OhioTofC 1 Report post Posted May 17, 2009 MAY 17, 2009OHIO TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS & TOFC TEAM DUALS - APRIL 24-25, 2010 LOOKING FOR STATE COORDINATORS & TEAMS FOR TOFC DUALS"RESERVE YOUR SPOTS NOW, BEFORE WE FILL UP" - ***40 spots already confirmed -see listing at end***With the success of this year's inaugural Dual Meet Tournament behind us, the Ohio Tournament of Champions is now looking to expand the event. This year, we had 42 teams, with 14 in each of our three Divisions (Elementary, Middle School and High School), and next April 25 we anticipate having 32 teams in each Division.The Elementary and Middle School Divisions will be broken into 3-4 different Groups (large states, small states, large clubs, small clubs, etc...). The High School Division will also be divided and we are working on several different proposals for that now (mostly based on area the team members cover...ie: statewide, city wide, single school, etc...).Each team will still receive 5 dual meets, against teams of similar size/strength. With the Elementary & Middle School Divisions, we are hoping to allocate at least 20-24 of the spots to an all-star team from various states, with the remaining spots filled in by perhaps a second team from some states, or various club teams (teams that participated this past year will be guaranteed a spot, if they confirm by a given date). We anticipate most of the High School spots will go to community based teams, or small all-star teams (not statewide teams). Dual Pools will be determined by how your point getters (one per weight class) do in the Individual Tournament. Team placements will be based on what level your team is, and not what pool they end up competing in (example: you may be a small state all-star team but, based on how your kids did in the Individual Event, have to compete against some of the larger teams in the Duals. Still, even if your team did not fare well in the Duals, you still might have placed the highest of all the Small State All-Star Teams).Age Groups/weight classes will be as follows:1. High School All-Star Division: For those wrestlers born in the years 1991-1995* ( a wrestler born in 1995 may compete in this division and may be in middle school). No high school graduates will be allowed to compete in this division.Weight classes (15) for Division 1 will be: 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 142, 145, 150, 160, 171, 189, 220, 2852. Middle School Division (17) : For those wrestlers born in 1995-1997 (wrestlers born in 1998 may compete in this division and may be in the 5th grade).Weight classes for Division 2 will be: 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 126, 133, 140, 150, 160, 180, 2303. Elementary Division (17): For those wrestlers born in 1998-2005Weight classes for Divisions 3 will be: 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 120, 140, 160 We are also working on the cost, but it will not be more than the $650 that teams payed this year.Next year, the Ohio TofC Individual Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 24, while the Duals will take place on Sunday, April 25. The Duals will be run in two sessions, with all the Elementary and 1/2 of the Middle School teams going from 8 am-1:30 pm and the remaining Middle School and all High School Teams going from 1:30-7:30 pm.At this time, we are looking for the following:***State coordinators to oversee the all-star team selection in their state for the Elementary and Middle School Divisions. Ideally, each state will come up with some means of qualification for their team (such as a tournament, or point system). However, the final decision will be up to each state coordinator.***Club Teams, Area All-Star Teams, or State All-Star Teams, that wish to enter the High School, Middle School or Elementary Divisions (state teams will receive first options in the Middle School and Elementary Division). Note: A minimum of 8 spots will be allocated to Club Teams in the Middle School and Elementary Divisions (these guaranteed spots are now 3/4 full).A $100 deposit, due by December 1, is necessary, in order to save your team's spot.The following is the list of states, in order, that upon verification of a team coordinator, will be granted a spot in the Elementary & Middle School Divisions (It is our hope that selected states will enter a team in both divisions).
