Bid Opportunity - 2007 World Team Trials & 2008 Olympic
Ranger123 replied to kdsmith27's topic in 2006 Season
I agree 1000%. I have been to both events in Indianapolis and they are awesome. This is a chance to not just watch some of the best in the world, but actually meet them as many of the wrestlers hang out in the stands and in the arena during event and are very accessible to chat and give autographs. I encourage anyone to attend should we get this opportunity. -
I have to believe a few more of those guys will bump up a weight.
-
Just scanning some of the past results, it looks like pretty good competition to me.
-
I have him in the top 10. Not top 5 yet. You still likely have Starks, Jones, Green, Shipp, Kelly, and Turner; a pretty solid group.

Ryle (3) - Peace (a force at whatever weight he ends up), Reid, plus I'm sure they will have a 103 from Gray MS Campbell (4) - Shotwell (outside shot, needs to step it up), Griffith, Brownfield, Fuller Scott (2) - Thueneman (same note as Peace), Patterson Conner (3) - Bates, Brown, Dillon Dixie (2) - Denham, Benson SK (1) - Cooper (a few other guys that are just on the edge) Holmes (1) - Golsby

Sounds like they could have a log jam in the heavyweights. If Harlow doesn't make it back to 171, then he and S. Watson battle it out for 189. J. Watson at 215. Roe and Espinoza battle for 275. That leaves 2 good wrestlers on the sideline.

Standout to me is a good shot at medaling. McCreary (5) - Stevens (especially if he makes 152), Harlow (if he stays at 171), Jacob Watson, Roe, Espinoza. I assume Steven Watson would just replace one of these guys if he is good enough. Sheldon Clark (5) - Matt Slone, Howard, Dials, Kelly, Chaffin Wayne (4) - Sullivan, Vinsant, Daniels, Winchester Johnson Central (3) - Salyers (at 103; or Jude if Salyers doesn't make it), Spencer, Freeman (surprise pick)
-
I think it could be a big year for eastern ky. Wayne, Sheldon Clark, and McCreary have a shot at being in the top 10 in the state. Johnson Central also has some talent and will be tough. All much improved over this season's finishes (Wayne #13, Sheldon Clark #15, McCreary #18, Johnson Central #26).

I heard from someone else at Mc Central that Watson would be back at 189. The team is definitely better with him at 189.
-
And I don't see that changing next season. With him being heavy this summer (150's) I don't see him going below 145.
-
Here is my top 10 right now... PD Tyler Voth 12 FC Caleb Wood 12 Wood Co Coty Lewis 11 Sen John Chui 12 Way Co Bryan Daniels 11 JH Justin Pitcher 11 HC Matt Zarth 10 Lar Co Darwin Perez 12 Tri Grant Ohlman 9 Cam Co Korey Shotwell 9 I expect Warner, Eck, and Fuller to be at 130 and Ervin back at 119 (???).

It was weak and that's my point. Just because you wrestle in Ohio (or someone from Ohio) doesn't mean you're taking on top level competition.
-
I'm not going to disagree with you because I don't know where he has been or who all he has wrestled, BUT, I will say just going to those places doesn't mean squat. The competition has to be there. I know, because as a head coach I have taken a very weak KY team to an OH tournament and brought home some hardware, including a team trophy.
-
Yes, but he wanted to go 135 this season. Body fat test didn't allow it. I think he was only 145 at Conner last week, so I wouldn'tbe suprised to see him at 140 for one last shot at the title.

For., DQ, and Dflt. at the 2006 state tourney.

I agree. I only caught a glimpse of the slam. But I don't think Miller did anything intentional and no way did Bryant lay down. It was just two tough kids going at it with a fluke landing. Too bad 2 good high school careers had to end that way.
