Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2015/2016 - JANUARY 8

Yes, Hall lost to Bradbury as a 7th grader. Hall had beaten Bradbury in the Dragon finals earlier in the year, both tight matches. Hall then moved to Minnesota where he repeated the 7th grade and won a state championship there. I believe he has won them all since, giving him a chance to be a 6-timer in Minnesota, which is definitely a couple tiers up from Kentucky. -
CUTiger184, I assume those are the semi-finals? Any updates in the large school division?

Growing wrestling in KY must go through college and youth programs, I am convinced, not high school. Our high school wrestlers who compete in college are more likely to get involved in coaching, therefore further growing the sport, more than your average high school wrestler. By allowing our best wrestlers to compete in front of college coaches they will hopefully will become excited to compete on the next level, if they aren't already.

I know Whitley Co has one at 106, she's not bad.

Region 7- Boyle Co

Isn't a central location best for everyone though? Yes that means Johnson Central and Paducah Tighlman have to travel three hours every year. However isn't that better than having to travel six hours every other year?
-
I love the theory but Bowling Green isn't centrally located. Johnson Co is three hours from Lexington, which is three hours from Bowling Green. I think it needs to be centrally located to ensure that the best teams participate in the first place. Is there anywhere that's centrally located that does not have local wrestling programs?

I think the location of the 2nd most important competition in the state is worth discussing. As Nike Man said, I'm for whatever is best for the sport.
-
Love the idea of having the state duals at the Civic Center. #nostalgia
-
I kind of think that if the host school is one of the 3rd place finishers then they should get the first open spot. If they don't finish top 3 in their section then I would understand allowing other schools the opportunity.

I've heard the same thing about Landon. Good wrestler, great kid.
-
Lexington Christian is focusing on a middle school and youth program for now. I imagine they'll add a high school program in the next couple of years and be competitive five years from now.
-
If I remember right some years Henry Clay did not participate in the event when they were hosting, although most years they took advantage of teams cancelling. It certainly would not be fun to host and not participate although getting all the gate and concession money would be a nice consolation prize. I think you're both right.

What if the KHSAA sold premium seating for the state finals? I know the NCAA does it and it seems to be full every year. Would make some money for the KHSAA and I bet some would pay for it on the one side. -
Johnson gave it his best effort and looked, but Vazquez was too good this time. I have no doubt they'll see each other again and hope I'm there to see the rematch.

I personally talked to Landon's dad and was told originally the surgery he had Friday would have had him out 4 months but now it looks like 3-4 weeks, giving him just enough time to compete on the mat. He said that the goal is to wrestle this year and that he only weighs 295 or so. -
I heard Tylan Tucker put a hurting on Yenter from Campbell Co, but that's through the grapevine.
-
To my knowledge there is no deadline, just each wrestler has to take it before they compete. I may be wrong though, was once before haha
-
I can see this working on the middle school level, not high school though.
-
I love the clinic idea, will make our wrestlers a little better and serve as a warm-up. Go through USA Wrestling and get a big name.
-
Coachteater, I look for that kid to make some serious noise, even at an already loaded weight class.
-
I believe I know what it is, but I won't spoil the surprise... it's indeed something the whole state will be stoked about.
-
Wow, congrats big man! Great way to represent our state.
