Does anyone know roughly what the average salary is for a wrestling head coach in our state? Have been looking at other wrestling chat forums and seeing the salarys that coaches are being paid and I can not imagine those type of salsrys being paid here. I only ask this because there will be a new high school built between Ryle and Conner and is to open in 2008 and would be wanting to post this opening on a few chat forums.

True. But all I am saying is that you will never take a stud or really good kids and snap his head down into a front headlock from your feet. You may do that to a kid that is middle of the road maybe. -
If you want to try conner , contact Pat Lee at pat@cougarkids.org

Jhouze: You usually get a front headlock on someone from your feet.?Dont get me wrong.....that is exactly what you want , but I just cant imagine a highschool kid giving someone else a front headlock while both guys are on their feet. If you mean you go to a front headlock off of a missed shot by your opponent You are doing some good stuff there -
Set by the schoolboard? really? That is intresting. I would have thought that was dependant on each individual school. Good to know. I saw where one opening in northern Ohio (sandusky area)paid $6500 and one in the Columbus area paid $5200.Guess we arent off Quite as much as I thought.

There are other clubs, but like I said if you are going to be in Gray middle schools district you may want to just go there. They have a good program. If that is what you want to do contact Mike Palmer at kmpdmd@fuse.net

Woodford and LaRue will both be small schools wont they? Or atleast that is what I have been told. Maybe this isnt accurate
-
There are not many youth clubs in the area. Simon Kenton has one. I believe Conner has one but if you are going to be living in Union, Gray middle school has a good program.

Does anyone know of any new youth clubs starting this year? If so where and who will be coaching?

I dont know how much all of you keep up with the national sceen in high school. I watched Dustin Schlatter when he was a junior at the Ohio State Tourney in the FINALS now. You know anyone in the finals there are awsomwe. He hit the move you call a cheap throw by five times.. Teched the kid in the second period. I would say him and that move

800 schools in one division? Holy cow. To me that would almost deter a kids that hadnt wrestled since a young age from starting. (800kids in each weight class) That being the case I would bet that most of the kids that make the podium could win state in alot of other states. All that I want is for our kids to consistanly compete with other states.Woodford Co. was our best team last year and I will bet they couldnt beat half of the schools in Ohio.It would be great to see our kids consistantly place at the senior nationals. If two divisions isnt a step in that direction then I dont want it. I am just looking at what it will take for more schools to participate.

Mathound: I agree totally that getting more youth kids involved is the biggest thing we need here to close the gap on our neighboring states, but also more programs.(high schools)I am not saying that making two divisions is what we need but I do think this would encourage more schools to start programs in the felt they may be able to be competitve in a short time. Obviously a new school would have a better chance of competing if it were two divisions. Competing against 45 is easier that competing against 75.I am just kicking this around to see what everyone thinks but I cant see keeping only one division IF we ever get to the point that we have 90 or more schools.

Guess nobody has any ides or thoughts on this topic

Who was the best wrestler when you were in high school?

Never got to see Joe Carr jr. but its obvious he was awsome -
Pegnuins: My point is the needless bickering and stone throwing that goes on. I dont mind a little misspelling because I know I misspell words too, but alot of the stuff that is said seems very petty and immature to me.A few people I guess just need to be reminded this is a forum to discuss wrestling not degrade and insult other people so please dont take offence if you arent a mudslinger

present time. Ruschell and Murton -
LOL at MATTHOUND.. Man!!! You are certainly asking for alot from some of the guys on here!!I mean I agree with you 100 percent but just look at all the mudslinging that goes on on this site. I suspect that atleast half on the people are highschool kids just by the replys and blah.blah.blah'sand critisicism that goes on here. I mean I would hope to think grown adults dont behave in such childish manner.

O.K...So there will still only be one division as far as each weight class goes. I am just wondering what everyones opinion is on this subject. I have read a few of the posts that there is going to be some more schools starting programs this year. I know there will be a new highschool that will take kids from Ryle and Conner opening in 2008. At what number does everyone on here think we need to look at changing things as far as the state tournament , or do we need to just keep it the same no matter what the number of schools may grow to? I mean it does seem possible that in the not too near future we may reach 85 or more..I had heard the number of around 72 or 73 last year and with the addition of four or five more this year and another in two more years, that will put us around 80 schools if it stops there. What does everyone think??

Back in the day, David Barnes(sk) -
Does anyone know for CERTAIN how the state tournament is going to go as far as two divisions go? I mean are there going to be two champs in each weight class or will there only be one class but keep track of points as two divisions or exactly how is this going to work this year?

I just dont understand all this talk about (fair) and someone getting the shaft after they have worked so hard.. This sport is about working hard, but if you have a format that only lets 4 kids per region in , then BY GOD you had better put in enough work to be in the top four!! Its just personal preference but I like the 16 man format with seedings better
-
I AGREE 100oercent with you scubasteve that the 16 man format is better at state than32
