Is your club, coaches, volunteers covered with insurance for your club charter to insure you from liability? A reminder that many of you are not protecting your schools and clubs from any kind of liability with either an injury or law suits. Team Membership Process for KY USAW 2016-2017 Season HS, MS and Youth Coaches, If you were a member in 2015-2016 season, do not create a new record. Your profile will already be in the USA Wrestling membership site. All members 18 y/o and over must have a background check. Coaches need to go online https://www.usawmembership.com/ to renew or start their registration. Coach’s cards will not remain active if they are found to not have an active email address. You will begin the registration process. If you do not have a current background check, you will be re-directed to complete or renew your background check. Make sure in stage 2 you choose Kentucky Wrestling Assoc. you will not be charged for the background fee (It is part of your Coaches Membership fee).You will receive an email saying that you have passed the background check and can return to your online account to finish your registration. *Back ground checks are good for two years*. Kentucky-USA Wrestling High School Team Membership FAQ 1. Who is covered under the HS team membership? A. Only wrestlers in grades 9-12 enrolled at the school and submitted on the team spreadsheet. 2. Can I add wrestlers after I purchase the team membership or do they all have to be submitted at the same time? A. Yes, you can add wrestlers to your team membership during the season before the January 24 deadline. If you have wrestlers who join after that date contact USA Wrestling. 3. Are coaches cards (memberships) covered under the team membership? A. No, coach memberships are not included. However, USAW does not require school coaches working with the chartered HS club team to have memberships to conduct practices. If coaches plan to coach at USAW sanctioned tournaments they would need to first complete a background check and then purchase a USAW membership. 4. How can I pay for the team membership? A. The team pays USA Wrestling directly. The UIL has indicated school or booster club funds should not be used for the payment. Wrestlers should contribute their portion. 5. Can I include high school wrestlers from a different school (that may not have a team) who practice with my team? A. No, only wrestlers enrolled in your school can be included 6. Can I include middle school wrestlers from our school attendance zone that practice with our HS? A. No, only wrestlers in grades 9-12 can be included. 7. Do the wrestlers included under my HS team membership have to practice with my school and enter tournaments under our HS name? For example, we do not have a Freestyle club and practices at the school in the spring. A. No. The wrestlers just get their memberships through the high school team. They can attend club practices with any chartered club. 8. Do I have to include all the information requested on the spreadsheet? A. Yes, for accurate membership and insurance policy requirements all fields must be provided:  First name and Last name  Gender  Date of birth  Address – Street, City, State, Zip  Phone number  E-mail address 9. I already have a KY-USAW chartered club that I run for youth and/or Freestyle/Greco. Does my HS team charter replace that club? A. No, your HS team charter only covers HS team and practices. If you are going to run a separate club with wrestlers from other schools, you would still keep a separate charter for that club. 10. What are the benefits? Why should my team join? A. The HS team membership provides an extremely cost effective way for high school wrestlers to continue to receive the benefits of USA Wrestling membership (see flyer). Through their athlete membership, they receive secondary sports accident insurance for all wrestling activities with sanctioned organizations. That includes your high school practices and tournaments. They are also able to participate in all USA Wrestling sanctioned events including the Folkstyle National Championships, a wide range of FS/GR regional and national tournaments, and a full schedule of local KY-USAW sanctioned FS/GR tournaments in your area. Within certain restrictions, they may also participate in KY-USAW sanctioned Folkstyle tournaments during the season.

Coaches, I apologize for not attending yesterday's association meeting. I need to put out a correction to the youth/MS registration for USA Wrestling. Oct 31th deadline only effects those teams that have not chartered and have not began entering there team members. If they have an active club charter and active members, they can continue with entering the $15 league membership online. after October 31st deadline, the Club Charter price remains to same but coaches or parents will need to purchase full membership cards online. The $15 card will not be an option on the USAW membership site. This change has been implemented because of the different levels of secondary sports insurance coverage with the $15 and the $45 cards. because many clubs are waiting to long to meet USAW insurance requirements by not having an active Chartered Club with active membership cards. Teams starting practice without "Active Coverage" are, and have been an added liability to USAW and its members. This is not punishment for late registration, but rather USAW protecting its membership. It is required that all teams Chartered and all members have an active membership card after 1st week of practice. This gives coaches a 1 week grace period to have all team members registered. Add-on's can be added at any time with an active club membership. You do not need to have all team members at practice to register your wrestlers. Add them as they come out. *A Registration reminder, 1. Coaches/Teams who choose to start registration late in the season (after 31 October) The $15 league card will not be available. You will need to purchase online the full membership $45. ( the $15 league card will be available again for the post season on March 1st.) The league card as well as the full membership card are good from September 1st -thru- August 31st of each year. 2. The "Youth League" mirrors the Middle School associations registration for USAW. The only difference is that the "Youth Association Only" will have until *15 November to Charter and register for there $15 league card. 3. All cards ( League or Full Membership) have there own self identifying ID # on them. Please give a copy of the card to the parent or wrestler. have them go to the USAW web site and register on the site so they can update their information, sign the online waiver, and download there card. 4. Coaches that are renewing or registering there wrestlers for the first time please "assign them to your club" on the profile page at the bottom and save. If the wrestler is not assigned to your club, then you will have to search for them under all Kentucky wrestlers and can be time consuming. 5.
