Yes, it is 21 teams, I know that's alot, but it has always been this way and some of those teams don't offer full line-ups. With the proper information sent in by all the teams we should be able to avoid the five match rule as much as possible.

I've already talked to Cory's mom (his dad is in Iraq). She understands and appreciated the apology. She also understands that this is the unfortunate part of wrestling. Fortunatally Cory's a sophomore so he has two years left. Tell Matt not worry about it. Take care of yourself over there.

He broke his collar bone. He's done for the year. It happens, it's part of wrestling. No one at Christian Co. holds any ill will towards Matt. I told him(Matt) not to worry about it. Your son is a class act, I wish him the best of luck this year.

Campbell County will be back at Christian County's tournament this year, Jan 21st.

How are the ervin kids at 19 and 25? I haven't heard anything about them, are they mitch's relatives? Tiger 06; as I understand it there are 3 Ervin brothers, each of whom was a state champ, in the 70's or early 80's, and each has sons wrestling now. You haven't heard of them because Union County's administration won't let middle school wrestlers wrestle varsity. I do know that all three mentioned won or place highly in the middle school state tournament during the last three years.

Mathound: you listed Trigg County and Webster County in Region One. Webster County hasn't had a team in at least 6 years. Trigg is still trying to reestablish it team, but has not been able to do so yet. Apollo is also in Region One.

Hey Falcon, How will this effect the guys? This is a kind of late decision. Was the new coach there last year? Any background on him? 119 Rider: I can answer some of that. Coach Maples was Coach Lowe's assistant last year. Previous to that he was the head coach at Montgomery Central, TN. I know Coach Maples is FCHS alumni. He wrestled in the 80's for Kent Parrent. I don't think there will be much change for their team, but FalconMatt may know more.

Dickie Walls will be the Calloway County coach. Montgomery County has started a program also. Not sure about Trigg County, I know they are listed on the coaches page, but I have not heard about them.

Christian County Invitational is only one day January 21st. The Arby's Classic at Hopkinsville will be held this year. Fort Campbell is holding its Blue/Gray Classic January 28th. Correction: The Orange & Black will be held. It will be December 10th.

I have also heard both Johnson's are not wrestling. It's still rumor, here's hoping it's a false rumor. DeAnthony Davie will be wrestling for Hoptown this year. He chose to go to Hoptown rather than stay at County, not really sure of the reason.

Won't this hurt wrestling more than help it. We would lose both Trinity and St. X. Is there another private school that wrestles in the state? It's not like Trinity or St. X have been dominating our sport.

Region 1 has some definite possibilities in terms of state champs: Cody Walls and Marcus Coleman from Caldwell County Mitch Ervin and Adam Carr from Union County Nate Johnson and Matt Mines from Fort Campbell. I think quite a few others will place. Christian County is going to be even younger this year as compared to last. I won’t call it a rebuilding year, because as with any team if all the young guys come together we could do very well. I think Hoptown is still looking for a coach, so who knows how they'll do.

Cory Armstrong at Christian County: plays soccer, is the place kicker for the football team and wrestles. If you want previous athletes AJ Green played football, wrestled, and ran track from 2001 to 2004. Earlier than that Anthony Smith of Christian County started at cornerback, finished 2nd at 119, set a state dead lift record of 500 lbs in weight-lifting, and ran track his senior year -2000.
