I think I remember Shaefer just workin him in the state tourney. I believe hurst lost to him by 2 earlier in the year when hurst was down at 106. He is a strong 106 lber. He can catch some of these smaller guys in a bad position and stick em. -
hold up, union county will be there?
-
random draw or seeded? sorry I'm not familiar enough with the rankings this year to tell just by lookin at the brackets. If seeded do you mind posting the top 4 seeded teams??
-
Got hit for stalling in final 10 seconds and it tied the match so he took dude down and got 2 back points. Wild ending. Kid is a freshman.

Boston Cooper Brock Wildcard: someone pulls huge upset

Perfect example of how utterly terrible this forum has become. Good thread started about the potential matchup of two absolute studs and its quickly reduced to mpire rambling on incoherently about nonsense that no one could care less about. I know tons of folks speak highly of Mr Myers and say he is nice and respectful in person...quick question...when you all meet him do you ever ask why he's such a massive tool on the internet? I mean, the list of people he has directly attacked on here grows everyday and it's getting out of hand. Does anyone feel the need to maybe confront him about being so aggressive and combatitive on a forum that solely discusses HS sports? Perhaps the CC coaches or other parents? Or does everyone just gush over how incredibly nice and interesting he is in person? For some folks who are either geographically seperated, or otherwise, from KY wrestling this used to be a great source of information, a place to exchange opinions on teams, indiv. wrestlers, coaching strategies, college recruiting, etc. Now?? Its the Mpire show 24/7 Nothing more. I'll be showing myself out now because it's obvious to me from prior observations that within moments of hitting POST I will be flamed by mpire and his ilk. He will likely call me something derogatory and say something vaguely threatening like "my kid is next" or "thats wut you thunk cause youll never be a champ"" blah blah. Just wanted to get my 2cents in first. Grappler of old: you're still the best all around poster on here. thanks for all the new info you add and being able to recall the past better than anyone, I want to get a beer with you someday and just talk about riding legs in polyester singlets. Ranger, thanks, nothing more to say. A few others I've always enjoyed reading: cmcoy (he does more for this sport than probably any one person since Coach Rusty Parks) kdsmith mathound MatMamma pridewrestler jpizar83 eville dad ubtappin pioneer_pride Josh Claywell (any sports journalist that actually understands and covers wrestling deserves support) tiltfor3 Mr Granby just Wrestle ManBearPig and I'm sure I missed more. peace.

Someone please record this for the public. I don't care if its a nokia cell phone. Get this match on record!

http://www.wimp.com/letswin/ Have a nice day, and remember, there are many things in life more important than winning a state title or a flawless record.

favorite wrestler you have ever watched and why?

Carman Brothers and David Moore and Zarth at Henry Clay Ian Horn and Joe Carr Jr, Chris Dunn (he dominated this state and pretty much used 2 moves his senior yr, no one could even touch his front headlock) Josh Whitaker threw anyone he wrestled effortlessly. Even when they knew it was coming. Sick. Michael Jackson's senior campaign is one of the most dominant in KY history....had some great matches though. Kevin Case harrison County Holbrook Campbell County Livingston Merrit -
Not the toughest but pretty stout: 1999 112 lb class Knable- 4 timer Daviaux- 2 timer, 3 time finalist Anthony Smith- 2 time finalist, 4 time placer Chad Haydon- State champ, placed in nationals that yr Neal Crawford- State finalist Josh Kenneweg- state finalist maybe a few more I'm not remembering this is back when it was a 16 man bracket too.
-
Anthony Smith Christian County. One of the most accomplished and dominant lower weights to never win. Drew Carman almost lost to him in the 98 finals but pulled a sick last second roll to get 2. Smith was upset the next year in the semis by a youngin by the name of Issac Knable ( I thought AS was better that year but he had a tendency to stall in the 3rd period, refs knew it and he got DQ'd for stalling in that Knable match....in OT I think). His brother was a stud too.
-
Well said and I agree with every word.
-
That was great. Better backflip, Joe Sr or Livingston Merritt??

LHL did a story leading up to state and an story in Sunday's paper. They mostly focused on Whalen and his quest for a title. Not sure if they even mentioned which team won. Very Lexington-centric coverage.
-
Guys, the only reason they even chose to have a state tournament this year was due to the Myers. Without them this sport, this website and the Earth itself will cease to exist. Why is that so hard for you to understand???
-
With the new developments up in Reg 6. do you all expect Campbell to not exactly be well received by general fans this weekend? Not advocating anything, just asking. I remember in the past years of dominance (late 90's) it used to be everyone vs Woodford when it came to cheering, and when a Woodford wrestler was upset or down in points the whole arena would wake up and get loud. It can really affect the outcome of a match, in my opinion. Do you expect the same treatment for the Camels?? Should be an interesting weekend to say the least. Good luck wrestlers. Leave it all on the mat.
-
True, I forgot about Brad. He was a stud. Not sure of Kevin's exact accolades but he won nationals.
-
I was part of a state title team and the crowds cheered heavily against my team at regionals and state. Never bothered me a bit. Actually I think I benefited from it. Same thing when I wrestled in college. And this keeps popping up so I'll say it again. I NEVER condone booing a HS athlete. There is a difference in booing a and cheering for or pulling for an underdog, big difference.
-
You understand what it means to be a sports fan? Its OK to not cheer for everyone equally, this isn't a preschool game of duck duck goose. I have my favorite team but I also pull for Henry Clay bc I like their coaches and attitudes of their wrestlers and I've always admired the Union program and how they carried themselves even after huge success. Other programs I won't mention, well not so much, either their coaches or wrestlers of the past have rubbed me the wrong way and I still hold that grudge, deserved or not. That's what makes wrestling, and sports in general, great.
-
NAIA success for sure is Kevin Case from Harrison Co. and now the coach at Bryan Station.
-
No one said anything about BOOing the CC kids, its more about cheering loud for their opponents. I could be wrong but I don't think Larue, trinity, ryle or union ever garnered the angst of the KY fans like Woodford did for so many years. Just wondering if CC will now take over the mantle of "most disliked program." And lets be real, I don't think anyone has anything against the Myers boys, I'm sure their fine young men, it's more the ridiculous behaviour of their father on this forum over the last few months and the fact that the CC coaches took them as transfers mid-season....something that, as far as I know, is unprecedented in KY HS sports.

Therein lies the problem, userdaddy. Determining top 2 isnt easy for all classes. Go ahead and do top 8 but if you didn't win your region you can't be considered. If you seed the region champs but still make them face 4's and 2 vs 3's you've made a huge improvement. In that system you can still have region champs meeting in the quarters (that is unavoidable in a 32 man bracket) but at least its not #1 ranked kid who won his region vs the #2 ranked kid who won his region in the quarters. And of course there is a chance where the #2 or #3 ranked kid didn't win his region. Tough cookies. Only region champs deserve the luxury of being seeded and given a fair shake at making quarters without facing a top ranked kid.
