    Mizzou vs Oklahoma State

Mizzou tied the #1 team at 16 after Cox wins at 197. Tough match against a senior for ATM. Still, shorthanded a bit Mizzou pulls some surprises and hangs right with the Cowboys until he very end.

2017 WSAZ Tournament in Huntington West Virgina

Is this on Track Wrestling to follow?
  4. Union County is back at the St. Charles West Invitational in St. Louis this weekend. There are some of the top teams from Missouri (Minus Park Hill) and a tough Illinois team as well. Last year at full strength Union finished 4th with 2 champions. Hope they are at full strength again. I honestly believe the depth of this tournament and the number of very tough teams and wrestlers makes this a more challenging tournament than Mater Dei. Good luck, guys. Hold up Kentucky in MO.

Missouri over Buffalo 28 -8 (MYERS)

Congrats to Austin and Mizzou. I sure hope the injury bug gets off the team before the MAC championships so we can get enough guys to NCAA's to make some noise.

KY wrestling at Midlands and Scuffle

Intermat had Dejounette ranked 8th - with no other Scuffle heavy ranked in their top ten.

KY wrestling at Midlands and Scuffle

My comment was simply that I think a 220 would be more in ATM's wheelhouse. There is a huge gap between 197 and 285 and unbelievable that high school recognizes this and not college. That said, being realistic, where the Southern Scuffle 197 had #1 versus #2 in the finals, the highest rated 285 in the Scuffle field was #8 Dejournette. The champion from Duke is ranked 17th. Only one of the top 10 heavyweights were even entered in the Scuffle.

KY wrestling at Midlands and Scuffle

I know this post will result in a furious response, but ATM went 2-2 at the Southern Scuffle. Based on results I have seen he has about a .500 record. Decent for a D-1 team competing against very stiff competition, but not elite by any stretch I saw some of his Southern Scuffle matches, and although Austin may have set Mizzou strength records, he still looks considerably undersized for a 285. Compared with high school he has clearly tried to put on a lot of weight to compete at 285, however he consequently does not look quite as quick in executing drags and shucks as I have seen in the past. Nature Boy this is not a criticism, he is competing against elite, upperclassmen at 285. I really wish college had a 220 where Austin would not have to try to add 65 pounds to his frame to compete with the giants.

Hope someone from one of the college women's programs are scouting her. She is a candidate for a scholarship to wrestle somewhere.

Union County vs Father Ryan (TN)

Wow, it says a lot about Union's program that Father Ryan (Nashville) would travel that far for a dual meet. They are pretty selective of where they compete. Very impressive. Too bad they don't travel a few more miles and jump into the Mater Dei Invitational next week. I have seen a lot of state champions over the years wrestling for 3rd and 5th place at Mater Dei. Will UC be at full strength for the Ryan dual? Good luck, guys!!!!!

    Big Match Wednesday 12/7/16

Maybe this should be on the college thread, but all high school kids in Kentucky should tune in to the Big 10 network Wednesday evening and watch a 4 time Kentucky state champion wrestle the reigning olympic champion at heavyweight. Austin Myers from Campbell County will be wrestling for Missouri against Kyle Snyder of Ohio State. Tune in and see what hard work and commitment can help you achieve...and root for the Bluegrass Boy!!!

    Northern Iowa Kentucky Results

Two notable Kentucky results this weekend at a tough UNI tournament. Brock Ervin made it to the finals and finished a close 2nd place at 149 for Illinois. ATM lost a tough semifinal and won out to 3rd place at Heavyweght for Mizzou. Great Results for former KY grapplers. Congrats guys!

    College News.

Looks like Austin Myers transferred from West Virginia to Missouri. I think it's a big step up in programs, considering Mizzou knocked off Iowa to win the NCAA dual championships two years ago. Austin will have J'den Cox for a workout partner. Not a bad thing to go head to head with an Olympic medalist every day in practice. Hope the Missouri wrestling forums are prepared for the posts that will be coming their way!!!

    Sean Fausz

Nobody reported the stunning upset by Sean versus Nebraska this weekend. He defeated the #9 wrestler in the nation AT Nebraska. Great representation of Kentucky for North Carolina State! "Overall, tonight was an outstanding team effort," said head coach Pat Popolizio. "Once again, the team stepped up to the challenge. We showed a lot of physical and mental toughness tonight in getting this road win. "Sean Fausz's win (at 125 pounds) over a highly ranked wrestler really made the difference tonight. I am very proud of the focus and determination he showed. He has put himself in position to finish on a high note as we start to focus in on our last two duals and the postseason."

    Union County in St. Louis

Union County placed 4th at the St. Charles West tournament in St. Louis this weekend, behind Edwardsville, Illinois, Waynesville, Missouri and Francis Howell, Missouri. Saul Ervin was dominant in winning the tournament at 120. Bryce Sheffer lost in a tie breaker to the #1 ranked large school 126 pounder in Missouri. Micah Ervin lost by tech fall to the #1 ranked 132 pounder in Missouri. Chance Oxford lost by tech fall to the #1 ranked 138 pounder in Missouri. A solid effort, with 5 finalists and 2 in the 3rd place match. Still, UC will need more from their second level kids to hang at the state tournament.
