated, 1-4 people do not make a team. Using your thinking. If for some reason both SAM and ATM would have wrestled for another team in 12, and that team had no other state qualifiers. The two of them would have scored 63 1/2 points for thier team and tied for 17th with Wayne Co. That would mean that the team they wrestled for would be a better team than all than 16 teams in the state.

    Hammer and Anvil

I don't think anyone has doubted ATM's supperiority over anyone on any of the past CC teams. The discussion was the team not the individual. Having 3-4 studs on the team does not win the dual if you lose the rest of the matches. (not saying that would happen). Once you get past ATM, SAM, Yenter and Fausz (All definate wins on the 12 team). That is when the debating begins. Who wins the other 9-10 matches in the dual? (only 13 wt classes in 90). no one is trying to degrade anyone or any team. It's fun to discuss these topics. Nothing more.

it was only a joke about the no bumping wt. classes. Wow someone can't take a joke.

    Hammer and Anvil

Hey I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I still think that Babe Ruth was the best baseball player and Micheal Jordan the best basketball player. Oh I know the 90 team would lose to the three or 4 big names on the 12 team (ATM would have to sit the dual out because there was no 220 in 90) LOL. (and no bumpig wt. classes). When I compare teams I try and think what they would do in that era with that era's knowledge. (Meaning if the new teams go back they would get the same training as the old teams and vice versa)

    Hammer and Anvil

And I personally think the 90 CC team was better than the 04 team. The upper wt.s were mean and dominating. But there is no way to compare these teams. I also think that Troy Cole from Conner may have been the best that I ever saw in NKY. But these are just my opinions and everyone knows opinions are like butt holes everyone has there own.

Increase in Injuries this year at the HS Level.

I believe you would need to look into what type of injuries they are. If they are fluke injuries then its just coincidental. If they are more cronic based as in overuse or from constant pounding then you would need to look into stretching and conditioning by the athletes/teams. Or by how much they compete over the entire year. Some injuries can occur because of to much competition throughout the year. There are only so many matches a kid can wrestle in a year before the body starts to break down. Kind of like Marathon runners. They can't run a marathon every week.

Region 6 I'd like to see its !!

Track wrestling is one way to help promote wrestling. The reason I brought this up is because I was talking to a coach who coached in the 80s and is now back in the area. He asked me why he can't find anything on the local teams either in the paper or on track wrestling. He was trying to keep up with some of the local teams but he could not find any of the results in the paper or on the school websites. He knew the NKAC was about to go on but could not find any information on when and where. We as a wrestling community need to make sure that our schedules and results are more redily available to the public. There is no reason to keep records or results close to home, it is of no advantage.

    State Duals Format

If you add the middle school duals to the event then it takes away from the middle school duals. The objective it to highlight those middle school teams at the state duals. If you combined them then the high schools would outshine the middle school event. They should have their own event on their own venue.

    State Duals Format

With only one year under our belt with the new format it is hard to compare. I did however find myself only following one of the events. What I mean is that those who are there for the large school duals will probably only focus on the large school matches and vice versa. It is hard to follow two tourneys at one venue. Other than that there seems to be little difference, except we didn't get to see Larue or Union wrestle Campbell, SK, Trinity or St.X.

Region 6 I'd like to see its !!

Why is this match not on track wrestling? When I look at the Large school state dual qualifiers only Boone Co. has put their information into track wrestling. How is it that three of the biggest programs in NKy (CC, Ryle, SK) can't get their information into track wrestling? Each of those programs have a half dozen coaches or more.

    Region Breakdown

I also went through the district/region/state format, and agree that only the best made the state tourney then. Maybe I didn't explain my point enough. If we have a district tourney then we can still help the smaller schools expand by having their wrestlers still be recognized on the district level. Those less qualified would still not make the state tourney but some would still participate at the region. The best wrestlers still make it to the state tourney which is what we want. That way we can still expand while keeping the best going to the state tourney. The region would then be a 1 day 8 man bracket event. Having the district touney 1st it helps sort the seeding out for the region. We then weed out those non-competitive matches, they will occur at the districts and maybe not so much at the region. Hey but what do I know I'm a washed up never was anyway.

    Region Breakdown

Wow stupid me. What was I thinking. We only want to see the best kids wrestling and gettig some recognition. Why don't we just invite the kids with winning records to the regional tourney that way there would be an even less chance of kids getting hurt before the state tourny.

    Region Breakdown

I think what is being missed here is that everything will be the same at the state tourney. We would still have a 32 man bracket and still have the top four from a region qualify. The only difference is that there is a district tourney before the region. 4 kids from each district would then wrestle in the region. It will actually recognize more kids. With only a region the top 6 are placed in the region. With districts before region 8 kids will be recognized in each region 4 from one district and 4 from another district. It will also give teams a chance to win a district tourney. Example: using the W/E districts above in region 6 Both Campbell and SK would be regional champs. or using N/S districts then Campbell and Conner/Dixie would be district champs.

    Region Breakdown

After looking at that breakdown. Here is an interesting thought. Could each of the regions be broken into districts again? The smallest region is region 5 with 10 teams. Even then it could be 5 teams in each district. Why? 1. Both events could be a 1 day event 2. It helps with seeding in region (the best kids will still qualify) 3. The state tourney still stays 32 man bracket 4. Can help promote more wrestling by allowing some kids to earn a post season medal. Looking at region 6. Could be broken up either North/South or West/East I plotted the schools by location and this is what the districts would look like. (6 teams in each district) District 6 West: Cooner, Cooper, Ryle, Boone, Walton Verona, Simon Kenton District 6 East: Campbell, Newport, Dixie, Holmes, Scott, Cov. Cath. ---------------------------------or------------------------------- District 6 North: Newport, Cov.Cath, Conner, Dixie, Holmes, Boone District 6 South: Cooper, Ryle, Walton, Simon, Campbell, Scott

NKAC REGION 6 RANKINGS DEC 29TH

The crowd was low probably because it was held on a friday. Unless you are a teacher or student most people had to work, and don't get home till 5 or 6. I'm not sure why the NKAC was held on a friday. Probably because the NKAC is not that important of a tourney to the local coaches anymore, and they wanted to still wrestle on that Sat. If you want the NKAC to be important again then you need to make it important. It is one of the few times that the local teams get together and compete against each other. CC, SK, and Ryle spend most of their season out of state and never see the local teams. This event needs to become more important again. The NKAC has taken a backseat to a lot of schools, heck we have even had teams not send their varsity teams to the NKAC a few times.

Funny Old Pic of CCHS Coach Bankemper

He use to have the picture hanging in the wrestling office. I'm almost 100% sure that is not his high school days, but his days wrestling at NKU. He told me once who the big guy was but I forget. Maybe Jeb Paynter?

    Christmas Poll

I'm not sure its even close the top 6 teams traditionally in KY attend the Rumble. CC, Union, X, Trinity, Ryle, Woodford Co. Those 6 by themselves probably would be the best tourney in KY>
  24. IN-G You are correct however there are 6 possible dates to take the ACT. Two before and 2 after wrestling season. Plus in KY every Junior takes the ACT for free at their school. If you are serious about attending college and wrestling you have opportunity to juggle both of them so that they don't cross over. Plus if you are an above average wrestler you would want to hone your skills even more, for the possibility of a scholly in wrestling. To me there are very few reasons to take the ACT during wrestling season. If they are a senior they have already taken it once their Jr. year at school.
  25. The ACT is offered many times throughout the year which is why I have never understood why wrestlers would take it during wrestling season. You can't just blame the wrestlers many of them are told by their parents when to take the ACT. I for one postponed my ACT testing until after the season. This school years ACT scheduled dates Sept 21, 2013 Oct 26, 2013 December 14, 2013 February 8, 2014 April 12, 2014 June 14, 2014
