I was there that year, in the stands as a freshman, first year wrestler. It was by far the best environment I have ever been in for wrestling, even better than the Dungeon. I will admit that it appeared Joe Joe was stuck and the place was going absolutley crazy! It was some of the best finals matches I have ever personally witnessed. There were some absolute studs in this state in 1996 and a lot of them were at that tourney.

is this open to all ages??? i'm 25, but always looking for an open mat.

Byrd just got beat by Martinko 6-4.

Funny, I have a very similar post... Winning two team titles. Breaking my ankle in the first round of the state tourney my senior year (going in ranked 3rd). Ended up going 2-2 on one leg. Michael Jackson's final win.

Yet more examples why the 32 man bracket, and lack of seeding is complete and udder bulls**t!

Can't predict any; but there will be several as always!

Thought I would start a fun post to see how many clever and humorous posts that we as wrestlers and fans can produce. This is similar to Jeff Foxworthy's "you might be a redneck if..." My first one is... ...the lady cutting your hair at the local barber shop is afraid to touch your ears.

There is no way that any team will ever have 7 state champs; I don't care how good the team is. The state tournament features the best matches of the year and there are always upsets. I remember our '96 and '97 teams that were stacked up and down only produced three champs each. I believe that in any given year that it is realistic to have 3 or 4 champs tops, regardless of how many #1 ranked wrestlers are on a team.

Pappy- Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about. Is it uncommon for fans to boo when competing against a rival??? I am going to the Louisville vs. Kentucky game this weekend. Do you not think that Rupp Arena will be filled with boos when Louisville takes the court? This is a common thing in sports, you all somehow try and create this picture that high school wrestling is a sanctuary, where everyone should be friends and smack each other on the a** after every match. In any sport their are heated rivalries, so everyone quit crying and claiming that Woodford gets booed because nobody likes or respectst them. The truth of the matter is, that most human beings will pull for the underdog to take down the favorite everytime.

I would suggest losing the 9 pounds to get down to 215. That isn't that much weight. Is there also a 215 pounder that you would have to wrestle off??? I would take my chances in wrestling off the 215, which is closer to your weight anyways, rather than dealing with a guy that potentially weighs 50 pounds more than you.

Who cares...the idea is ridiculous!
