    08-09 Tournament Schedule

King of the Bluegrass is December 6th. The 5 Star Classic Duals is January 10th, and the Apollo Duals are January 3rd. Is the Lonesome Invitational still December 13th and who do you contact to get into that tournament?

    08-09 Tournament Schedule

The Christian County Invitational will be the 29th and 30th of December. The 29th will be the JV/Middle School tournament, the Varsity tournament will be the 30th.
  3. Anyone see the interview with Clarissa Chun after she lost her Bronze medal match? The reporter asked what IMHO had to be the dumbest question ever. Chun had just been pinned in the match and the reporter asked "All things considered you have to be pleased with your performance?" Chun looked at her for a moment like she was crazy and said "No" before she turned away from the camera. My question why can't they find someone who understands the sport and understands that expecting a happy to be here answer from a wrestler who has just been pinned, especially in your last match of the season is just plain stupid. :x

    update Henderson wrestling

Coach Cole, Just thought I would show you what I sent to each board member as well as the Superintendent. Shame. Shame on all of you. Using Title 9 as one of reasons to kill your wrestling program. Wrestling is a unisex sport. Open to everyone, be they girl, boy, blind, deaf, or missing a limb. It is the only sport that exists that is based solely on whether or not you as an individual are better than your opponent. You claim it
  6. Robert Moll (Cald) beat Robert Geralds (Chr. Co.) last season at a dual at Paducah Tilman No he didn't that was DQ Fryerson. Geralds wrestled 140 that day.

Facts on 32 man bracket at state

I don't understand you saying you were held hostage. We were able to come and go all day, parking was free (although sometimes, it was more crowded than others), if you chose to stay there all day, you chose to stay there all day. kissinger1: as a coach, who drove a bus to state, it was near impossible to come and go as I pleased. Coaches and wrestlers who can't or don't chose to stay at the plaza have to stay all day at the civic center, forced to pay extremely high prices for average to bad food.

Facts on 32 man bracket at state

I have no problem with the 32 man bracket. My problem is being held hostage for three days paying obnoxious prices for crappy food, when the tournament could be done in two days. If we are going to keep the 3 day/32 man bracket, stop punishing the teams whose wrestlers fall to the wrestle backs. Getting to arena at 8 a.m. and not leaving until 11:30 p.m. on Friday is not cool.

    Regional seeding?

You would run into the issue of some of the best kids being in the same region. You'd still have top kids facing in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. You can't do it. Seeding the regional champs wouldn't work. The theory sounds great, but it would never work. But shouldn't the best kids be the ones that actually won region? And to not come up with some type of seeding system will just lead to more matches that should be finals matches wrestled in the Quarters and Semis. I beleive a committee, with no formal ties to any schools involved could be form to seed based on a preset criteria. I say to do something is better than what we have now.

Tennessee seeds each of its regional champions. How hard would it be to seed our 8 regional champions then random draw everyone else?

    Region 1 Duals Pools

I think it should be noted that Henderson is having its success while not officially being recognized by the school. Remember any team that starts and continues means success for all of us.

    Seedings for State Duals?

Region 1 duals are this weekend at Caldwell County. I predict Union and Christian to come out of Region 1. First time in a while Region 1 will be bringing more than 1 team to the state duals. Region 1 may bring two teams this year, but one of them will not be Christian County. They are going to North Hardin's tournament this weekend, not the Region 1 Duals.

    big east

Morlatt did not wrestle. Luna took 5th because anyone who lost in the 1st round the best they could do was to wrestle back for 7th. If you lost in the 2nd round the best they could do was wrestle back for 5th, hence the best Luna could do was 5th after his loss to Thomas. On another note my only problem was the seeding. At 285 Croney was seeded 6th even though he had pinned the 2nd seed. That worked out in the end. At 152 Cory Armstrong was seeded 5th even though he was the only returning state placer in his weight class. This didn't work out as Mann defeated him in the semi's. My question: why bother to give seeding criteria if you are not going to follow the criteria?
  17. The Christian County wrestling team defeated Calloway County 64-18 and Paducah Tilghman 54-25 last night running their season dual record to 15-10. Finishing 2-0 on the night were: Dee Leavell at 112, Dustin Thomas at 125, Jake Skinner at 130, Austin Jones at 135, Cory Armstrong at 152, Calvin McNeely at 160, Marlon Pate at 189, Preston Lashley at 215, and Houston Croney at 285. Both the Varsity and Middle School next wrestle on Saturday. The Middle School at Union County in the Kentucky Middle School State Duals and the Varsity in The Big East Tournament at Eastern High School in Louisville. 18. The Christian County Colonels wrestling team wrestled in 8 dual matches this weekend. The Colonels finished 6-2 overall to run their season dual record to 12-6. The Colonels wrestled in a quad meet Friday night at Tuscaloosa County High School in Northport, AL. The Colonels defeated St. Clair County High School 70-12 and Hillcrest High School 84-0, while falling to TCHS 40-34. On Saturday the Colonels competed in the Tuscaloosa County Duals, finishing the day 4-1 and placing 3rd as a team. On its way to the 3rd place finish the Colonels defeated St. Clair County 54-21, Hueytown 60-21, and Brookwood 64-9, while falling to the eventual Dual champion Prattville 51-24. In the 3rd place match the Colonels avenged their previous nights loss by defeating the host Wildcats 42-31. Wrestling well for the Colonels were Dustin Thomas at 125 and Houston Croney at 285 both finished the weekend 8-0. Finishing 7-1 on the weekend were; Dee Leavell at 112 & Cory Armstrong at 152, finally finishing 6-2 were Jake Skinner at 135, Robert Geralds at 145 and Darryl Dobson at 215. The Colonels next wrestle in this year
  19. Why are we not having Districts this year? At the last meeting entries to the Regional tournament was limited to two wrestlers per weight class. That means some regions could have up to 24 wrestlers entered in a weight class in at regional. I thought one of the goals of middle school was to model the high school tournament. Why are we as middle school coaches concerned about the non-state sanctioned High School Duals? Middle School regionals are not being held a week before Middle School state because some teams are concerned with the conflict with High School duals. If we truly want to model high school we should have open districts on the weekend we now have Regionals, Regionals the next week- High School State Duals be danged, and then hold our state tournament. The top four from each district would qualify for regionals and the top four from each regional would qualify for state the guarantees you a 16-man state tournament where the five-match rule would most likely not apply.
