    KSWA State Duals

Anyone that could host this between Lexington and Louisville would be ideal. I agree that renting a place to host would just cost the association money. I vote for Woodford as a centralized place.

    KSWA State Duals

Take it to a 16 team open invite each year, pool it out, and go wrestle, we have some great programs in Kentucky that never see each other in the regular season. We struggle with filling teams for state duals every year. I think it shouldn't be in the middle of post season. Either before or after state in my opinion. But the best option is before our post season. A lot of our middle school hammers move to high school right after middle school state which hurts a lot of middle school teams dual aspect.

    KSWA State Duals

What makes the most sense to me is to move the state duals to the regular season and centralize that so that teams can attend with their full lineups. It then lets everyone see each other before the post season.

    Youth state weigh in

Track wrestling does input the kids and put them in the brackets, but track doesn't seperate kids by team/region. The person creating these brackets has always seperated 1st round matches to allow kids to not wrestle the same kid they see all year in the 1st round of a "state" tournament. That's where the time comes into play. Imagine going through 72 brackets or so and having to separate kids in each one of them manually. It would take at least an hour to do that. I agree it's dumb to get rid of remote weighins but unfortunately this year it's that way.

    Youth state weigh in

My question to you goo is have you been to a Spring or Fall meeting for KWSA? The representatives for your "team" is the coaches that go to these. And as far as the members of the board for the KWSA, do you think that the 6 members of the board should be the only ones to vote on these issues? Us as coaches who actually care how things turn out for our kids, go to these and actually vote. This Friday, Saturday weigh in was brought up in the Spring Meeting and brought into actual law in the Fall meeting. I personally was one that voted against it and wanted remote weigh in to continue. Unfortunately, it passed. Do I believe it will continue like this after this year? I hope not. I see numerous issues coming up after this season for next season. But as the KWSA board members say year in and year out the first step to help solve these issues is attendance of the "coaches" at the off season meetings. Hopefully we could set up some type of actual conference call for those who can't be in attendance at the actual meeting place. Best of luck to all our wrestlers as our in season schedule comes to an end.

    Distance for district

My thoughts are you stay with 4 regions and introduce the possibility of up to 24 man brackets, still allows the "newbies" to wrestle in the rat tails of the bracket. Obviously seed the top 8 in each region. Then the rat tails fill spot 12-16 of the bracket. I know the five match rule could possibly come into play. But the odds show that the wrestlers drawn in the rat tails won't advance farther then the cons quarters. Just my two cents

Human error, it happens. It's for the kids, and all that matters is that we caught it and made it right for them. Thank you sir.

Wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas to our wrestling community. Not used to having 2 Saturday's in a row of not wrestling in the middle of wrestling season. Hope everyone enjoys their family time and stays on weight and safe. Merry Christmas

Constructive feedback on the Louisville location

Thank you River City Wrestling Club for hosting this year's Middle School and Youth State Championships. It went very smoothly both days. I do like having it in a location where there is options to stay for those that have to travel. It was an easy 2 block walk to the venue for those of us that stayed overnight for both days. Yes I'm sure there are some cons to the location, but I saw more pro's then cons. Set up with seating around all the mats in a horseshoe setting would of let fans see the mats better. Concessions need to be better but I don't know who technically controls that. Prices are prices as far as I'm concerned at any venue we rent that's going to be an issue. That goes the same for Parking as well. I would definitely be interested in seeing what the Fairgrounds in Louisville could offer us next year.

    Weight classification

Thank you MLee and the rest of the youth association for taking the time to make this for the "kids" whom I see every year leave mostly happy from another fun year of youth state wrestling. I for one have seen our #'s of kids interest in wrestling grow the past three years. It's not always about how great of a wrestler our youth kids are at this age. It's about keeping them around the sport of wrestling and from my Math it's grown every year. Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

    Middle School Rankings 2015/16 - FEBRUARY 2

Once again thank you for everything you do Ranger and Dutch. I for one am glad you guys put in the time you guys do for presenting something for the fans of the sport of wrestling to get some knowledge of the young men and women representing this sport at this level.

Middle School State 2016 Potential Match Ups?

I'm excited to see all of our young men and women wrestle, they all have been working so hard as wrestlers that showing up, putting on that singlet, and going out there and getting after it on Saturday and Sunday is the reward that us as coaches get to see and be proud of. It's truly a pleasure just to watch as they compete. It's an honor to say you helped them get there.

    State Seeds and brackets

Agreed, at the time of the seed meeting no one brought up Cowan beating Lee. And truthfully only two coaches each one from their respective teams would know that win/defeat. Or even how many times they wrestled this year. With one not being present it didn't get brought up.

    State Seeds and brackets

Once again fellas, it's plain and simple.... Rangers rankings are just that rankings on what information he has seen. If 3 of the top four kids from Rangers rankings are in the same region then they can't all get one seeds. Each Regional winner is who gets seeded 1-4. The rest are drawn in the one and 4 regional placers from the same region travel with each other in a sixteen man bracket. The 2 and 3 regional placers are put in the opposite side of the bracket. We as coaches can't keep track of every one of our wrestlers matches and most of the time we don't even get to see or wrestle half the teams in the state. And no one mentioned Zac's win against Lee. Anyone from Carr wrestling's program could have been in the conference call. And yes no representation will usually mean the 4 seed. It's like going to court without a lawyer.

    State Seeds and brackets

Unfortunately Carr didn't have a coach sitting in on the seed meeting conference call last night, so they had no representation. As far as bias goes I didn't see any unbiased things. Coaches must be present at seed meeting to fight for their kids seeds.
  24. twenhofelcoach

    State Seeds and brackets

No it does not, seeding criteria for the one seeds was head to head this year, then returning state placer, then common opponents, then records

    Region 3 Tourney Update

We all as a wrestling community feel your pain. We didn't want to see these things happen to anyone who puts in the work as a wrestler suffer from a skin condition. We had one of our best wrestlers have to end his eighth grade year at districts because of a rare skin condition as well. And he had a great chance at reaching the podium at state. Unfortunately these things happen and as a coach/parent it's hard to swallow. He as a wrestler is lucky to have 4 more years of wrestling if he continues in the sport to move on and continue. I hope you see both sides of the ruling.
