Who was the best KY high school wrestler in the past decade?

Like I said Ruschelle beat bryant at the bluegrass games 11-8... Bryant beat him about 6 weeks earlier.. Bryant was hurt going into state his junior year... no excuse but im just saying it would have been another good match.. Stacey is not a good wrestler.. a good staller but not a good wrestler.. Neway how could You guys say that bryant shouldnt even be in this convo.. He had over 170 wins in just 4 years of wrestling.. One of the strongest pound for pound wrestler iv ever seen.. And the big thing is that he is a high school all-american... Only Ruschelle can say that other than bryant.. so he at least has to be number 10.. who else could you but above him that I didnt.. On the Murtons.. Wish that they would have had some ky competition so we could have seen how good they were..

Who was the best KY high school wrestler in the past decade?

As I recall Ruschelle didnt walk through his junior and senior year.. He had several close matches with Ben warner.. And In the off season Bryant beat him 9-4 and at the bluegrass games Ruschelle only beat bryant 11-8.. If Bryant hadnt had an injury his junior year goin into state I would have enjoyed seeing that match only cause bryant was just unbeleivably strong for his weight... As for Sullivan.. He had no ground game.. He only had one move.. not taking nething away from his accomplishments cause he was a good wrestler but just not even in the top 25.. The murtons were dodge by everyone.. so they never wrestled a good ky wrestler.. NO competition.. I have to give it to Courtney.. Courtney Cooper Ruschelle Jake Murton Richard Starks Taylor Scherer Derek Scott Zack Brewer(most dominate heavyweight.. c'mon) Murton Bryant (best not to win state at least nationally...Pre-season All-american) I beleive Ruschelle and bryant are the only ones to be able to say high-school all-american..

    Next years regions results?

Sullivan will be at 112. He has previously stated this numerous times, and I personally heard him say he would be at 112!

Why has Ben Warner registered under Junior Nationals and for Sophmore Nationals??

    top 8 119

Rushell would tech/pin Murner Miller and Voth would be the best matchup between these. Voth would probly win against last years Miller (but this years Miller would kill Voth) Warner would pim Irvin Trimble and Chui would be a great match, slight advantage to Trimble. Bryant would tech/pin Daniels Peters would pin/tech Cornett Jackson would tech/pin Stocker Murner and Wood would be a great match with slight advantage to Wood. probly would be 5-3 in favor of 2005

    top 8 119

    I also beleive 119 was a lot better last year than this year. Last year 119 was unarguably the hardest weight class. This year 145 was the hardest followed by 125 then 130. 119 was about number top 5 of strongest weights. Strength of weights in order: 1. 145 2. 125 3. 130 4. 103 5. 119 6. 152 7. 112 8. 135 9. 189 10. 171 11. 215 12. 275 13. 160 14. 140

    senior nationals

Well, no one from Kentucky has registered yet so it is hard to tell. I would say Eric Bryant and Jacob Murton has the greatest chance of placing. Both have proven theirself against national competition, with Bryant at Pre-season Nationals and Murton's performance at the Beast of the East. Richard Starks could make some noise, along with Derek Scott.

    Sophomore Nationals in Pittsburg, PA

There are a few Ky wrestlers that can compete at a national level. I thought I would put together a list of those who I beleive could compete then put an asterik beside the ones I think could place in their grade level. Senoirs Derek Scott* Eric Bryant* Jacob Murton* Austin Cooper Richard Starks* Taylor Scherer Juniors Ben Warner* Dan Fuller (if he was at 119) Daniel Thueneman Sophmores Travis Sullivan* Shane Parks Coty Lewis Bryan Peace John Wolsiefer* Elliot Martin Freshman Harrison Courtney These guys should all attend nationals for their grade level. I said Dan Fuller because I beleive at 119 (his body fat didn't let him go to 119) he would have won it easily... this kid is tough...most likely state champ at 125/119 next year!! If Elliot Martin would ever get up to 100 lbs. he would be great also.

    The champions!!

After deeply studying the brackets, and predicting upsets, here are my predictions: 103: Travis Sullivan (Wayne) 112: Coty Vinsant (Wayne) 119: Tyler Voth (Dunbar) 125: Eric Bryant (McCreary) 130: Bryan Peace (Ryle) (After Ozzy had the close match with Harlan I wonder whether he will pull out a top 4??) 135: Jacob Murton (Lawrence) 140: Daniel Thueneman (Scott) 145: Rob Aylor (Ryle) (I beleive he will pull it out, if not than Banks will win.) 152: Josh Cooper (Simon Kenton) (he will have a close one with Wolsiefer) 160: Austin Cooper (Simon Kenton) 171: Mark Jones (North Hardin) (I beleive Starks will crack under pressure) 189: Richard Starks (Woodford) (The only Woodford state champ) 215: Taylor Scherer (South Oldham) 275: Mike Clark (Trinity) Teams: 1) Larue 2) Woodford After I went through each weight and thought who would win each match I tallied the team points for Woodford and Larue, and I have Larue winning by 13.5, Good Luck to all!!!
