2013-2014 Middle School Region 1 Wrestling Tournament (Kentucky Middle School State Qualifier) Date: 25 January 2014 Where: Union County Middle School 4465 U.S 60, Morganfield, KY Who: All District 1 & 2 Qualifiers (Teams should bring alternates) Fee: $15.00 per wrestler / no Maximum Fee. Times: Weigh-ins from 7:15 to 8:45 – Wrestling will start prior to 9:30 Placing: 1st – 6th place in order to determine State Alternates. Admission: $6.00 / adult -- $3.00 / Child Coaches must have the KY middle school coaches card to be eligible to coach their wrestlers. • Seeding – Seeding will be based off of placement at Districts • Coaches if a wrestler can not compete let me know as soon as possible to notify the alternate. Alternates will come from the same district as the wrestler that can't compete unless there is not one there to fill that spot then it will come from the other district. • Region 1 Qualifiers list will be sent by the District 1 & 2 host no later than Jan 19 • KSWA Rules and Bylaws will be Utilized • 30 Minute Rest Period between Matches Enforced (Championship Brackets are :90, :90, :90, Consolation Brackets are :60, :90, :90) • Brackets will be ran on Trackwrestling for event scoring and will be available Friday, 24 January 2014. Battle of the Brave brackets are on trackwrestling

Thanks to all the teams that made it to our tournament this year. I would like to thank the Union County Community and Ervin Cable for supporting the middle school and JV wrestlers by taking time out to help setup and run the first Battle of the Brave. I hope to see all the schools back next year. Please send me a email if you want back on the list next year. We already had some teams commit.

Well this hoop was voted on at the state meeting and I am pretty sure it was passed like 17-2. Is it really to much to ask for all coaches to get a background check by USA wrestling. They have to do a CPR class to maybe save a life or to do first aid training. I rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. They put this out in Sept.

Thanks for having us and all the work you and your parents did to make this a great tournament. Hope to get back in it next year.

How many kids registered under 80 do you have signed up.would like to come down.

Gavin will wrestle whatever is best for his team. Right now he weighs between 70-74

Preston Mattingly from Apollo is a pretty tough kid. I think he will be a contender around 75lbs next year. There is a kid that moved in near Ft. Knox Gary Speed. I think he will place high next year I am guessing around 86lbs

Look Sir, Blue is a great 3rd grader as you have told everyone but he didn't get screwed when he wrestled Carson in a close match 3 to 2. When he wrestled Gavin he lost 9 to 0 and it wasn't close. I saw both matches and even have it recorded the one with Gavin if you would like to see it. I also think KY state brackets have the score to be 9 to 0. Just let his wrestling get him on the list and not you. There are a couple of tough tournaments during the year.
