  1. 1. Loved the new arena. Much much better than Frankfort

    2. Ticket prices were about the same as last year if I remember correct. Didn't notice any significant change in price

    3. Stayed at the Clarion

    4. I am guessing same thing as Brock and Trey were carrying around. Seems to work. I would like to know. I would put a back pack filled with the same on my sons back.

There are still improvement to be made at the new arena but I think its a great place to have the state tournament and I hope it stays there for years to come

  2. I was assuming that after the 145 lber quit that Stephen was going 152 and Bauchman would cut to 145. Is this too much of a cut for Bauchman to make? If he cant make the cut to 145 can bump up to 160? Either way is this going to leave Campbell Co with one less kid scoring points at State? I would have to think Campbell is the favorite now to win team title but having a weight with no points scorer will come into play

  3. Thanks for the input D.W.... We have not been to the WCI before and was hoping the competition level would be close to the Raider Rumble or the Dragon. Looks like it is going to be a notch below those two, but I am sure there will be plenty of tough kids

  4. OK I am not talking about middle school. I cant say anything about the middle school program, I am talking strictly about high school. Yes Dru Schroer went here last year but is enrolled at Boone this year. To answer your question 'coffeesgood" Walton Verona is an independant school and is open to out of district kids if the grade level they are in has room for out of district kids. That have to pay tuition as well as provide their own transportation and maintain a B average, so I am quite sure the KHSAA is well aware and allows this kind of thing

  5. Walton would be a good fit for a trasfer, the kids you guys got from Ryle, Cooper, Simon Kenton, Boone County and other places seem to be fitting right in.

    .

Enlighten me what kids we have at WV from Ryle and Boone Co , " and other places" We have two kids on the wrestling team that live outside the school district. One has been there since 8th grade for three years now and the other since his Frosh year. Neither is from Ryle, Boone Co or other places

  6. Mr NKY 3x , sounds like you have a connection with Seaman family. Send him the way of Walton Verona. One of the best schoolsmin the state. He would fit in nicely right at 138/145 with us. We have a few good drill partners for young Mr Seaman right in that weight range and one of the best coaching staffs in the state. Share in the good fortune with move ins here. Grant Co got your boys, Ryle had Mark Hall. In all seriousness, it's great to see Kentucky wrestling getting tougher each year.

  7. OK, so we have heard from C.C and Grant Co, so how about somebody from from Ryle, SK, Conner, Cooper, Scott, Bishop B, Dixie, Holmes, Boone Co.,Newport.. I know I am leaving someone out but can't think what team it is right now. Step up and throw your prediction out there for your team

  8. I'll start it off in Region 6.

    Campbell will take 11.

I'll even give the wt. classes. 106,120,126,132,138,145,160,171,180,194,Hwt.

Lets see how close i get."

holy smoke! 11 is a pretty bold prediction CCwrestleroldschool! That would be strong if you all do send 11. I would say if you can do it, should give Ryle a run for winning the region sending 11. We will see. Thanks for starting it off.

  9. Region 6 is getting tougher to make it out, which is great. Would be great if all regions eventually were as deep. If so, just being a state qualifier, would be an accomplishment. Lets hear from someone at each region 6 school how many you think your team will send to state and look back after the regional qualifier and see how close everyone was on your predictions.

  10. leg2ride, sounds to be very uninformed and not firmiliar with healthy eating habits for himself and kid. My son eats what he wants withinh reason about 8 months out of the year. "within reason" meaning he dont have donuts and chocolate milk for breakfast every day. Sure he can indulge in a donut or candy bar from time to time but this is not normal eating habits for him even during the off season. Also soft drinks are allowed but he now chooses to maybe have one per day maybe, but does not have soft drinks durning the season. Nothing but empty calories with no nutritional value.

As far as cutting weight, that mostly depends on the kids weight as well as body type. Does he have extra weight to shed? Obviously 2lbs is not nearly as hard for a 80 lb kid to shed as a 45 lb kid. My son has always been about 7 8 percent body fat so in his case there has never been much extra weight to cut but he usually cut a 2 to 3 lbs during middle school. I would suggest having Jr. eat oatmeal for breakfast , then packing his lunch during the season, which would consist or a turkey sandwich, an apple or banana and maybe a yogurt. Everyone has their own opinion on this topic just like any other but it bothers me to listen to people suggest that someone allowing the 5-8th grade kid cutting 3 to 4 lbs is obsessive! My son is now a 9th grader and you would be hard pressed to find a happier kid. He was a 2 time elementry state cham as well as 2 time middle school state champs so I would say its worked pretty well for us
