  1. Ha Ha. Speaking of strong words, wouldn't miss a beat. Take your shot. And I believe "it's the same thing that happened to me" comment is EXACTLY taking it personally. Just for reference I took a gander back to 2018-19. You were actually ranked #1 early in the season AND LOST. So not seeing the parallel.
  2. Don't beat around the bush, just say it. I hate Harrison County. I know, always have always will. And pretty sure you didn't beat everyone I ranked ahead of you. Duke explained it pretty well. Tell me his wins. One ranked win at the weight (someone below him). Maybe if he beat Stephen Little it would carry more weight, but to a great extent that doesn't mean a lot at 190 unless it becomes a common opponent win. Believe it or not this is a process and not an easy one at that. Since you have taken it personally, I invite you to get off the couch and do a better job. Nah, it's easier to complain about it. I'll shoot Jacobie's nice "tear drop" from Saturday right back at you both.
  3. Forgot to add. Would like to expand to top 30 next week. Really close, but just need a few more results at a couple weights to have the numbers I need.
  4. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. Things are starting to round into form with most everyone getting on the mat and on weight. I’ve removed everyone (I believe) who hasn’t tested and will adjust everyone to the weight they have competed at after this weekend (wanted to give everyone a week at the +2). Couple interesting notes: - To be the champ you have to beat the champ; with a few changes in lineups, Union has just edged Ryle in the current rankings. This is shaping up to be a fantastic battle between two really really good lineups. Would be a great dual. - We had round 1 of one of my most anticipated matchups of the year. No, not the northern Ky match, but Giannone v Kinley. A back and forth battle that I can’t wait to see the last few weeks of the season. - Most weights are pretty straightforward, but heavyweight has a lot of chaos so there are about 35 kids who could argue to be in the top 25. 5. The dual rankings are not based on dual meet results. It simply simulates a dual based on a theoretical matchup with individual rankings. No bumping weights and assuming everyone is in the lineup. There are not nearly enough head to head matchups across the state to rank duals remotely close.
  6. 100%. Great kid. Was excited to see him battle for a high spot on the podium this year after putting in a lot of hard work.
  7. Guess I should have checked their schedule.
  8. Merry Christmas everyone! Still a lot of changes going on. But I can only reflect what I see in track. As results don't get posted kids won't get credit for them. That is particularly frustrating as a couple weights are light on ranked kids. More importantly, hopefully everyone stays healthy and safe. Looks like we are in for a tumultuous season. And keep praying for all those out west who were impacted by that horrible tornado. Rankings_21_22_1222.pdf
  9. Yep. He is on the roster in the middle of a bunch of freshman and I grabbed the wrong line. Will update next week.
  10. Another week another update with lots of movement. Still a lot of settling to happen over the next few weeks as we get into big tournaments. Over the next week I will start removing anyone without a weight assessment. Then after Christmas I will move kids to weights they have competed at. Of note, the team race is getting interesting. While Ryle remains the favorite, Johnson Central and now Union Co are within striking distance. Paducah Tilghman is sort of on an island at 4, but we haven’t seen much of them yet. Teams at 5 through 9 are essentially a dead heat. There are still a couple weights that are light with ranked names. Hopefully as we see some tournament brackets over the next two weeks those will fill out. Rankings_21_22_1215.pdf
  11. The problem is not keeping up with everyone, it's getting all the results in track. Only the Miller win is in track at this point. So until most of that shows up he won't make it. But I will keep an eye on him.
  12. Yeah just noticed that. If he’s not on the roster by Monday I will remove him.
  13. Yeah those union kids coming back created some weird situations. Also that heavyweight ranking in the middle of the pack last year was chaos. Will definitely need to give it another look.
  14. A lot of updates this week, but still a LOT more to come. We’ve mostly seen dual action thus far which makes it tough to determine weight classes, so interested to see weights over the next couple weekend tournaments. Rankings_21_22_1208.pdf
  15. Both looked solid today. Eckman should have beaten the 4 seed but put himself in some weird positions on the mat. Little is a monster 190. He was in on the winning takedown in OT against the 3rd ranked kid in the country in the quarters.
  16. Haven’t been able to see the entries at all weights for Saturday’s Raider Rumble, but a few weights will be VERY, VERY interesting. This is annually one of the best events in the state and this year is no exception. 106 - #1 Raney, #2 Vega, #3 Evans - young talent but hard to beat the top 3 at the weight in the same bracket 113 - #1 Raney, #2 Orth, #9 Marquis 120 - #3 Jenkins, #5 Trumble, #8 Meyer, #14 Wilbers, #19 Johns - solid deep group here 126 - #1 Sander, #2 (113) Lampe, #7 Gilbert, #12 Sulfsted 132 - ? 138 - #1 (132) Thomas, #4 Bowers, #7 Speaker, #19 (132) Mattingly 144 - #1 Andreoni, #2 Smith, #5 Schweitzer, #13 Mayes, #14 Stacey - tough weight that is somewhat wide open around the state; this will set the pecking order, add in Searcy (East Central) and this will be a must follow bracket 150 - #4 Bowers, #4 (144) Oliveros, #8 Banfield, #14 Peace, #20 Dowdy 157 - ? 165 - #2 (157) Messerly, #3 (157) Kinley, #7 Richmond, #15 Walton, #20 (157) Hom - Messerly/Kinley could be really fun 175 - ? 190 - #1 (175) Duke, #12 Hyden 215 - #3 Elliston, #10 Fleek, #16 Peltier 285 - ? There will also be a number of really tough OH/IN kids in these brackets. They always ignore Ky in their previews so I won’t highlight them here. But don’t be surprised if kids from Elder, Moeller, Lebanon, Wyoming, or East Central place very high.
  17. Happy Thanksgiving all! I know the season has technically already started, but I haven’t really seen any results and not much has actually happened yet. So this will be the final “preseason” ranking before the real action kicks off. There are still a few teams that have yet to post body fat results yet, so a lot of weight movement still to happen. That will have some impact on the team race as well. It looks like Johnson Central will be making a push to challenge Ryle at the top. And we all know you can’t count out Union. Also of note, all the Union homers had to do was be patient and it ended up just like you thought at 106. Rankings_21_22_1125.pdf

  19. This is obviously just the start of the season, but I see a couple weights that look really really interesting. And I’m assuming I caught all of the major players that took advantage of the extra year.
  20. The 2021-22 season is here. Hopefully we are able to get back to a normal season this year with safe and healthy competition. There are a lot of unknowns coming into this season. We have some feedback on kids using the free year, but I’m sure there are some I missed. There has been a decent amount of off season events, but with the weight class changes there are even more questions than usual. As always, feedback is appreciated. Preseason notes: - Ryle is looking really tough to beat going into the season - Johnson Central has a very good lineup and with the tragic loss of legendary Coach Matney they will have some extra motivation - we could add another 4-timer to the list this year if Cole Thomas can run the gauntlet one more time Rankings_21_22_1015.pdf

    Spencer Moore

Thanks. He is working hard, competing well, and learning as he is taking some lumps. Still a lot of work to do to get where he wants to be. But most importantly, he is loving life in Chapel Hill. Amazing teammates and coaches and school.
  22. Could have. As a general rule I don’t follow MS results as an input to change these rankings. I will go back and give it a look, but these ranking primarily influenced by in season HS results. The wins/losses by these two good kids are what put them in the spots they currently sit in. But I will definitely give it a review especially if they end up in close proximity (say 11 and 12) then that result should definitely be considered.
