The major problem that we have here in Ky with the officiating stems from this....In Ohio, Indiana and Illinois in order to be a certafied official you must attend one state rules meeting and four district meeting each year to stay current on the rule changes. The only requirement here to stay khsaa certafied is to attend one state meeting each year. I have talked to Julian Tackett (khsaa) about this. His responce (and I can buy this) was that we are allready short of officials and if we make the requirements tuffer to keep your certafication then more guys will let their certafication lapse and we will be EVEN shorter..hmmmmm. not sure how I feel about that one. But I agree totally that the Churella and Hendricks match had two HORRIBLE calls and one questionable call.

As far as I am concerned, they can keep riding time i college. I watched the NCAA finals today an I hate seeing someone get a point for (riding) someone else for a minute. I hope it never makes it to highschool. This is only my opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions

Elementary State Tournament and Brock Jones Invitational El

Thanks for the clarification!! -
I guess I will put my two cents worth in on this as well. I personally think a 32 man bracket does cheapen the accomplishment of making it to state but where we (kentucky) are as opposed to other states , maybe this is best at this time. Our middle school state tournament has a 16 man bracket with seeding and I would like to see the high school follow siut, but again, I want what is best overall for our state. The other thing. DUDE,! way too many "in crosscountry and in tennis"..

Trinity did very well and congrats to them, but I think for me the suprise of the tournament was Conner taking second in team points

I thought the tournament was the smoothest best run tournament that I went to in the state of KY all Year! Good job by the people who put it on and ran it!! One piece of constructive critisism though.... I hate that 5 match bull crap that dosent allow a kid who wrestles his way back out of for third and has 5 matches in to even wrestle for third. Lets figure something else out. An exemption so that kids can wrestle a sixth match if need be or weigh in and wrestle one round on Friday so that this dosent come in to play...Just a suggestion. Anyone have any other ideas?

MONKEYROLL: If you were at the tournament I guess you seen first hand your picks didnt turn out too well. Better luck next time.
-
Monkeyroll: What about John Fahy at 75 lbs...He has never lost a match in the state of Ky yet.. You dont think he will even place at 75??
-
Guess that is possible. As for lee at 140 he got 2nd last year to Hitchings and I dont think he has lost a match yet this year.
-
Myron Bradburry finishes third at 82 ??? You dont even have Jacob Lee placing at 140 ?? Was this an oversite or you dont think he will place
-
True. Paden and Watson are good. I have seen Watson loose twice this year to Bradburry first hand. Also I watched Watson and Paden wrestle. Watson had Paden beat and locked hands twice in the third period and also got a very contraversial call ,but the match was decided by one point. Went to Paden. Havnet seen the other kid you mentioned.Anyone can pull and upset by I just think Myron will do it again.

I dont care how the outcome of this is or was.I applaude them for going to such a tuff tournament out of state and wish more of our schools would do exactly the same. This is what we need more of to raise our level if we EVER hope to compete with Ohio and Indiana. Be proud of yourself LaRue

65 Matt Fahy...St x at 70 I hear Lampe from Fern Creek is tough..75 Is John Fahy ..St X. 82 Myron Bradburry..Trinity. 89 is Brent Hitchings ..Trinity....above those weights , I am not firmiliar enough to predict

The 5 match per day rule is from the National Federation of High Schools.

Murton placed 6th at the beast. Made it all the way out to the semis before loosing.. Way to go.....Very impressive!!!!We just need eventually to get a few more kids at this level. Murton, Shearer, Ruschell. We are headed in the right direction.
-
Can anyone make a list of what schools are in each region? If nobody knows them all then are they listed on any website.?
-
Three kids from Ky made it into the national rankings. 140, Jacob Murton,21st...189,Richard Starks,19th....215,Taylor Scherer,30th..Way to go guys. We just need a few more.
-
It is a sad day for me. I just got W.I.N. magazines high school preview issue. They give their national rankings as well as a state by state breakdown of best school and wrestler in the state. They have Jacob Murton listed as our best wrestler and Woodford as our best school but no one.....yes, no one was nationally ranked from KY..Maybe a few guys can crack their top 20 before seasons end.
-
State duals....#1. Woodford.#2. LaRue.#3.Ryle..#4. South Oldham

Eville Dad, I'm not bashing KY.. I Love our state and I am proud to be from here. I guess when someone post a topic and others start to give their imput ,I start wondering (typing) why we have a certain problem and how to solve it, and so you may be right in the fact that some of the same explinations keep poping their head up time and time again.I would like nothing better than for more youth clubs to start here as well as middle school and high schools to travel and compete more against schools out of state and eventually to allways have five or six kids ranked nationally but untill then I guess we will have to keep hoping and talk about how to get there..
-
10 times? maybe two for myself since I have been on here, but certainly not 10. If you want to go there the only things I see being run in the ground is the (woodford is the greatest or the everyone else hates woodford thing).Anyway....way to go Lawrence Co..Good luck and I salute you guys!!
-
Dawg: True. Very true. I may be 100 percent wrong here , but I think that is because no one here wants to loose. Rather than schools as well as kids on there own seeking out compitition from other states and maybe loosing we would rather just stay here in our own state and not be beat...What does everyone else think about this theory? True or not true??
-
Lets hope this also encourages more high schools to add wrestling programs
-
ALLAMERICAN: Barnes may be better than Ruschell or may not, but the fact is that Ruschell is the head coach there. Also I have been told, I dont know first hand but have been told that Dave Barnes isnt as active at Ryle as he has been in the past. DAWG: Gary Canter. Thanks.

Carr,Carr, Bankemper,Ruschell and LaRue's coach(stumped trying to think of his name now)
