Mr. Duke, While that may be the case in your region, I know that's not the case in many of the districts around the state and that at least many of the brackets in District 1 were full 16 or larger brackets. As we grow the area programs the brackets get fuller. If we go to just regions then would have some brackets at the 32 man level. Middle school is about growing wrestling around the state, not limiting young wrestlers opportunities. That comes at the high school level. Just my 2 cents.

IMHO the 2nd team 119 should be Anthony Smith- 2000 state runner-up, you should flip the 152's Walls a state placer versus Ervin a State Champion, and your 1st team 140 should be James Lett State runner-up 2001.

I’m all for growing the sport, but changing to fight shorts to draw a few new people is just dumb. Here’s what I tell prospective wrestlers. “Yes the uniform is skin tight, and if you were the only person at a tournament wearing it, it would be funny, but there are 300 other guys wearing the same thing and nobody cares once the matches start.” I mean what’s next, baggy football pants because football players don’t like skin tight pants or shorts for swimmers as the uniform is to revealing? Leave the uniform alone and find other ways to expand the sport: starting more girls programs would be a start. jmtc

"I think the all day tournaments hurt middle school wrestling. If the weight classes could be broken up somewhat with some going in the morning and some going in the afternoon, I think that would help. The 10-12 hour marathons aren't for a lot of folks." So the school teams that arrive on a bus have half their team sit around doing nothing for half the day and then the lower weights do the same for the latter part of the day? Do the upper weights weigh in and then sit for half the day or weigh in after the lower weights finish wrestling, thus sitting around for half the day unable to eat while they wait to weigh in and then wrestle. Even if you had remote weigh ins it would still mean half your team sitting around waiting to wrestle or waiting for the rest to finish. I don't think this is the answer. just my 2 cents.
