Topics like these tend to rise up around this time of year where we discuss the effectiveness of random draws, rather than proper seeding. I figured it would be worth it to bring light to one of the examples as to why we SHOULD switch to a seeding style bracket. 113's bottom half of the bracket boasts the number 2,3,4,5,6,8, 9 seed. with the top half not salty, just pointing out its best, to save the best matches for the later rounds and where i dont have the full bracket in front of me, odds are you are going to have atleast 2 of the top 8 kids wrestling eachother in conso's to get to placing matches.

REscalera the current system is for nobody, and helps nobody. wrestlers 2-8 have to bank on not getting a bad draw or they not get to the finals or to medal rounds.
-
Yet that Random Draw is fine if you're the best mentality only works, well, if you are the best. Yes, it didnt matter for the stud who won the weight class; but it has drastic effects for the remaining guys. you are speaking from the wrestlers mentaility "idc who i face i am the best one here" im speaking from a fan's mentaility, i want to see the true 1 and 2 face in the finals, the true 3-8 face eachother in the placing matches and not because they got the luck of the draw, but because they beat the kid they should of beat, or pulled an upset.

interesting info on the national circuit. travis sullivan has one of the fastest pins ever recorded in the nation. http://www.thewrestlingtalk.com/high-school-wrestling/3323-fastest-pin-high-school.html

Are there National State vs State duals?
Sandman replied to archibaldhumperdink's topic in 2008 Season
national team duals are held in maryland every year about 3 weeks after state. you can compete as a state represented team or as a club team. as of this time there is no team ky at the high school level. although i would like to see it. -
wow. it looks like you actually thought before you typed this time. first of all i didnt call you out, you called me out, remember? secondly , your 180 degree turn on joe b. is welcomed. i hope you live up to that promise of working with him instead of worrying about him getting credit for the kids who do well. in the end all wrestlers down in the etown area will benefit as will all the kids in the rest of the state that compete against them.godosh.

i cant help but get the sense people are actually slamming joe b in some way. this guy is a pioneer of wrestling in ky. thats right pioneer. we are only in the infancy of wrestling .so anyone trying to be an advocate for wrestling in our state at this point in time of wrestling in ky, is a pioneer. our ky wrestlers that could actually compete at a national level are so few ,(but growing),that we need as many people like joe b involved in this sport as we can get. i see him two hours away from his home every sunday in the cincinnati youth wrestling association tourneys. i know of his camps that he organizes and drives his kids to during the season and the summer. and while you can give no one person credit for the advancement of another human being in anything, you can hand pick a certain few that lead our kids in the right direction. joe b is one of those few.

Anyone know anything about Golden Cross Wrestling
Sandman replied to wrforlife's topic in 2007 Season
he is an incredible technician and coach. his practices are amazing and the competition at these practices are great. there has been many ohio state qualifiers and placers at every workout. i am definitely going to his camps. he was jordans right hand man for many years and now has moved south. i recommend it to anyone willing to drive and work your butt off. -
i would say that if dusty brown didnt spend his summer eating or laying on the couch all day instead of lifting he probably would have made some more noise down at state this year
-
dustin brown is....and would also like to work out with any body who is interested
-
bigtime130 aka matt neal . dont get on here acting like dusty , he gets into enough trouble on his own without your help. from dusty's dad.
-
i know about the lights, i counted them while i was on my back when i was in the seventh grade my first year down state.
-
somebody is going home early. ervin and brown should meet round 2. Shotwell and kraft meet round 2 with winner meeting eck in quarters. Then loser of ervin/brown meet loser of shotwell/kraft vs ecck in the third conso's. all of these guys are legit top six, too bad one will leave without placing.
-
these seem like good rankings
-
